The Mercure Nice Centre Notre Dame is celebrated for its stylish and contemporary vibe, boasting a modern atmosphere and eco-friendly features like a water machine. While the rooftop bar and pool are standouts amongst the hotel's amenities, there is feedback suggesting room for improvement in service speed and breakfast variety. Its central location garners high praise, with easy access to transportation and local attractions. Although the rooms are generally clean and well-appointed, a few guests have remarked on their compact size and occasional noise issues. The hotel's cleanliness and service are well-regarded, though some guests have encountered service inconsistencies at the bar. Overall, travelers find the hotel to be a good value, despite some dining options being considered pricey.

Had a really nice and relaxing 5 night break here early August 2020. The rooms were a good temperature and good size, great rooftop bar and lovely pool area. However the staff aren’t very friendly and there weren’t enough sun beds by the roof top pool. We had to be by the pool latest 9.30am to get a bed or else we could not sunbathe. There were about 30 sun loungers and a few hundred rooms to give some context. The problem with this is that in order to sunbathe you have to either pay €50 for a sun lounger for 2 on the beach or sunbathe on pebbles as it’s a stone beach. There is a treadmill up by the pool undercover which could easily be removed to create more sun-bed space and this is what I recommend they do.
Lastly the towels in the room were like paper and very small. Change those 2 things and it would have been a great stay for price and location.

We booked a weeks break with an Easyjet Holiday in March 2023. We chose this hotel for its central location and proximity to the tram (transfer from the airport) and main station for some trips out of Nice. The holiday was very reasonably priced but don’t forget the hotel will charge you additional local taxes when you check out which for our week amounted to around another £40.

The staff were all friendly and helpful but we have been to this part of France many times before so we didn’t need a lot of help to get around.

We were allocated a room at the back of the hotel facing into the central courtyard which meant it was fairly quiet although we did hear some noise from the lift which was next to our room. There was also the usual noise from our neighbours who came to bed late.

The room was a good size for a city hotel and had obviously been refurbished fairly recently but it could not be described as luxurious. The standard of the refurbishment left a lot to be desired too. All our doors had not been painted and had numerous chips and damp patches and bare wood on the edges. The door into the room from the corridor was impossible to close quietly and had to be slammed shut. The toilet seat was missing its little rubber feet. The aircon was ancient and had obviously not been upgraded. The controller was probably from the 60s and the vent showed many years of dust and fluff. It just about managed to cool our room after the March sun had warmed it up through the day but I am not sure it would cope in the height of summer? There was always lots of hot water on the plus side however. The wifi in the room was good and we had no problems.

The towels were paper thin and had not been upgraded, the tea and coffee station had thin poor quality paper cups which were not ideal for hot drinks (we bought 2 mugs from Monoprix which is nearby). Paper cups are also supplied in the bathroom. The metal frame of the bed creaked mainly when you sat on the edge of the bed.

There were 2 floors in the block across the courtyard from us which looked to be under refurbishment during our stay. This generated some noise during the day and there was a fleet of around 4 vans parked outside virtually all the time.

The roof top pool was empty and covered and we only saw 1 hot tub. We tried the rooftop bar once but didn’t like it much so didn’t return. I don’t think the rooftop area has been refurbished as yet.

We enjoyed our week in Nice and for the price we paid the hotel was reasonable in spite of the issues. For the price shown on the Accor web site if you book direct I would expect something a bit better

Stayed here with my two adult children for a short break in September. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Location is excellent - 5 minutes walk from tram stop so very easy to get to and from the airport (1.5 euros each, much cheaper than a taxi) Rooms are comfortable plenty of room for three adults sharing, bathrooms spotless and very new looking. Breakfast was ok - probably not the best thing about this hotel hence why I have given 4 not 5/5. Not the best selection for a 4 star hotel but it was still ok. The rooftop pool area was beautiful- a massive plus if you are visiting when the weather is still hot and sunny. Sky bar was also lovely. Every member of staff that I dealt with was excellent and I felt they went the extra mile to help us enjoy our stay. We arrived and they had decorated our room with happy birthday balloons, sweets and cakes which was lovely. On our last day we had a late flight back from Nice airport and we were allowed to keep our room until 2pm instead of 12 which was very much appreciated. I would definitely stay in this hotel again. Good value, good facilities and fantastic customer service! I had never visited Nice and the Côte d’Azur before and would certainly love to come back!

We stayed for 5 nights in August and had a good stay overall. One issue with the bar upstairs described below.
We asked upon check-in if possible to have twin beds and staff were very helpful about this. Unfortunately the change was missed the next day despite us reminding Reception twice. We also ran out of shower gel and this was rectified too, but again after two follow up reminders and a call. These were minor niggles, the rest of our stay was pleasant, housekeeping were good and we enjoyed our holiday.
We used the pool, which had fluffy, clean towels and loungers and initially we also enjoyed the bar (despite it being quite pricey as others have mentioned).
Whilst waiting to order at the bar (I was the only person waiting), a male guest arrived well after me and ordered his drink. Upon my obvious surprise at this, he said he thought I was being served. I said actually I'm waiting to be served. He left and I ordered a beer, the bartender acknowledged my request and seemed to be getting this for me.
The man returned, ordered a drink and the bartender who was serving me, served him immediately.
The female bartender observed all of this, mouthed 'sorry' to me and asked me what drink I wanted. I was totally confounded and said to the bartender, '...you were serving me? '
The bartender replied, 'i have no words' and then turned away.
The female bartender then asked me what I wanted and I reordered. I estimate I had been there 10 minutes by this point. (there were 3 members of staff behind the bar too!)
When I paid later on, the female bartender again apologised.
I have no idea why I received such poor service. I waited patiently, I had good eye contact and did not make a fuss when the man ordered over me either time.
Whilst I appreciated the female bartender acknowledging the issue and apologising, it was absolutely not her place to apologise. We didn't go back to the bar and the incident left me feeling very uncomfortable.

Shame as the staff on other days were lovely.

I must also acknowledge that the guy who ordered over me was clearly not someone who felt he needed to wait in line for anything. He happily walked away with his beer, knowing very well I had been ignored and was still waiting to be served.

Situated just off the bustling Avenue Jean Médecin and merely steps away from the Jean Médecin tram stop, this hotel offers convenient airport access via tram for under 1.70 euros. Its prime location places it in the heart of the city, adjacent to the luminous Notre Dame Basilica and surrounded by a vibrant mix of shops, bars, and restaurants catering to diverse preferences. The famed Promenade des Anglais is within a pleasant 25-minute walk or a shorter tram ride away.

Externally, the hotel presents a modest facade; however, stepping into the lobby reveals a breathtaking display of contemporary design, adorned with an eclectic collection of art and furnishings. The staff's professional and warm welcome immediately signifies the quality of service to be expected throughout your stay. The hotel hides a serene garden courtyard on the first floor, offering a peaceful retreat. The rooftop boasts a café bar that remains open throughout the day and livens up by night, providing a panoramic view of Nice along with a tempting swimming pool.

My accommodation was an upgraded privilege room with a terrace that offered stunning views of the Notre Dame Basilica. The room's modern amenities and design left a lasting impression. It featured a large, comfortable bed with a selection of pillows, versatile lighting, C-port charging points, a work desk, and ample wardrobe space. Additional luxuries included a minibar with free soft drinks and a Nespresso machine. The spacious balcony came equipped with sun loungers and a seating area, overlooking the city rooftops and the Basilica. The room was impeccably clean, with daily housekeeping, and boasted fast, reliable WiFi at 60 Mbps. The bathroom was notably luxurious, featuring a large walk-in shower with a substantial rain shower head.

In conclusion, this hotel stands out for its exceptional service and special touches that enhance the overall experience, making any stay feel extraordinarily special.

We were staying in this hotel for 6 nights. We booked the privilege room with terrace and the view on Notre Dame and we were quite disappointed by the level of noise coming from the street from early morning hours, loud birds and the noise from hotel’s bar until late night hours. The hotel has plenty of rooms of this type and I wonder how can this hotel accommodate its platinum club member in one of 3 rooms located directly under the bar, opposite the lifts. This is not a good sign for high quality service and hotel’s management.

On the contrary, our friend who had the room fronting the garden on a lower floor had much better sleeping comfort.

The rooms have been recently renovated and equipped with comfortable beds. The terrace was large and it is certainly a bonus when staying in this hotel during summer months. Breakfasts were great with wide variety of choices and the delicious coffee.

The cleaning service was poor. The new shampoo bottles or coffee capsules were not always delivered. Extra requests like few additional coffee milks were not taken on board. The ashtray on terrace was not emptied for 3 days. You realize that the soft drinks in the minibar are free only if you explicitly ask.

To summarize, “the hardware” is there, “the software” not yet. This is typical mass tourism hotel servicing the tour groups staying for max. 2-3 days or flight crews, where the individual client treatment is not applied.

We have just returned from Nice. The hotel is in a great location about 15-20min taxi ride from the airport. Easy to get around, with only about a 15 min walk to to Sea/Restaurants and shops are on your doorstep. There is also a tram if you don’t want to walk.

The hotel was good, clean and the staff were fantastic, they were all so friendly. Breakfast was good and the rooftop bar is nice in the evenings for pre-dinner drinks and to watch the sun go down.

I would like to say how impressed we were with one particular staff member, Ersin Akar. He was there when we checked in. He arranged a lovely room for us as there was a discrepancy with our booking. It had great city views. Every time Ersin saw us he would check we were ok and nothing was too much trouble. It was my birthday during our stay and as a surprise he had arranged for our room to be specially decorated with swans, hearts and balloons. Thank you Ersin, we really appreciate your thoughtfulness and kindness, I’m sure we will return. We have been fortunate enough to visit a few cities in Europe and we are great believer’s in the little things. Ersin got it so right, we wish there were more Ersin’s in this world! He is a real asset to the hotel and an absolute gentleman. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Stayed at this hotel which is in the city centre just off the Jean Medicine shopping street. Great location for shopping and not far from the old Town of Nice easily accessible by the frequent trams.
The hotel itself is quite pleasant and the staff are friendly. We had booked a special offer room which was a decent size but the large window couldn’t be opened and it felt confined. Bathroom was quite small and the bath was very slippy and there is no bath mats provided. The bath does not have an anti slip bottom and I slipped while standing up and injured my arm. I did report this to a member of staff and asked for a non slip mat but was told that they didn’t provide them. With this in mind we decided to upgrade to a better room with a walk in shower. This room was much better with a large terrace with a table and two chairs however only one lounger, I suppose you’re meant to take turns. The room also has a coffee machine but you have to ask for coffee at reception. And we were supplied one small bottle of water per day. There is also a small fridge in the room.
The Sky Lounge is very nice however we found it to be a little soulless. Breakfast is typically French jams cheeses etc. and came with the room.
This hotel is very Covid 19 aware and we did feel very safe, masks to be worn in all public spaces in the hotel.
All in all an ok hotel although the response to my injury was I think inappropriate.

Perfectly located for time spent in the cote d'azur. An easy tram ride from the airport and turn right out of the hotel, right again and the railway station is a 5 min walk for places of interest in the area. Warning-there are usually queues for the train ticket machines which are not initially easy to navigate. Also pick pockets are at the station and on the platforms so take care.
The rooms are air conditioned, clean and comfortable and what a treat to have fresh bedding and towels (albeit rather thin) every day. The mini fridge is very useful. The roof top bar is great for the views. There is a selection of snacks and drinks. The pool is an adequate size but too cold for us in the evening. Pool towels are available.
Breakfast is freshly prepared and buffet style with a large selection.
Staff are helpful and obliging.
Be aware that when you offer a credit card at the start of your stay, 50 euros a day are registered for spending at the hotel. This wasn't explained to us. Obviously refunds are given if this amount isn't used.
We would recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located in a rather perfect location, a quick stroll away from shops, restaurants, and local transport facilities (eg trams). Promenade des Anglais is rather close too - 20/25 mins max on foot.
On top of that, and no less importantly, the staff is super helpful, and I can’t really fault them on anything related to the rooms cleanliness and comfort. Highly recommended!
