- Ma R1 contributionTook this tour with a friend and we both had an amazing time! Lesly, our guide, was so knowledgeable and funny and really made the whole experience. She was not only an expert on the history of the region and was able to teach us about it in a really engaging way that it didn’t feel like a dry, history lesson, she was also incredibly knowledgeable about the wine. I know nothing about wine, Lesly did a phenomenal job at describing each and its history along with the history of the vineyard and wine in general. She also taught us tricks on how to “know” wine and what different flavors, colors, etc mean. Without her tips, tricks, and knowledge I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did or taken away some new skills(or a bottle of the signature wine she recommended)! He was so highly educated about every area we visited, was so passionate about the history and taught us about each city in a fun and humorous way. He offered amazing commentary throughout the day on the bus explaining to us what we were seeing along the drive. He made an effort to get to know everyone as much as possible. This is by far the best guided tour trip I have ever taken - all thanks to Rod's wonderful job.
The trip is amazingly planned out and I felt so safe on the drive with our driver. The views on the drive are unmatchable. I've never seen anything like it. The bus was comfortable and we listened to another guide, Alina, talk about the history of Montserrat and Barcelona. We had enough free time to browse around the area, once we arrived at Montserrat; I toured the art museum there(paintings by Degas, Monet, and Picasso). It would have been a bonus to be able to see the black Madonna up close, but tickets were required (and we're not available until a later time). On pilgrimage you would want to stay much longer than this tour but the short amount of time was enough to spend time in the full but respected sanctuary.
There is a natural via de cruces that is easily accessible and not nearly as crowded.
The tour guides were kind and gracious and the bus is well air-conditioned and comfortable for our mid summer visit.
The meal at the centuries old farmhouse was very enjoyable especially if you like meat bread and wine. Short walk tithe shuttle bus and a nice 50 minute drive to the vineyard. Host met us promptly and we had a nice tour around the grounds and truly enjoyed the ride though the vineyard. Nice 1000 year old chapel on the property we got to see. Enjoyed the first tasting of3 wines before a short drive to the 2nd vineyard where their cava is produced. Host promptly met us and we toured the cellars and finished with four cava tasting. Can not say enough about our two gracious hosts who made us feel like guests.
