I would go back. I had considered staying in the touristic heart of Barcelona, as we were there on vacation, but ultimately we found this location ideal. The airport was quick and easy by taxi (15 minutes, 27 Euro) because the hotel is on the western (airport side) of the center of town. The Maria Cristina transit hub, just a few doors away, meant that the city was our oyster. The very handy green line runs right through there, and Barcelona's Metro system is second to none. The Caixa Bank and Corte Ingles department store were next door (with a full supermarket at the lower level of Corte Ingles) -- also very handy. The neighborhood was upscale, reasonably busy by day and reasonably quiet at night. It felt safe.
The hotel itself was clean and attractive. The room had everything we needed, nothing we didn't; it's a well appointed, comfortable, reasonably compact room in a hotel that's principally meant for business travelers.
Hilton Diamond members do not pay extra for breakfast or lounge access. We were very happy with both. Staff was friendly and accommodating, and very responsible and professional when alerted to a food allergy. The hotel graciously offers Diamonds the option of breakfast in the executive lounge or the dining room. We took the latter and enjoyed an extensive selection that could not be replicated in a lounge.
IMHO, the lounge is fine if it's free, maybe a disappointment if you're paying extra. I think they are running it by the book, but not going beyond. It was open all day, with coffee/cappucino, tea, and basic soft drinks available, along with very minimal snacks (maybe apples and crackers or nuts). They offered sandwiches and some hot snacks at happy hour (18:00 to 20:00) with wines and beer. The lounge has two sections: one with restaurant-type tables and chairs, and one with sofas. They really kept it clean, with people busily bussing tables and wiping them down -- something that many lounges overlook. The lounge was full and people were congenial. I have absolutely seen more extensive food and drink offered throughout the day in executive lounges at other properties, and if one is paying extra with that expectation in mind, it could be disappointing. But in fairness, a "lounge" is a place to sit outside of your room without being in the public lobby or restaurant. They offered that, along with tables to possibly look over documents with someone else or do some work on a laptop, televisions set to different channels, and light refreshments. I would not pay extra for it, but when it is part of the package, I have no complaints.
