- Stuart HNorwich, United Kingdom189 contributionsInterestingGardens are nice and the carriage museum is worth a look. The palace was closed when we visited. It’s an enormous place and worth a look. My advice eat and drink before or after you visit as both are average and heavily over pricedVisited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten July 30, 2023
- muchadoUnited States229 contributionsBeautiful oasis in the middle of the cityTip 1: Buy tickets in advance unless you like standing in line. Audio guides are 3.50 each and you will need to stand in line for that. However, follow the next tip and hopefully, the lines will be short. Tip 2: Arrive promptly at 10 am (when they open) so you can leave before the doors of tour buses open and the crowds come forth and swallow you up. Tip 3: Pack a picnic because the gardens are beautiful and you can eat outside on benches. Don't sit on the grass as it is full of ticks! Tip 4: Go by Tram (16 or 17) because the view of the city is beautiful. Other than that, nothing more to add other than it is a beautiful palace and well organized. We had a wonderful day.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten August 4, 2023
- ktbeenthere2015New York City, New York265 contributionsA royally good dayTo get a glimpse of the life of Bavarian aristocracy, this is the place to go. Unless you are familiar with the royal genealogy, I recommend to pay the additional for the audio tour. The tour is adequate and sets you on the right path. The grounds are quite lovely to promenade. I would agree with other reviews that the staff are not welcoming, however the crowds probably would test the patience of Mother Theresa. I see another reviewer recommending arriving by 10 - probably good advice. Also, I had a small bag but had to check it…it was small. They do have lockers. If you like the area then a good nearby (25 minutes maybe ) walking destination traversing some nice roads through homes and shops is Königlicher Hirschgarten which is a beer garden along with some deer. The beer garden is not fancy or unique, but it is a great place to people watch - you can bring your own food at tables in the back or stay in the areas where there is full service. You are bound to have a nice day outside the confines of the city.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten August 13, 2023
- Autum WWorld5 contributionsImpressive placeExploring Nymphenburg Palace in Munich was a journey into Bavarian royalty and Baroque splendor. The palace’s grandeur, with its opulent interiors and expansive gardens, was a visual delight. The guided tours offered valuable insights into the history of the Wittelsbach dynasty and the significance of each room. Strolling through the palace grounds and admiring the cascading fountains and manicured lawns was a tranquil escape. The ornate details of the palace’s architecture and the craftsmanship of the period were awe-inspiring. The palace also houses museums, including the Marstallmuseum, showcasing royal carriages and sleighs. Nymphenburg Palace is a must-visit for history enthusiasts, art lovers, and anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the regal heritage of Bavaria.Visited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten September 20, 2023
- Andra F2 contributionsPalace with a beautiful exterior and a nice park that had interesting small houses and lakesThe palace architecture is very nice, there are some lakes in front and in the back. The interior does not have many rooms to visit and I think it costs too much for what you have to see but if you are a history fan or you like rococo style is worth it. I liked more the small buldings from the park of the palace. The park of the palace is free of charge but the small buldings from the park are not free. The buildings are situated on each side of the small river/lake that passes through the middle of the park and are two on each side. You have a lot to walk, it takes about 2-3 hours to reach all of them. I recomend wearing sport shoes because the pathways in the park are covered with gravel. One of the buildings from the park is a hunting lodge, a bathhouse, a relaxation house with oriental inspired decorations and a chapel that has on the inside the look of a grotto. As a possible downside is that the toilets were situated only in the main palace building and were closed from time to time for 15 mins for cleaning.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten September 20, 2023
- Mogster2014Abertillery, United Kingdom272 contributionsWell Worth ItI would highly recommend a visit to the palace, though only a few rooms in the main body are open, they are quite breathtaking. I notice some people saying the entrance fee is too expensive but I would disagree, much cheaper than it would be in the UK and the rooms have been restored to such a high standard. It must have cost a fortune. The stables with all the coronation coaches and sleighs in must be seen as is the hall of mirrors. It’s a beautiful place and the overall size is massively impressive.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 29, 2023
- Krishna S. KhaituBhaktapur, Nepal17 contributionsSo beautiful, so elegant and and just looks like a wow!!!A very historic place to be once in a lifetime . Lots more to explore and learn about it to share with friends and family. As we are in winter we definitely enjoyed the walk around the garden which is well maintained and cleaned. Walking on nature itself has a beauty and the energy we gained after that is so amazing. I missed the view of the statues around the palace and garden areas because it is covered with wooden boxes to prevent snow . There is always you trying to find the reason to come back. So it is for me for sure 😊Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten January 2, 2024
- elawson635 contributionsEasy parking, beautiful palace, boring audio tourBeautiful rooms but the audio tour is so boring. Endless commentary on the artwork instead of the people who lived there. So if you are into hearing about every painting on the ceiling, go for it. "Here is the nyphm of the stream. She is holding a water lily in one hand and a birch leaf in the other." (Paraphrasing!) They should really take a page from Schonbronn Palace's or The Breakers' audio tours where you hear anecdotes.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten January 5, 2024
- David LouisLiverpool, United Kingdom8 contributionsmemorable tripBeautiful historic palace situated in western Munich – the grounds are massive, while the palance itself is extraordinary. In short, definitely worth the price and visit. Can easily spend 1-2 hours in the palace itself while another 1-2 hours walking around the grounds, through the various ponds, streams, and structures around. Lots of historical info through each of the palace rooms. Minor unfortunate thing are some of the additional buildings are an extra cost, so difficlut to determine whether worth itVisited January 2024Travelled soloWritten January 16, 2024
- bikeswitzerlandGeneva, Switzerland63 contributionsA bit far just to visit the groundsWe just visited the grounds and did not go inside the palace. I would jave gladly paid to go into the botanical gardens, but it was unmanned and could not figure out how to ise the app to open the door. Although the grounds were lovely, they were not “amazing”. I would have preferred spending the day wandering the English Garden.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten May 3, 2024

Good day out. Tram 17 has a stop here then you can reach the place in a few minutes. The palace interiors screams opulence. Makes you wonder the parties they had there. Enjoyed walking on the nerby park. The ticket grants you access on a few buildings. Make sure to visit Pagodenburg and Baden urg. A definite stop when visiting Munich.

After visiting Versailles and Fontainebleau in France this palace was a real let down. At least I managed to tick it off my bucket list.

A bit out of the way of the city centre, and quite expensive for what it was. Perhaps better with an audio guide but I didn't spend more than 45 minutes there

We enjoyed our time here. Parking is free and ample along the various parts of the driveway leading up to the palace, but it will take 5 to 10 minutes to reach the palace once you park. Admission to the grounds is free, and there is plenty to enjoy outside. Many people come here just to jog or walk or bike. Admission to the palace costs 8 euros. The palace is fine, but it was my least favorite of all the palaces we visited in Bavaria (Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee being more impressive); there is only 1 floor to visit, and the information/decorations are a little underwhelming, but worth checking out. (It is not possible to view the palace without a tour.) We also bought admission to the Carriages and Sleigh Museum/Porcelain Museum, which was excellent and had a tremendous amount of information. All in all, we enjoyed our 3.5 hours here (lunch at Palmenhaus and exploring the palace, museums, and grounds).

We chose to skip the palace museum here as we had spent hours at Munich Residenz previous day.
It was a sunny morning with a promise of an equally sunny early afternoon. So we decided to just enjoy the free gardens at this palace.
We spent 2 plus hours walking and taking in the beauty of the gardens and water bodies in it. While the gardens don’t have the beautiful musical fountains of Versailles, their natural and manmade beauty is impressive

This is our second time visiting, both the first time we were able to experience the entire property…a mind-blowing experience of historical significance for the kingdom of Bayern AND a great way to get your steps in…make sure you stretch prior!

Very pretty from the outside and wide gardens/lakes with lovely interior architecture/interesting history. Only complaint is that it is a bit out of the way

We visited this palace on a recent trip to Germany. It was so beautiful and hard to believe it was only a summer palace! The gardens are amazing as well. Well worth your time to see.

Qualcuno sa se è possibile lasciare le valigie (due trolley piccoli e zaini) al guardaroba? Grazie :)

I don't know, I didn't bring a suitcase, however nobody there that day walking into the grounds or standing at the entrance line had anything. Backpacks stayed on people, I didn't see any disappear. So I think not.

Does anybody know why it always appears to be cancelled payment when trying to do so? I have tried many times with my card from different banks in the UK, it's awkward but still not successful.
Written June 21, 2022
I can’t answer your question directly but it’s easy enough to pay directly on the day of your visit at the palace. Hope this helps.

Hello, I'm hoping someone can tell me when curling on the canal generally starts? I will be in Munich at the beginning of December for the Christkindlmarkts and am wondering if curling will have started by then. Thanks!

Sorry, I am also unfamiliar with winter events in Munich.

HI, wich one of these tickets is reasonable?, single palace ticket (6euro) or combination ticket (11.5euro), I will be there in December.
Written November 1, 2019
If you intend to spend some time there it is best value to buy the Combo.

Is it reasonable to take a taxi from downtown Munich? About how far would it be? Estimated cost?
Written August 13, 2019
I don’t know about a taxi, but what I can tell you is that if you take the 16 or 17 tram to Romanplatz (as there are some construction works) and then take the 17 replacement bus (all of this is very cheap as you buy one ticket for 1 zone) then you arrive directly outside the palace. This is how I travelled to my hostel and saw the palace on my trip, and decided to go. This does not take long at all to do and is very easy to sort out- I think this would be much cheaper than a taxi, and would take around the same amount of time.

Non credo che all'interno del castello si possa entrare con un cane, fanno lasciare anche gli zaini e le macchine fotografiche. Nel parco credo non ci siano problemi
