Hotel's Favourite
Stayed here for our 5 year anniversary getaway with our 2 year old. Hotel is in a great location and central to all the family attractions downtown and near many restaurants. The hotel staff, especially Christina, were so accommodating. When checking in online you can choose your own room, we lucked up and I chose one that had a balcony. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a central location that's in a good neighborhood. Room was very clean and bathroom was too, staff met all of our requests and needs as well. Pool was nice (and heated to the perfect temp!), a little small, but great for our 2 year old.

And I just want to give Christina all the kudos for being so helpful our entire stay. Especially when our son called 911 without us knowing. It was quite a trip. 10/10 service!

We can't wait to visit again!

Tip for those with toddlers: unplug your phone or move it out of reach, there is an emergency button that dials 911 direct!

This hotel’s location is the number one reason to stay here. The employees are so friendly and helpful and the lobby seems to have been updated fairly recently. The rooms are dated and could use some upgrading but the water pressure is on point 100%! The hallways need to be vacuumed and the floors in our room could have used a thorough cleaning/mopping since only a portion of the room has carpet. The indoor pool is open but it is very small. Breakfast is being served in the lobby (for a fee) and it was very good. Overall, a good stay for two nights.

Our experience overall was very good and we would stay here again if visiting the area in the future. Location is good, especially if you are traveling with children (the Creative Discovery Museum is next door and the Tennessee Aquarium is very close) and if attending a Chattanooga Lookouts baseball game, AT&T Field is adjacent to the hotel parking lot (for those interested in local history, there is an interesting historical marker at the top of the hill behind the hotel that is within easy walking distance).

As far as hotel condition, our experience was generally positive. While some wear and tear was observed (worst we saw was a chipped toilet tank lid in the room), condition was fine and our room and the lobby were clean and nice. Beds were comfortable as well.

Staff was friendly and the bartender offered some great advice on restaurant options and how to get there.

The person working valet parking was on break when we arrived, so we self-parked (same price as valet), but the parking was in front of the lobby main entrance, easily accessible, and plenty of parking available.

Vacay w/grandkids, arrived Sunday at approx. 5:00PM EST and we were informed at check-in that there would be no housekeeping available during our stay. Found it a bit out of the ordinary, but grandkids were ready for soon pool time and so were we. Caution... Pool was over chlorinated to the point that it started to burn our throats and eyes. Needless to say pool time lasted less than 30minutes. Day two, informed manager on duty that the chlorine level was so high as to cause a burning sensation in both throat and eyes. To their credit all they did was open the door to the patio area with a trash can. Day three, pool still over chlorinated and no pool time. Day four, asked the duty manager Andrea to please service the room, only to be told that "Yes" rooms can be serviced but only after providing a 24 hours notice. Need I say that it was never on their website of the location we are staying at, nor was it printed and posted anywhere in the lobby, at the check-in desk, elevator, or the room. Compromise was and I quote " I'll have house keeping up there today at six PM". Came back from dinner at seven PM only to find the room not serviced. No fresh towels, no coffee, no toilet paper, no trash removed, no vacumed carpet, no mopped floors, no toilet cleaned, and no fresh linens. Call down to the front desk and the duty manger "Chris" was upstairs within 10 minutes with some coffee, cups, towels, and the ever important and life saving toilet paper. Chris immediately took ownership of the situation and asked what would be the best time torrow (Thursday) to have our room service. Chris gets five stars for taking ownership of a problem that was not his doing. Andrea gets zero (0) stars, and the hotel gets an overall score of 2.5. Not pleasant experience for two seasoned world travellers. Breakfast on site was 5 stars each and every day.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. Please know that we take all comments seriously--we do apologize for the situation that arose with the communication that took place with our staff that came in late afternoon regarding the cleaning of your room. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we have not been able to return to the staffing level pre-COVID, servicing a room must be a 24-hour notice to ensure we have staff available. If your travels bring you back to Chattanooga, please reach out to me directly for your lodging needs. -Andrea

I stayed here on a Saturday night. I have enjoyed great stays at other HGI properties, so I was hopeful when I booked this one.

First, here were the positives: The location is great if you are wanting to stay downtown. Only a block or two from the aquarium, Lookouts stadium, and local bars and restaurants. The property has some years on it, but was overall in decent condition. The room was clean, and the bed semi-comfortable. But not great.

OK - now the negatives. First, parking is insane. There is a tiny parking lot behind the hotel that is far from adequate to handle the number of cars. Overflow parking is several blocks down the street, which is insane.

Second, the lady who checked me in was dressed in such a way that I had no idea she was even a hotel employee. In fact, if she had not been wearing a name tag, I would have never known she worked there. No uniform of any kind. Dressed very slouchy. Completely unprofessional.

Third, the walls in the room were so thin we could hear everything around us. The couple in the room next to us were talking at 11:00 pm, and we could hear every single word. We could also hear conversations from other rooms all around us up and down the hall. It was a nightmare, and there was nothing to do except wait it all out.

Bottom line - I would recommend that you keep looking if you are looking for a downtown hotel.

Dear guest, I am so happy you did enjoy our location. Unfortunately it sounds like you were less than impressed with the overall stay. As for parking - it is something we wish we could fix but the lot is owned by Republic and is not our actual lot so we share it with the public until the gate goes down at 6:00PM. I am sorry we fell short on the appearance of our front desk staff. Friday and Saturday's staff are able to dress down to support the sports team. This was for a fundraiser we held to raise money for the American Heart Association. Although it is out of the norm, we should still be fully professional and ready to assist. We are sorry your service fell short as we strive daily to make everyone's stay great! Should you find yourself in Chattanooga again, we would love to have another shot at hosting you! Thanks, Lauren

We stayed two nights recently during the Motor Car Festival/Meecum Auction event in Chattanooga. This hotel provided us with a great location....all the events we wanted to attend were within walking distance and/or could take a bus. From the making of the reservation with Kiandra, to checking in with Chris and Courtney was easy. The parking is 18$ a day(due to hotel having to lease area)and can be valet or self-park but still same price. The breakfast cost about what it would be if we were to choose an outside restaurant but we opted to eat in. Candi was such a super server, very attentive, and presented us with smiles and thank you each day. She is truly an asset to this hotel. Compliments to the chef as well. We ordered French Toast the second day and it was delish!! We also had interaction with the GM Andrea who was welcoming and pleasant to talk to. The room was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The TN Aquarium and several other places are close by also. We would definitely stay here again....BTW the street in front of hotel was blocked off due to City Maintenance, but Chris was able to direct us in without too much difficulty.

We were looking forward to a nice quick getaway to Chattanooga for the weekend and were so disappointed by our stay at Hilton Garden Inn. We were springing for a luxury experience and the price was premium, but the place was severely understaffed, the staff seemed overworked and overwhelmed. This comes across to guests as a clear management problem. The breakfast buffet, for which we were charged $12.95/person had no cream, no orange juice, we had to wait for someone to wash silverware and bring it back out, and all of the plates, cups etc were disposable. There was one staff person responsible for taking orders, bussing tables, refilling coffee, and running food and she seemed so overworked, the mother in me got up to help her out. There were at least 20-25 people bottle necking around the breakfast area and it was a nightmare. There is no excuse for this, it's uncomfortable for guests and is a toxic work environment for people who were clearly working hard. The pool was like a giant hot tub and was too hot for our young kids to swim and enjoy. This was a bummer because the pool was one of the main reasons we chose to stay here. The whole place seemed dingy and basic. We won't be staying here again, even if the location is amazing, it's not worth the money or the hard feelings of seeing such an awful workplace for nice people. We were also charged a daily parking rate even though the lot was full and we couldn't find a spot on our second night. I plan to dispute this charge with my credit card company as it wasn't reflected on the receipt I was given at check-out.

Slow flushing toilets and I guess you must request housekeeping.
Location was perfect for sightseeing and shopping. The breakfast was fantastic! You can pay $40 more a night or pay for breakfast. The $40 saves you at least $15 so I would definitely recommend doing so.
The hot tub didn’t heat up the 2nd night
We let them know but it didn’t help us while we were visiting

Room was ok, but aged. The facility and room in my opinion do not not meet the standard of a Hilton Garden Inn. I also believe the facility is poorly managed. Our suite was not available at 3:00 so we had to wait one hour for the staff to clean the room. The staff were very casual in their attire. Both the hostess and the bartender ate food (salad and cake) in front of guest while tending to their guest and bar tending duties that early evening. To add insult to injury, we parked in the lot associated with the hotel. We were never informed by the valet who watch us walk in or the front desk that a placard was required to be displayed on your dash for parking. The next morning I received a parking ticket. I was told by the front desk they would follow-up with the parking management company to inform them that we were guest at the hotel. The appeal to the ticket was denied. This resulted in a ticket plus a fine amounting to $72.50 in parking. I do not recommend this HGI.

Dear Guest. Please accept our apologies that your room was not ready by 3p--our team does our absolute best to meet the check-in deadline for every guest arrival, our check-in time is 4p. Unfortunately, during this unusual time that we are all experiencing in our lives, it is the uncertainty of what each day brings is the challenge that we manage in our industry. We have addressed your comment regarding the casualness with our team members; hopefully, this will not occur in the future. And, unfortunately, any parking violation is handled by the valet company, if you haven't spoken to them regarding the issue that occurred, please reach out to them at 423-637-6649. If your travels bring you back to the Chattanooga area, please reach out to me directly to secure your reservation--we would love a chance to show you that we are better than what you experienced. -Andrea

This hotel gets a 5 star in every category. The location is great. It was convenient to get to and near all my appointments in Chattanooga. It is also in a area that I was able to get outside and walk around after a busy day. My room was comfortable with above standard amenities that made doing some work and enjoying some tv at the end of day easy. I also decided to dine in and was very pleasantly surprised of the various choices I had, price points and above all great taste. The service was great during my stay and they went out of the way to answer any questions. The next day I checked out and headed to appointments before heading home, not realizing I had left my desktop. They texted me when they found it, however I did not see the text until I was almost half way home. They pa led it up after we did speak and had it fed ex to my home the following morning. This was a Friday afternoon. Great service

The Children's Discovery Museum, TN Aquarium, IMAX Theater, High Point Climbing, Regal Theaters are located within 1 block of the hotel. There is an electric shuttle, complimentary, that runs every 15-20 minutes that will take passengers across the river to "North Shore" and various points throughout the city.
