I don't give out bad reviews lightly, but on this occasion I believe a two-star review is merited. I visited this hotel on my annual solo vacation, and I stayed for one night before heading to another Hilton property in the suburb of Barcelona.
As a diamond member, I was upgraded to their sky view room, but at check in I was downgraded to their most basic room. I didn't think much and headed into that basic room. However, the room was in a shockingly tired state. I returned to the reception and told them that it is not acceptable. They quickly rectified the situation, which is a redeeming quality of this hotel. The newly assigned room had a great view, but still very tired, with a TV that looks like a product of the late 2000s.
The Executive lounge was great, and it's the only thing between this hotel and a one star review.
Breakfast was subpar compared to other Hilton properties with the same level of service in Spain. There's no egg stand, and the English breakfast was mediocre at best. More disappointingly, I heard the breakfast reception telling an old Japanese lady that she cannot of her assistance as there are "three other colleagues inside" the buffet room and that she was busy. There was no one queuing at the time, and the said three colleagues were chatting casually at the time.
All in all, not a great experience. Frankly, given the price, not even nearly as good as the Hampton Inn two miles away. If this hotel does not start thinking about some renovation works and treating their guests with courtesy, I can hardly imagine it stay in business for the next decade.
