- David BEl Barco de Avila, SpainThis is a lovely museum. For us the highlight was the collection of wonderful limewood religious carvings which are incredibly detailed and intricate. There is also a fine collection of interiors brought from around Bavaria as well as extensive collections of porcelain and models of towns and cities of the Region.Written June 18, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David BEl Barco de Avila, SpainThis museum houses a collection of Greek and Etruscan artefacts displayed in a traditional manner. The quality of the exhibits is high but some rooms were closed when we visited so it was quite a short visit. That said we enjoyed the museum and entry was included in the admission price of the Glyptothek situated on the opposite side of KonigsplatzWritten June 22, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alan FSouthampton, UKThere were four floors of exhibits, called Typically Munich, explaining the history of Munich. Navigation was slightly confusing as we needed to use the lift, rather than stairs, to get from floor to floor, but we enjoyed listening to the audio guide as we went around.
The exhibition on the rise of Hitler and the NSDAP is in a separate building, but shouldn't be missed. It covers the era, and particularly the involvement of Munich itself, comprehensively, although there is nothing about how German society subsequently recovered from the influence of the Nazis.Written June 19, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Unlike other Jewish museums this one appears to shy away from telling the story of the holocaust and in particular the people of Munich’s role in that. It is not clear why. but one can only presume this is politically motivated.
The temporary exhibition ‘In the labyrinth of the times’ has few objects, for good reason, not many survived, but it really does not need 2 floors. The story why there is an absence of objects is important and requires more analysis.
That said, it is important that this institution is here at all and it needs to be supported.Written August 12, 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were deeply impressed by the professionalism, kindness and information received from Daniel Mielcarek. I recommend that you visit it if you are in Munich. We also toured the museum and I still remember it. I recommend this museum.
