After a long day of traveling I dropped off my luggage, turned on the air in the room because someone had turned it off, grabbed my Hilton rewards credit card card, and went to the bar. After a brief conversation with the bartender trying to decide what I would have, she informed me she could not serve me without my id. I said lady I am 50 freaking years old. And I'm staying here and I'm a diamond member. She said it is the hotel rule. I said well it isn't worth it to me to walk back to my room and get a card and come back.

I was on the elevator with a guy that had snacks in his hand and said he left his beer downstairs for the same reason. He said he told them the same thing, I'm over 50 years old this is ridiculous.

It's funny because my husband and I were actually discussing bringing our grandchildren to this area and thought this might be a cool hotel but I think we might choose a different one.

It's a good location, but the customer service isn't what I'm used to for a Garden Inn.

Dear Guests, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. Please know that this is not a hotel rule but a state law, each of the bars/lounges are subjected to undercover visits and subjected to $20,000 fine (which has occurred) because an ID was not reviewed. Again, we apologize for any misunderstanding that may have occurred. If your travels bring you back to Chattanooga, please contact me directly to take care of your needs. -Andrea

The hotel was in a nice area. The rooms were remodeled with poor quality work. There were stains in the hallway carpet leading to the room.

Breakfast was good, however the gentleman taking out order messed it up using lettered abbreviations. I asked for spinach and was given sausage. The other person I was with order goat cheese and was given green peppers. He apologized and said "I guess he didn't understand s stands for spinach." The major problem with that is, I am a vegetarian.

After midnight I couldn't get the air conditioner to work. I called the front desk for help, he couldn't get it to work either. I was offered to move but given the time I declined. I was given a boxed fans which I was ok with. The rep told us the room would be comped for the inconvenience, but upon asking the manager it would only be 50%. Despite the Hilton satisfaction guarantee I was ok with that. But I was told upon check in my parking would be waived, only to look at the bill with a parking charge of $18.

I asked a late check out for 1 pm,  the manager said no but offered an extra hour. While I understand staffing needs of the hotel. I explained that I was stranded due to car troubles and would be updated at 1 pm on if I needed to an extra day. The GM said I could pay $39 for extention which is reasonable, but I wouldn't know before 1 if I needed to use that option. She offered 1215 no later. I was allowed to sit in the lobby, where I overheard her conducting business that should have taken place in an office. She spoke of a "young associate" making mistakes. She sounded extremely unhelpful on the phone to future guest about 3rd party (booking.com) reservations. The hotel itself was decent, but the customer service is not customer oriented.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. Please accept our apologies for any miscommunication that may have occurred. Due to the fact that you were unable to provide an exact time your vehicle would be completed, or if you would need an extra day due to the parts being delayed in arriving at the dealership and our limited housekeeping staff, we did offer a courtesy checkout until noon, and then extended to 1215p, and yes, we did offer a $39 rate to allow you to stay in the room until whenever that evening you would be able to pickup your vehicle. Also, please know that the 3rd party guest conversation ended with everyone happy with the outcome--he actually booked with hotel directly. :) Again, we regret that you feel we did not empathize with your situation, please know that the parking charges have been rebated, and we did honor the discussion that took place with you and the evening staff regarding discounting your rate. I am not sure the conversation you overheard, but there was a discussion about what is the best way to teach an evening new hire about managing 3rd party reservations. I hope the above explains somewhat the process our team was working under during your time on property. Please, if you are ever back in this area, reach out to me directly to take care of your lodging needs. Enjoy your day!

Stop being cheap on breakfast. If I pay $200 a night, the kids should be able to eat a muffin or cereal. Charging everyone $10 for a cheap pancake without fruit or toppings is ridiculous. Calling the breakfast nook a restaurant is ridiculous.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. Unfortunately, I believe there may have been some confusion regarding our breakfast cost & offerings. Adults pay $10.95, children ages 7-12 $6.95, 6 and under are complimentary. We offer an "all-you-can-eat" buffet with eggs cook to order, omelets, french toast, waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, yogurt, fresh fruit, breads, biscuits, pastry, oatmeal, grits, and a variety of other items including "special of the day". When your schedule allows, please call the hotel and we will do our absolutely best to ensure that you were not overcharged. -Andrea

Hilton had missed the mark on this property. If you ever want to feel like you’re paying 2050 prices for a room but have the nostalgia of 2004 then look no further! Dirty and old are the first two adjective that come to mind. Don’t let the lobby fool you!!!

We had a great stay here for the Ironman 70.3. You can't beat the location and the hotel was welcoming to athletes with extra stuff set up like a pasta buffet the night before the race. The hotel was great. Very clean, not too much noise, had everything we needed. Breakfast was good with plenty of options and the store offered plenty of snacks. All of the staff were welcoming and made our stay enjoyable.

When we asked to have our room cleaned, staff rudely said that we had to call the next day after verifying that we were staying for 3 nights (the minimum to have a cleaning, apparently, despite the 100% satisfaction guarantee). When we called the next morning, we were told that they would not clean our room. They did manage to supply one roll of toilet paper.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your comments about your recent stay. Please accept our apologies for the way the stayover service was communicated. We have shared these with our team to enable us to better take care of the needs during their stay. Unfortunately, due to the fact that our housekeeping team is now all contract labor, a 24-hour notice is necessary to ensure that we have the staff available to take care of all stayover requests. But our goal is that we try to accommodate every guest need. If your travels bring you back to Chattanooga, please reach out to me directly to take care of your lodging needs. At your service, Andrea

We had planned to stay at the Hampton inn & suites but their pool was closed for repairs which was a huge disappointment for us. Thankfully with help from a wonderful front desk lady, Lana, we switched to this hotel which is only a block from the other one. Although very busy, Lana helped us with the rate, and got us the same type room we had at Hampton. The pool at the Garden Inn is smaller, but had a hot tub which was great. Just like everywhere else, they are struggling to hire enough employees with business picking up, but every worker we saw was friendly and helpful in spite of being extra busy. Courtney at the front desk was very helpful in helping us arrange the pick up of our rented mobility scooter. Location is great for Aquarium, restaurants and shops. We would stay again

My husband, 2 teenagers, and I spent thanksgiving in Chattanooga and I am so happy I chose this hotel for our stay! Chris is a delightful friendly helpful person at the front desk. Courtney is personable and talkative, and helped us to feel right at home. Andy is a fun friendly bar tender and the prices at the bar are very reasonable. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed. The breakfast was really perfect- my teenagers could order French toast and waffles; my husband and I could get omelettes made to order. We used the workout room and the valet parking was on point. We are going to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn every time we come to Chattanooga. I highly recommend it!

The hotel staff was extremely courteous and made sure everything was top notch. Our room was not quite ready when we arrived, but the staff made every effort to accommodate this as soon as possible. The room was extremely clean and the breakfast was very good. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the aquarium and restaurants and it certainly did not disappoint.

When we travel the hot tub is a valuable experience for us. The hot tub in the pool area is extremely small fits like 4 people. Also the hot tub on the particular evening wasnt working properly it was Luke warm at best. We reported the problem, someone came and looked at it and didn't resolve the issue.

The hotel was ok, nice rooms, staff was a bitq snobby, and I'd probably try a different hotel the next time we go thru Chattanooga.
