The Herbalist cabin we stayed at was cozy and comfortable, although extremely basic. They included a gas cooker and a water jug outside which was helpful. When we arrived too late to get dinner, the hosts provided us with some groceries so I could cook without going shopping in town.

Unfortunately, no one had checked/cleaned/restocked the compost toilet between guests and there were some issues with it.

It is important for visitors to be aware that there is no running water, no drinking water at all, only 1 shower and it's not private, the road is very bad and it's at least 20 minutes drive (half on a really rough road) from the town. There is no signage at all to find the location from the highway.

One sketchy item: we booked through "bookings.com" and received email confirmation of our reservation, and that we would pay on arrival. Then, several days later, they emailed us again to say that they would NOT hold our reservation until we paid in full.

We were brutally attacked by their 3 dogs. Myself, my husband, my 8 year old son and our dog were rushed by their 3 great pyanese dogs who bit me and my husband very badly as well as our dog. We ended up in Emergency in Tofino. There was no sorry from Ziga Zig and he blamed us for it. He has no insurance and should not be running a public campground with these dangerous dogs! We were lucky we weren't killed and that our 8 year old did not get bitten. Also the composting toilets were over flowing, with no toilet paper or anything. I am ok with off grid camping and roughing it but they don't even take away their over flowing poop buckets. I also heard from everyone we ran into after the attack in Tofino that this place is bad! It has a bad reputation. Check out Expose the Medicine Farm on Facebook. The worst mistake of our life staying at this place. STAY AWAY!

Although it was hard to find the first time because of no signage we quickly got it figured out. Yes the road is rough but it was a logging road after all. We heard someone had trouble with the dogs that are there to keep the wildlife at bay but we found them to be calm and no problem. The compost bucket was way better than the usual outhouses people have and was clean and no smell for us. We camped and had a great spot. We also had dinner with Eden and it was awesome as was the company. ZigaZig was a bit flakey but part of the experience. We would go again as it is only a half hour from stuff and we want to try the cabins lol.... The shower we didn't try but will next time...it's outdoor living people and way off grid so a choice thing.

Over a dozen open fecal matter buckets, some tipped over/overflowing, strewn around (not just "eco-composting"), as well as a psychologically unwell host who stalks around and berates/belittles when having a bad day. Pure manipulation and easy to see when the "love and light" guru's switch has flipped in his mind and you become the target of his ranting and raging. Too much acid perhaps, but a dangerous man, don't bring your family unless you're willing to spin the wheel... stayed as a volunteer, perhaps the pay to stay is a different experience. Maybe this dude has finally cooked his goose. Entirely possible, and not all that unprobable.
