Vacay w/grandkids, arrived Sunday at approx. 5:00PM EST and we were informed at check-in that there would be no housekeeping available during our stay. Found it a bit out of the ordinary, but grandkids were ready for soon pool time and so were we. Caution... Pool was over chlorinated to the point that it started to burn our throats and eyes. Needless to say pool time lasted less than 30minutes. Day two, informed manager on duty that the chlorine level was so high as to cause a burning sensation in both throat and eyes. To their credit all they did was open the door to the patio area with a trash can. Day three, pool still over chlorinated and no pool time. Day four, asked the duty manager Andrea to please service the room, only to be told that "Yes" rooms can be serviced but only after providing a 24 hours notice. Need I say that it was never on their website of the location we are staying at, nor was it printed and posted anywhere in the lobby, at the check-in desk, elevator, or the room. Compromise was and I quote " I'll have house keeping up there today at six PM". Came back from dinner at seven PM only to find the room not serviced. No fresh towels, no coffee, no toilet paper, no trash removed, no vacumed carpet, no mopped floors, no toilet cleaned, and no fresh linens. Call down to the front desk and the duty manger "Chris" was upstairs within 10 minutes with some coffee, cups, towels, and the ever important and life saving toilet paper. Chris immediately took ownership of the situation and asked what would be the best time torrow (Thursday) to have our room service. Chris gets five stars for taking ownership of a problem that was not his doing. Andrea gets zero (0) stars, and the hotel gets an overall score of 2.5. Not pleasant experience for two seasoned world travellers. Breakfast on site was 5 stars each and every day.

Response from Andrea Anderson, General Manager at Hilton Garden Inn Chattanooga Downtown

Dear Guest, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. Please know that we take all comments seriously--we do apologize for the situation that arose with the communication that took place with our staff that came in late afternoon regarding the cleaning of your room. Unfortunately, due to the fact that we have not been able to return to the staffing level pre-COVID, servicing a room must be a 24-hour notice to ensure we have staff available. If your travels bring you back to Chattanooga, please reach out to me directly for your lodging needs. -Andrea

When traveling for business, I typically find myself at a Hilton Garden Inn property and am always pleased with my overall experience. The staff is always prompt and courteous. The rooms are always fresh and the food is typically good if just need to grab dinner at the hotel.

This visit was with my son for his spring break.

As I expected, the staff was excellent. They were nice, prompt and made the experience easy.

Unfortunately, the room we had was showing some significant wear. The room was clean - most importantly the bedding, but the furniture was pretty beaten up. The shower curtain was starting to discolor and the wall paper in the bathroom was torn in a few places.

The room service food was a mixed bag. The caesar salad was fine, but the pesto chicken flat bread was horrible. I've ordered this item at other Hilton Garden Inns and have always found it to be well made. Typically, the dough is crisp, light on cheese and nice grilled chicken with good flavor.

The flat bread at this restaurant was the complete opposite. The inedible flat bread was a barely cooked piece of dough buried under a ton of melted cheese with large pieces of undercooked chicken. DO NOT order this item.

Again, if you need a hotel and rates are comparable it is fine, but I may be looking elsewhere the next time I am in Chattanooga unless the rooms are freshened up. And I won't be ordering room service again.

Please know that conversations have been held with the F&B Manager & Staff regarding your experience and the quality of item that you ordered for room service. Also, during the month of March, the hallways and guest room bathrooms will be updated with new wallpaper. If your travels bring you back to Chattanooga & our property, please try the flatbread entrée again--this will be our treat. Enjoy your day! @

First, be aware there is a 17% tax per night on hotels here, so keep that in mind when booking. That brings our total to $220/night. These Hilton is nothing more than a Days Inn. For that price, we should have free breakfast, robes, at least friendly service. The employees are not unfriendly, they're just kind of here, no smiles, no out-their-way helpfulness. The room is far from the cleanest I've stayed in. The little cards that tell info have stains on them, there's hair on the floor in the bathroom, and I don't think a white comforter is the best idea when trying to hide dirt. Also, the bed has some kind of firmness control, but to me, it feels like firm and firmer, not snuggly and comfortable. The A/C was set on 70 last night and I sweat all night, so tonight I'll be turning it down to 68 max. There's a restuarant I think that serves breakfast, but the room service menu is from another restaurant in town which seems odd to me. I just feel that for $220 a night (PLUS PARKING), I should wake up with a smile on my face to a free hot breakfast and be pleased abot every aspect of the hotel. I don't know how much other hotels in the area are, but I wouldn't stay at this one again. It was recommended by a friend, but I don't see why.

This hotel is situated directly beside the Chattanooga Creative Discovery Museum and the Chattanooga Lookouts stadium. We had easy walk access to several great restaurants and entertainment venues. The hotel itself is very nice. The dinner room service is exceptional. We stayed in a Junior Suite and had plenty of room. We had no issues with our stay and had a great time.

Very attentive staff to take care of all our needs and request. I would recommend this Hilton to others, especially families with children. Room service was very prompt along with check in and check out procedures. Parking was great for all our needs.
