The Hilton Barcelona garners mixed feedback, with some guests finding the atmosphere lacking in warmth and the lounge disappointing, while others enjoy the executive lounge and sizable rooms. Its location is commended for convenience to transport and dining, but is considered a bit distant from major tourist attractions. While the cleanliness and service often receive high marks, with staff noted as attentive and rooms maintained well, the hotel's value and room decor have faced criticism, suggesting a need for updates and better pricing.

Hotel's Favourite
We spent 6 days on beautiful Barcelona in May and we booked this hotel with points.
We found this hotel to be impeccable with very professional and friendly staff especially the lobby staff.
The location is not close to any of the typical tourist attractions of Barcelona but is it on a gorgeous tree lined avenue with super wide side walk and is a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the old town. The hop-on-hop-off bus stop is around the corner and we used it extensively to get to the attractions and take a nice ride back to our hotel in the afternoon to rest.
Around the hotel are plenty of authentic restaurants catering to local clientele so no need to take a taxi to go out to diner. The food is fantastic like everywhere in Spain.
The rooms are clean and modern especially the bathroom and everything worked perfectly including the AC (we didn't need it much in May but it looks like it can handle the summer heat of Barcelona). The room had a safe like all Hiltons do.
The Executive Suite for HH members was good and had a section with very comfy couches. The wine, beer and liquor selections were excellent. The food while very tasty, was a bit generic. I wish they had focused more on typical Spanish tapas instead of the usual fried finger food that you find at any other place.
The breakfast area is spacious and the food and beverage selection is outstanding. Iberico ham is off course a staple but they had the full buffet with a great choice of cheeses and breads. The coffee was excellent as well.
They have a beautiful bar area with plenty of seats. We never used the bar (since we have the lounge) but they look like pros with their cocktails.
Overall we were extremely happy with the hotel. We were initially apprehensive about having to take taxis to all the attractions but we ended up loving the beautiful and vibrant location without feeling crowded out like in old town.
Highly recommended.

Dear Resortmole, Thank you very much for your valuation and detailed feedback. Indeed, we feel exactly as you do about the location of our Hilton Barcelona where you can be away from the crowded city center but at the same time feeling the authenticity of the city. We are taking good note from your suggestion about the food on the executive lounge, and together with the Chef improve that offer. Thanking you once more and looking forward to welcome you back should it be in your plans. Kind Regards Hilton Barcelona Team

Hilton Barcelona is located in the heart of Barcelona, only about a 4 minute cab ride from Camp Nou (FC Barcelona stadium). It is just 5 minute walk from Maria Cristina Metro stop (Line L3 Barcelona Metro). We booked one room with points and at that time it cost 50,000 Hilton HHonors points per night while another with cash ($160 USD per night after taxes).

Thumbs up:

Great location in the heart of Barcelona around a lot of dining options on Avenida Diagonal street
Only 5 minutes walk to nearest metro stop Maria Cristina (Line L3)
Great breakfast buffet in Mosaic restaurant
Thumbs down:

50,000 Hilton HHonors points per night makes it an average value at best, and poor at worst

Due to the BA IT failure, we woke on the day of our departure from Barcelona to a message saying do not travel to the airport. We held off booking any hotel until we’d heard from BA, but at 7pm and no sign of a phone call we decided to book the Hilton Barcelona as the hotel we had been staying at was full, we thought the Hilton was slightly closer to the airport (although it turns out it isn’t really) and we knew we, as Diamond members, would get breakfast included for our stay.

The Hilton Barcelona is in the Les Corts de Sarrià district, an area I have haven’t spent much time in at all, but it is a wonderfully relaxed and quiet part of town. It seems like a totally different city, compared to the hustle and bustle of Plaça de Catalunya.

Despite arriving only an hour or so after having booked the room, we were impressed to see that reception staff were not phased at all, were expecting us and the sofa bed had already been prepared. We had a room on quite a high floor, but the view was less than spectacular, mostly overlooking residential apartments. As the room was a suite, it was an excellent size and the lounge (where the sofa bed had been made up) still had chairs and an excellent sized desk. I was bemused (and frustrated) to see that the bedroom had an interconnecting door, but given the nature of our late arrival didn’t feel we should ask to move rooms. Indeed, the following morning I could still hear the guests next door talking, but it was not too bad and they left quite early.

In the local area, you do not get the wide range of eating options that you do centrally, but we found a lovely pizza restaurant for dinner and Concordia Square is a lovely traffic free area to relax and have some drinks.

Having finally received a call from BA at 11pm and managed to secure tickets to get us home, we now knew we didn’t have to rush to the airport for an early morning flight, so we were able to enjoy breakfast. Unfortunately, this was not the Hilton breakfast I was hoping for. I have stayed at some Hilton’s with a truly incredible spread. This is not one of those. There was an adequate choice and the kitchen were happy to make me an omelette, which was fine, but the lack of selection was very surprising. Had we paid for breakfast I would probably have mentioned how unimpressed I was at checkout. I was also disappointed to discover that the Executive Lounge was closed.

This hotel is very comfortable, but also very corporate. You don’t really get the true sense you are in Barcelona here and there are other neighbourhoods of Barcelona that I would like to stay in next time we are back.

We’ve faced many issues in this hotel. First of all, at check-in I’ve asked, if due to holding Diamond status we could be upgraded. I was ensured that all better rooms are sold out. Then it turned out that the safe in our room does not work. First technician came quickly, but he didn’t fix it. He asked another one that came 15 min later and left promptly saying he will be beck in 5 min. He didn’t come back in 30 min, so we’ve already lost an hour waiting to fix our room. Then I went to reception, showing that Hilton webpage indicates that upgraded rooms are available. It turned out that there 3-or 4 available and we could be upgraded.

The biggest disappointment is however executive lounge. The hotel should seriously consider whether not to shot it down, if they continue to provide service like this.

The evening snack lasts for 2 hours, between 6 and 8 pm, and offers the worst snack ever in Hilton lounges – 4 types of sandwiches, all in white bread and 3 types of deep fried snacks – no salads, no vegetables, nothing healthy or tasty – all really crap, which is especially surprising that it is Spain – country with great food. On top out of 3 evenings the snacks were finished 0,5h before, so at 7.30pm and were not replaced. We literally asked lounge reception for more food and we were told that kitchen does not have sufficient ingredients to prepare more food. Can you believe?

After 8pm, once evening snack is finished there is literally nothing to eat – no chips, no nuts, no cookies etc. Seems not to be Hilton lounge standard.

On top 40 min before lounge closing they start cleaning service, including vacuum. Nobody cares that guests are still there – you don’t feel very welcome.

It is definitely not the hotel I’d like to visit again.

We stayed 4 nights and we arrived after midnight in the hotel and I've been charged another 520 euro, even if the room was already paid. We came into the room and shampoo and shower gel were only for one person, too tired to ask and wait for someone, so we decided to ask for it the other day. The breakfast was very poor, there was no selection in general, for sweets just empty croissants. The bacon I had, was hard and overcooked every day. About the executive lounge, (closed because of covid) is arranged in the bar. We asked for a glass of wine and a small plate of tapas was served. The wine was refilled but not the food. One day we arrived 10 minutes after 8 pm and I asked to have two glasses of wine without food, and the response was ''is not 8 pm anymore''. For this reason the other days we didn't come at all to the bar. The other days every time we came back to the hotel there was only one shampoo and shower gel so we again called every time to replace the things. What made me really disappointed was that there was no experience from this hotel. Hilton chain is not selling just rooms, is the all complex that makes everything unique, otherwise, I could book an apartment for a cheaper price. I'm a Diamond member and to reach this level you have to travel a lot. I stayed at different Hilton properties and I felt at home always, that's why I continue to book at Hilton. This time it was a failure from all the points of view. Even being a Diamond member didn't change anything.

This was my first time visiting Barcelona and therefore was not sure where to stay. There was nothing actively bad about the hotel, but there was also nothing amazing about it either.
For Dimond members, we received free breakfast for 2 people in the room and had a free drink at night at the bar as the executive lounge is currently closed due to COVID.
To get the room cleaned you have to called down each morning as they are not cleaning them automatically. The breakfast was the exact same every morning with eggs, bacon, salad, yogurt, cereal and bread. It was very exciting, but also was plenty of food.
The gym is open and is pretty nice, but has limited equipment.
The A/C in the room worked really well and got very cold at night which was amazing.
Our room door stopped working the last night and the only way for us to get into the room was by using the master key. So we had to always find staff, re-explain each time about our room to have them let us in. The staff didn't communicate with each other which was annoying and the only item offered was an apology by the night staff, but not from the morning staff who thought we were crazy and forced us to go through the entire process again.

It was a very pleasurable experience to stay here and we found the staff and service to be very professional and helpful.

We stayed in a Suite and found it well decorated with good air conditioning and plenty of space. The room service menu is one of the larger ones I've seen in a Hilton which provides plenty of options.

I wasn't amazed by the Executive Lounge but it was ok to visit for a few minutes to refresh/grab a snack - the service was excellent but the ambience isn't as comfortable as other lounges.

I'd happily stay in the hotel again and the location is convenient to jump on the metro or bus to the city centre (15 mins).

We redeemed some Hilton Honors points for an Executive room here and checked in online to pick room 502 with access to the Executive Lounge on the fourth floor via stairs. It was a small room overlooking the park with trees in front of the window. The décor was smart if a bit dated. There was a huge and comfortable bed, a desk, tv, fridge, kettle. The wardrobe / fridge were behind a neat sliding glass door. There were lots of sockets including a UK one, but no USBs. The only slight quirk was that the safe in the wardrobe wasn't connected to anything, so you could just carry it away!
The bathroom was small but had a big bath with a shower over, and a bidet. The heated towel rail didn’t work and there were no bathrobes. The Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries were replenished daily.
The location is not ideal if you want to be in the centre, but it has good links by metro and bus to the main sights in Barcelona and lots of shopping nearby.
The lifts struggle to cope with demand - there are only three in a big hotel.
The Executive Lounge has two distinct areas, one set out for eating and one with more comfortable chairs: there is free wine, beer and snacks from 6-8 pm. The service wasn't as good as other lounges we have been to: for example, they told a woman at 8:10pm that she couldn’t have any water as the lounge closed at 8pm.
We had breakfast in the restaurant: a large buffet with hot bacon, sausage, eggs and hash browns. It was very good, but best to get down early as it gets busy.

Check in was quick and easy, Diogo at the Front Desk was very hospitable and took the time to give us some basic tips about Barcelona. The room was very clean, crisp linens, great shower. We stayed for 4 nights and only requested to have our room cleaned once, my wife and I kept it clean and organized as everyone should, specially nowadays, but daily service is available for the needy old school travelers.
Breakfast was very good and so was the food at the bar in the evening. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around and a subway station within blocks that connect you to the entire city.
If I can offer one positive criticism would be to improve the TV channel line up, we didn't have much time in the room but the only english channel we found was CNN.

Hey guys, I have been traveling to Barcelona for quite some time and stayed many times at this Hilton.

I have to say that the quality is no longer of a Hilton. Everything from staff to room quality has dropped. Even the toiletries have been swapped. No room noise cancellation and bath quality were the least I expect to be at par but even that has been disappointing.

Being a member of both hilton and marriot, I strongly recommend the AC Hotel Lilla next door for likely 10-20 euros mores.

Have a great time!

I think they have USB chargers, but I had my own adoptor for my laptop. This may also depend on the type of room offered (e.g., executive floor)..

As a past guest can confirm that there are taxis waiting very close to the hotel in its courtyard or you can hail a taxi from the main road literally in front of the hotel. From the cruise, when people dis-embark, there is long line of taxis waiting for passengers. We took a taxi from the hotel to the Cruiseport and it was a quick 15-20 min ride from the hotel.

Hi Glen, To be honest I'm not too sure I can answer your question. You'd be better advised to talk directly with the Hilton Barcelona. I suspect they may well be able to accommodate your request as by the time you get there from Barcelona Airport they may well have availability for you to check in.
