We had a delightful dinner in an outside courtyard. My pork loin in burgundy sauce was excellently prepared, coupled with very light potato crisps. My wife had the grilled goat cheese with mushroom sauce and gluten free rolls, also very tasty. Servings were very ample; one serving could be shared by most adults, so a couple could share an appetizer and a main dish. Servers were very attentive, offering suggestions for the best wine for our preferred dishes. As the name implies, it’s close to the old market.

I brought a large group of work colleagues here for dinner during a business trip. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the food, including our vegan and gluten free friends. I would gladly come here again, the food is so much better than what you get at the large beer halls. It is a very small restaurant so you should make a reservation (but really that's good advice for any restaurant in Munich).

Enjoyed for evening dinner.
Fish was very nice but short on prawns.
Ribeye steak was ok but slightly fatty
Nice wine
Good service
Nice setting (outside).
Would we return? Probably yes.

Very near Viktualienmarkt you can find this traiditional German bar/gaststätte. We had a few beers and its was fine. The interior is full of a mixture of old wood and strange objects; and this time of the year with extra Christmas decorations.

We’ve been to Munich many times but visited Zum Alten Markt for the first time on a recent trip. Excellent restaurant - more like one you would see in a smaller Bavarian town rather than the centre of Munich. The food was excellent as was the service. We will definitely go back in the future.

Heard about this place and wanted to try it - expectations were well exceeded. Great atmosphere, awesome team, fab food, not only a dinner but an experience in a cosy atmosphere, fun crowd and a caring team that serves delicious food. Love it!

Zum Alten Markt was a return request by most of my group based on previous experience.
Reservations were easily made online.
The location is very convenient, right off of Victuelenmarkt, and the decor is lovely.
The service could not have been better! Attentive and friendly. Unfortunately due to new ownership the menu is not what it was.
Our group was somewhat disappointed, and Zum Alten Markt will not likely be on our itinerary next time🤷♂️.

A fiend booked this place for our group of 6, and it was a great choice. It is tucked behind the Viktualienmarkt in a lovely setting. The menu was delightful and we all enjoyed lovely meals and drinks. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would visit again.

This was a fantastic restaurant. Nestled into a quiet street with an outdoor area under the trees. The service was great and the food was excellent. Very dog friendly, neighborhood feel. We didn’t sit inside but it looked cozy and inviting.

Starting from the fresh garden salad with honey mustard dressing, to the asparagus with a Bretzen-Schnitzel to the rhubarb cake dessert it was a excellent culinary experience in the heart of Munich. There is a high attention to detail, nice staff and a cozy deco.

Chose to eat here on our last night in Munich. Good food and reasonably priced. A little too pushy with enquiries for more drinks, deserts etc. lovely decor and atmosphere though.

This restaurant is a traditional place.
We had a best Wiener schnitzel and all the other dishes we tried, including the spaetzle and chicken, were excellent.

Second time here after many years. A little disappointing or underwhelming in terms of food and service. Nice outside seating. And yes, we were a group of more than 15. But it was just not what we remembered.

Sat outside which was nice. Good service. Very nice food. My only comment would be that the menu was a little limited. The surrounding area had other eating and drinking options so a good location to go to
