    Fun and cool.
Gathering around and watching the show is an entertaining 30 mins. Marienplatz is a great central spot to hang out. The Rathskeller courtyard is a very cool spot to hang out and rest and at night has a great medieval feel.

    Unique clock
This clock is the centre piece of Marienplatz. The clock comes alive at 11am, 12pm, 5pm and 9pm daily. Its when the 43 bells and 32 figures will move and perform two historical events. You need to be there a bit early to secure a good spot to view the performance.

Great food in a lively atmosphere
Dined there twice and really like the place. Food is superb, and in generous portions, the bartender knows his/her cocktails, and the service is really good. There was no English menu the second time we went and they brought out one of the cooks, who was English, to walk us through the menu! Menu changes from day to day, so if they're serving their Osso Buco, order it, don't put that off, it is wonderfully done. Both times we were there were weekend nights during Christmas season, so it was happily noisy.

    Lovely and historical site
The clock does its performance twice a day and it's really worth taking the time to stop and see it. It's only 15 minutes and surprisingly intricate considering the construction. Keep an eye out for the golden rooster at the top because it's easy to miss it flapping its wings at the end.

    Cuckoo clock still works!!!
Thankfully we had a well needed guide during our tour of Old Town/City Center who shared with us that the glockenspiel (cuckoo clock) on the new town hall in Marienplatz still works. Stop by at 11am and you will see the dancing and hear the chimes of the clock. It is quite magical and something which NEEDS to be seen/heard while in Munich.

Very impressive. We had a guide who told us that the clock was built to entice people to get out of their homes again once the plague had passed. I would love to know if that is factual or just a convenient story.

Our tour guide had perfect timing for us to see this. About 5 minutes after we got to the square, the bells started to sound and the show began. It’s a Must See in Munich.

Worth seeing when the time changes on the hour. A nice sight in the city central square. Be careful with belongings when you're in the square though.

Clock tower located at the center of Munich, Marienplatz. The clock reenacts twice everyday, it is an interesting landmark to see. Although it gets really crowded, I would suggest a visit.

Stunning and a bit crowded at 11 am for the actual show. It is hard to miss and the back drop to the Christmas market is amazing
