Top ways to experience Rambla del Poblenou and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Poblenou
The futuristic Agbar Tower stands out from Barcelona's skyline in Poblenou. It is no coincidence then that this area of town is the newly crowned technological park of the city, its own mini Silicon Valley containing a tech incubator (Barcelona Activa) as well as a host of local and international high tech companies. To accommodate the onrush of new residents and workers, the area of Poblenou has seen a surge of activity in new high-rise residential buildings and two top-notch shopping centres catering to everyone's need. The ambiance of this area is calmer than the city center and the beautifully relaxing Bogatell Beach, popular with locals, is just a handful of blocks away.
How to get there
  • Llacuna • 6 min walk

The Rambla offers the family atmosphere of a small town with all the accessibility and benefits of a big city. Great walk with the family after a great meal and dessert from local providers and restaurants. There are supermarkets, pharmacies and plenty of restaurants/bars.

Plenty of variety and options. The beach is about a 6-10 minute walk, there are hotels, hostels and plenty of airbnb options around. Transportation is accessible, from public to private. Parking might be a difficulty in the street specially if you are not local to traffic rules.

As a family, this is a great place to chose for a short or long stay, 15 minutes from Barcelona and 6-10 minute walk from the beach.

I was on a long walk in the area where we stayed and I found this somewhat pedestrian area with a lot of cafes, a lot of students, and some night clubs. I liked the trees and some of the converted buildings.

This is the prettiest street in this neighborhood, off the beaten path, used to be industrial, now full of students and office workers. Some night clubs here and some cafes.

Great place to visit for food and drink. Tables are situated along the centre of the road. There are hardly any cars so it is a safe walk for pedestrians.
This road is much nicer than La Rambla in the centre of town with less tourists and more locals.
Nearest metro is Poblenou on line 4.
We had lunch and dinner at restaurants along this rambla and they were superb.
The rambla leads down to the beach, one of which is Platja de la Mar Bella which is a clothing optional beach.

At the heart of this vibrant district, the Rambla stretches for almost 2 kilometers. To the eponymous Parc. And just beyond to the sea.

It’s a grand stroll, pedestrianised in parts. Retail, cafes and restaurants abound. About half ways along is the great monument to Doctor Trueta.

He was a local born polymath. Over a lifetime of achievement he had a lengthy tenure as Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Oxford University.

Smaller and more intimate than the famous 'La Rambla', this is a much more enjoyable street. Lots of little shops and bars to eat drink and (window-)shop.
Our favourite was Bar Nuria at #34 that I can't find here on Tripadvisor. The bacalau croquetas are to die for!
When travelling north-west, when you get to Carrer del Perú go one block south-west, then continue on Carrer de la Llacuna and Carrer de Rogent for another lovely pedestrianised shopping street.

The Green room ( Irish Bar) on La rambla , Poblenou was from the start interesting. We politely asked for the table to be cleaned , they weren’t happy! Then got the drinks Order wrong, even though it was written down!! . The meal was just about edible, service was a little too be desired. They couldn’t wait to get rid of us because people were waiting for our table & I speak a little Spanish & the staff were talking about us. Disappointed.
