This resort is located very centrally, easy access to main street, buses, market, long beach beside great for walking, bay in front of resort has amazing snorkeling (many colors and varieties of fish, large and small, sea turtle, some coral), don't waste your money on a snorkeling tour as the bay is way better. The rooms are very large, have a huge bathroom with large tub and shower, two sinks, have a sitting area with couch and chair, large balcony facing the pool and ocean. Due to low occupancy, the a la carte restaurants only had one open every night. The food was good, lots of variety, the japanese a la carte was good the first night we went, then they changed the menu (much smaller, sushi only) and we were disappointed. The mexican a la carte was our least favorite (we had had mexican food in town and it was much better) however the view and ambiance of this restaurant was top notch!! The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. The adult pool area was very nice, not many chairs so did have to get there to get a spot, Daniel Hernandez was amazing - so friendly, big smile, visited, very prompt, awesome!! Manzanillo is a beautiful mexican get away, more people need to go to this gem!!

The Barcelo Karmina currently does not have the same level of amenities as usual, but they deserve the 5 stars for keeping us safe during this pandemic. We were there at the end of September 2020. They went out of their way to make sure everyone was wearing their masks and everything was constantly being cleaned in all the public areas and restaurants. A lot of the activities were not available yet, but we still enjoyed the beach, the pool areas, and the restaurants. The Club Premium room was closed which was very disappointing since this was not explained when we made our reservations through the Barcelo website. We complained to the manager, Ernesto, and he apologized that the website does not explain this. He allowed us to check in early and made sure we got the type of room we requested. This was very minor though. The wonderful staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. We had the Mexican, Japanese, and Italian dinners and they were all amazing and very authentic! Keep up the good work Ernesto and Crew, we will definitely be back and hope your Club Premium room will be open next time!

Good place, great pools and beach. Bathrooms could be cleaner and our private pool was cold. The premier info made it seem laundry easy included but it wasn’t. Wine was expensive, the Mexican restaurant food was not to our liking but the Japanese was great!

Room service menu is limited and what we received often was wrong or missing items. One never showed up. We had a leak in the overhead gutter on patio that ruined our headphones as well. Lastly we were charged for 3 rides from airport to resort when we only had 2 and were prepaid yet my partner was made to pay full cash 60$ for his ride I had already booked in advance and paid.

The beach is small Sndricky but warm. We were charge for 2 complimentary beach towels that were never changed theatre were returned to the towel stand before departing, and we did not receive the discount voucher.
Spa services were great and view very nice. Good drinks, great fruit, prawns and juices. We were able to order replacement items damaged by the water leak but were offered no compensation.

Just returned from Karmina Palace and Manzanillo MX very early this morning after a weeks stay. Had one of the best vacations EVER!! This is the second time to KP. The first time was about 16 years ago. The hotel is beautiful, grand, stately. It has amazing pools and gardens. Our room was very large with an extremely spacious bathroom. LOVED the deep tub for soaking. Our maid for room 3202 was FANTASTIC! Wish I had her name. So many delightful people that we met and that served us so beautifully throughout the week. Our daughter loved playing volleyball with the hotel activities staff and the other tourists. The weather was pretty much near perfect with only a few showers but otherwise low 80's and wonderful sunshine. The reason I would not give this hotel five stars would be for the following reasons: rooms could use some updating, front entry to the hotel needs some help with vegetation to make it look more "WOW", I would not recommend writing on the glass above the buffet with grease markers (printed professional signage would be so much more classy), ala carte restaurants were delicious especially the Japanese and Mexican but you can only eat at them three times for a one week stay (a suggestion would be to charge more and let people go every day if they wanted), the buffet area looks a bit like a school cafeteria, and I would also make the buffet food more spectacular (good but average food at the buffet.) Absolutely loved the restaurant that was open for lunch that served off of a menu by the pools and served as the Italian restaurant at night. (One more improvement would be a better snack bar menu by the beach and the pool area.) I must also comment on one of your employees...his name is Eduardo (Nuno) Melendez. He teaches English to your staff. We met him on the hotel beach while he was selling us a snorkeling tour. What an absolute asset he is to your hotel and to Mexico!!!! Beyond delightful! You have a gem in Mr. Melendez.!! Truly, we can't say enough about the wonderful time of rest, fun, and delightful experiences that we had this past week at the Karmina Palace. Thank you to all of you that made our stay so special!

This was definitely our last visit, after so many years of coming here. The Hotel is in pretty bad shape for the price. Rooms are dated and stinky, AC is noisy and it just gives you the feeling of an old place. On top of that, you get mixed service, it almost looks like they are doing you a favor. On our most recent visit, we booked a few rooms to celebrate our anniversary and they couldn’t even accommodate us on a king size bed, that absolutely ruined the experience. The staff didn’t even try to make our experience better, it really makes you feel like you are asking for a favor. We have visited several other all inclusive resorts around the world and this is the only place we have felt like we almost have to apologize for asking. That’s why I can’t recommend this place anymore, they have to really make improvements and understand that guests are always first. The sad part is that management does nothing other tnan acknowledge they are doing wrong. They really meed to action on this.

We have visited this resort four times and were surprised to read so many negative reviews. Our experience this trip Feb. 5-16, 2023 was wonderful and we will absolutely be coming back. The things we liked: the grounds and buildings are beautiful and clean and well kept; the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly all of the time; we could always find a chair at one of the pools and the pool system is very nice with several adult-only sections. There is a nice variety of restaurants with very different menus and at least one of these restaurants are open every night. The Agave Mexican restaurant was by far our favourite in a building with no walls built right over the ocean, both the menu and the atmosphere are fantastic. We were able to make a weeks worth of reservations at a time so did not need to line up every day to make a reservation. We ate at the buffet restaurant every day for breakfast and lunch and twice for dinner and there was always a good variety of different foods that were hot and fresh. Our room was large, with a sunken living area and a bathroom bigger than our sleeping area, and a wonderful view from our balcony. The mattresses were new and the bedding was clean and high quality. Everything was always very clean. Just a note, we always upgrade to The Club and have never been disappointed. The WIFI in our room and in the lobby was excellent and I was able to have several hour-long Zoom meetings with no problem. My husband used the gym and it had lots of good, working machines and equipment. And going to the beautiful lobby bar for a cocktail before dinner and listening to the live piano music is a must.
The things that could be improved: WIFI at the pools and restaurants would be nice. The new QR code system for hotel information and for menus at the restaurants was hard to navigate, but all the restaurants had hard copy menus. Using the laundry service was so difficult in the end we did not use it. The resort is now older and some of the furnishings and fixtures are showing their age, The food in our Club Room was disappointing compared to previous years. The beach area is disappointing, very small and closed in but this was no problem for us as we took a cab to the Oasis Beach Club located on the most beautiful beach in the area, and spent the afternoon having drinks and lunch on the beach. The Manzanillo area is safe and friendly with a large Expat community so fun to explore. Overall a great vacation and We will be Back.

We stay for 2 nights, 3 Junior Suites with sea views and a Master Suite Premium Level with Sea Front View and Private Swimming Pool (party of 13). The rooms were great, clean, mini bar stocked and awesome views.

Check was easy, however we were not provided anything with information about the resort or what is included with the Master Suite Premium Level with Sea Front View and Private Swimming Pool. Information regarding food and drinks would be highly appreciated.

We ate at the buffet multiple times, food at the beach side hut, grill buffet for breakfast and unaware of the ability to make reservations at two of restaurants.

Hilda Hernández was an amazing waitress! If you have the ability to ask for her please do. She made our dining experiences special. Like I mentioned party of 13 and not once did we have a moment the we had to wait for drinks food nothing. Hilda is wonderful and 5 stars for her!

We did encounter an issue with the buffet menu one night and half of our party was unable to dine due to food allergies. The buffet changes theme of menus and there was no means of notification and also unaware of reservations. When we brought this to the attention to the Front Desk, I was informed I should have notified them of the food allergies and the Captain might be able to offer options. I spoke with the Manager Christian Diaz about options at the restaurants and finally gave the option for the Japanese restaurant and would make an exception for the men in our group to wear shorts. When we arrived, we we informed that Christian made the exception for the reservation but things have changed and now shorts are allowed. I asked to speak with Christian again, at which point was informed he is currently unable to come to the restaurant however I can go to him. The interaction when there was an issue was mishandled greatly by the front staff and management.

The mini bars were not stocked any days and was informed by the Front Desk they would look into it and never heard back or stocked.

One of our family members cut his legs and feet in the lagoon. He stepped and fell on coral in the lagoon. We the hotel staff provided first aid and great. We we're informed the lagoon had coral and was cut down. There was no signs advising to use caution or to wear water shoes.

If you do not encounter any issues that need to be addressed, you will have an amazing time. Aside from the issues we encountered my family enjoyed our time.

Recently spent 10 days in the glorious Manzanillo sunshine at Karmina Palace. The resort is in very good condition with huge rooms and balconies. Anyone who frequents Mexico knows that the Caribbean side has the better beaches and waters but the Pacific side doesn’t get the rainy days this time of year so it’s a trade-off.
Food quality and presentation is exactly what one would expect at a quality four star with plenty of good options.
The poolside service from Daniel was truly a highlight with his tireless effort and 10/10 customer attention. The tile in the pools is getting tired and needs attention and I’d stay away from Pedro in the Mexican restaurant as bad service can spoil a meal. Overall, definitely will return as I’m confident that Barcelo and the excellent Karmina staff will continue to work to keep the resort top quality and the guests happy!

this hotel is horrible they truly do not deserve 4 diamonds, they did not allow early check in, the mini bar room was not stocked up, the lady’s at the front desk like Vanessa Flórez and Ysvel something are extremely rude & not helpful at all did not let us know where to find out hours of place, locations restaurants, they did not have any amenities in the room as lotion, qtips, etc. when I did ask for them, they brought them in a zip log bag and I took the box out and the QTIPS WHERE USED! Their is yellow all over them. This place is disgusting and refuse to take care of you how a 4 diamond should.
The food is horrible has no flavor, the all inclusive only last part of the day because at night you can’t have room service! and it was never stated on their website!
I’m honestly just being honest about all of this so you guys don’t make the same mistake we did!

Dear TFG98, Although we are quite surprised and dismayed by the content of your review regarding your holiday at our Barceló Karmina, please rest assured that your comments have been taken onboard and revised by the entire Management team, however we would like to take this opportunity to clarify certain aspects of your review as a simple matter of exactness of the information reported. Are check-in is at 3 p.m. and at that time you are given the room keys, but in case you arrive earlier by 12 p.m. you can have access to the main areas like pool, beach, bar and snack. At this moment all amenities have been removed from the room due to the protocols we have. We also regret that our food couldn´t meet your expectations, mainly because the quality and the diversity of our culinary offer counts to our strengths. We take your comments regarding our cuisine very seriously, because we wish that our gastronomy remains a very special treat for our guests. Please be assured that your comments will be taken into serious consideration and that they will help us to improve our services. The hotel was beautiful however the service not good. 1. Checkin took about two hours 3. We had to move rooms three times, we had been quoted and charged different prices, after speaking with manager all he could do was extend our check-out time which didn’t help us since our flight was leaving in the morning. 4. Only two restaurants to choose from plus waiting in line 5. They were short staffed in serving drinks by the pools so that was a rare option 6. Waiters would often forget to bring you your drink during meals 7. We expected to have some kind of nice event for Mother’s Day however a flower was what was given and the movie Frozen was shown for the night event. 8. The resort did not offer the COVID test so we had to go to the airport to take it. My family and I travel a couple times a year, this was our first time staying at a Barcelo and it does not compare to other resorts we’ve stayed at, we will not be staying or recommending this resort to others in the future.

In regards of the lineas of our restaurants, this is due to the procedures we have implemented, like checking our guest temperature, giving antibacterial gel and shoe disinfection. The hotel does offer a special price for the COVID tests which will be covered by the guests. The appointment is made through our reception teams, 24 hours prior to the test and the day of your appointment the laboratory in charge will come directly to the hotel. Hi there! I'm not sure about the premium room, I only stayed in the 1 bedroom and that room was pretty big in space. But I'm sure they have a room like what you need.
