What travellers are saying
- Chris and StellaToronto, Canada249 contributionsMy husband and I are book and library enthusiasts. This was worth the walk to the Gothic quarter, on Sant Jordi holiday where books are part of the celebration.Written April 25, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tamerlans007Badalona, Spain1,725 contributionsInteresting public library that worth a visit. It's a very good complement of the main places in Barcelona. It's not a touristic place and could be a good place to rest for a while and get into an old atmosphere. They have a very good Sherlock Holmes collection.
The visit is free.Written January 12, 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Great terrace and open space.Written May 29, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- MollyKathleen04Melbourne, Australia6 contributionsI like Black Books on TV, not so much in real life. The surly Irishman behind the counter is a poor imitation of Bernard Black, and made my visit a thoroughly unpleasant experience. The whole time I was there he was loudly rude and passive-agressive toward his co-worker, making everyone in the store quite uncomfortable. When I went to pay I was greeted with a surly glance from the above mentioned gentlemen while he continued to file his nails and ignore me until his co-worker was ready to serve me.
Don't bother attempting to sell books to them. They will either accuse you of trying to steal them, or offer you 1 Euro for a book in brand new condition (or in my case both).
I guess one positive is that I'm now inclined to learn Spanish so I never have to go back there.Written December 5, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Good selection of books, CDs, etc. Nice and calm atmosphere.Written January 7, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MrReonCentral New Jersey2 contributionsThis building (now a university library) is a reproduction of the Spanish Pavilion at the 1937 Paris Exposition. Although it was closed when we were there in October 2011 we could walk around it and look inside. On the ground level there is reproduction of Picasso's painting Guernica where the original was displayed. For those interested in architecture and history this is an amazing find!Written July 12, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - permiaIreland63,220 contributionsNamed in tribute to the eponymous activist and politician, it is an important institution at the bottom of Rambla.
An attractive building houses a branch of the city’s Public Libraries. It has a good range of books and periodicals plus offering a range of services.Written April 3, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
