The inside is eh, ok. Nothing spectacular and no pictures allowed. The history behind the castles and the castles themselves are truly fascinating. - Molly ELaGrange, GA7 contributionsThis was an excellent day trip, well worth the money and a big bucket list item for us. Don’t go on the weekend if it can be avoided. Instead of the expected 2 hour drive it took four hours to get there, which cut into how much time we had at the venues. The guide wasted about 15 min waiting for someone who never showed up, and that plus the traffic made us a few minutes late at Eagles Nest so that we had to wait for a later bus to the top. She had called to advise them that we needed the bus much later than expected but when we arrived they had displaced our group from that bus and pushed us even later. This drastically cut into our time at the document center so we only had about 45 min, which wasn’t really enough. The guide did all she could and we did get to see all promised locations, but if we had gone on a weekday it would have been better. The EN staff should not have bumped our group so that wasn’t the tour company’s fault, but they should know traffic is always an issue on summer weekends and accommodate for that by starting earlier or extending the length of the tour, etc.Written July 21, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Very comfortable accomodations and plenty of snacks. Our bus drivers was quite hospitable and kept us safe. - Esther N P54 contributionsIt was easy to find the meeting place for the bus. The bus ride was pleasant. Our tour guide was pleasant . Both castles were nice to look at. I think there was a little time to look around at the first castle, but ok. Neuschwanstein castle was beautiful, and the village is nice to walk around. The guide was funny and able to corral the full tour to be prompt and on time, hastening everyone's experience. We had a few transportation issues and he managed all of them with ease and never appeared stressed. With the delays, he asked if we wanted to extend our timeframe, even though it was his son’s birthday. He walked us around the grounds, explained customs and pointed out "not-to-miss features" then he escorted us to our reserved tables. We enjoyed the tour and the amount of beer included in the price. We were a bit disappointed by the quality of food served for dinner. Our tour guide, Alex, showed my family, including my son, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, age 13, grandson 12, and me, a joyous day that we will all remember while cruising around Munich.
Alex's personna, as well as his historical knowledge of Munich's long history, kept everyone's, including the kids, attention throughout the 4 hour tour.
After having done the same biking tour about 15 years ago, Alex was far superior to my last guide. His enthusiasm and personal interest in having everyone enjoy each moment shined through -- even during our periods of rain!
As " Grandma," I can assure all that the tour is doable for all ages.
