Bogatell Beach

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: Poblenou
The futuristic Agbar Tower stands out from Barcelona's skyline in Poblenou. It is no coincidence then that this area of town is the newly crowned technological park of the city, its own mini Silicon Valley containing a tech incubator (Barcelona Activa) as well as a host of local and international high tech companies. To accommodate the onrush of new residents and workers, the area of Poblenou has seen a surge of activity in new high-rise residential buildings and two top-notch shopping centres catering to everyone's need. The ambiance of this area is calmer than the city center and the beautifully relaxing Bogatell Beach, popular with locals, is just a handful of blocks away.

A magical event and it was FREE
I attended the free Orchestra on the beach and it was amazing. Sound was perfect, ambient and we were all in awe listening to the band. It’s free organised events like this that introduce people to new genre of music and they go to paid events later. Good work Barcelona!!!!

Beach further along the waterfront worth travelling for
Well worth the extra 20 minutes on the bus to get to this beach. *much* nicer than Barceloneta, quieter (though still busy) and much cleaner. One end is nudist but only in a fairly moderate kind of way.

    Excellent City Beach
I read that this is one of the best beaches in Barcelona, and it didn't disappoint. Relaxed atmosphere, clean, and excellent service from the nearby Bo Kaap restaurant. It takes a little more effort to get to than the beaches closer in town such as Barceloneta, but it's well worth it.

My daughter and I (16yrs) visited this beach. We were there in the morning. There are toilets, lifeguards, and food and drink huts. Sunbeds were 20 euro each so we laid on our towels instead. There were women coming round asking if you wanted massages, and men selling beach towels. The women came up to us 5 times despite us saying no! The police come around on their beach buggy from time to time...the men bury the towels in the sand then come back for them! We went for lunch then went next door to Nova Icaria beach. Slightly smaller, but no-one tried to sell us massages. I preferred Nova Icaria.

The beach itself is ok, it could do with litter bins maybe , but the absolute plague and l mean plague of people trying to sell you blankets ,umbrellas, mojitos, and massages is totally over the top, don’t go here if you can’t deal with them, the sunbeds plus umbrella hire was €60 , extortion!!! We won’t recommend this beach plus we won’t ever return 🙁

I walked to this beach from our hotel. It is a neighborhood beach, a bit far away from all the tourist activities. Still quite a few people enjoying the sun and the water. Some views of the city in the distance.

Good sandy beach. It’s a wide stripe of sand where you can find a place because it’s not so crowded. There are beach volleyball zone, many cafes and restaurants.

Filthy, plastic bags, bandage plasters, detritus etc.. in the water, stung a couple of times by the local jellyfish, sharp rocks underwater in the beach shallows that you cant see because the water is also filthy. Wouldnt be surprised if the water quality was ‘hazardous’ as the nearby part of town honks like a medieval sewer. Broken glass everywhere. Over the tanoy the lifeguard is shouting, keep an eye on your bags as they are likely to be stolen. Gave it a star for the ‘surviving a life experience’ aspect.
