The Wellington Hotel stands out for its stellar location across from Waterloo Station, drawing many travelers who also enjoy its range of room sizes and modern bathrooms. While some guests mention railway noise and steep stairs, the overall value, including meal inclusivity, is highly regarded, despite occasional unexpected charges. The staff's friendliness shines, although service can vary. Amenities like the complimentary minibar and breakfast impress, even with minor issues like small bathrooms. The hotel's cleanliness and vibrant pub atmosphere contribute to its appeal, making it a popular choice for both lodging and entertainment.

We needed a hotel close to the station and this one showed up. Was pleasantly surprised by the room. We had the top floor room. It was so spacious, our room had a huge bed and a sofa too. The bathroom was compact but not claustrophobic with a really powerful shower, huge soft bath sheets as well. The room was well heated and considering we were next to the station we hardly heard anything as it had secondary glazing and the blackout blinds left the room pitch black. The bed had ample pillows plus spares and was super comfortable Plus little chocolates on the pillows.
Would highly recommend for a 1-3 night stay

I stayed here for one night in a twin room with a mate who I regularly meet with in London for drinks.
We popped in at 11.15am to see if we could check-in early and get rid of our bags before heading in to town for copious amounts of alcohol. We were refused early check-in as the room was still being turned over. The member of staff that dealt us said she could speak to the manager and see what she could do. She said she could check us in, but we couldn’t go to our room yet. She gave us the key for later and she took our bags to the room herself, so we could avoid checking in later on, when we would be worse for wear. Excellent service, which wasn’t lost on us, especially after climbing the stairs later to Room 19 which was 3 floors up. She did well to carry two bags up there for us by herself.
Anyway, seeing we were already in a pub, we sampled the drinks and enjoyed a nice pint each, and at a reasonable price for central London.
When we got back later, the twin room was small, but well set out and clean. Two comfy single beds, and a nice ensuite shower room. All tasteful decorated.
My only issue with the room, was the heat! It was too hot and only one window opened, which increased the noise of the hustle and bustle of London outside. They did supply earplugs at the side of each bed, which was a good move.
A suggestion would be to they place a fan in each room to help cool you down, as there is no air conditioning.
In the morning, a very good breakfast menu was offered and my plate was well presented, lots of it, and tasty. You could choose more than one option and it was included in the price of the room.
Now for the game changer. Along with the compliment tea, coffee, still and sparkling water, there was a partially stocked mini bar fridge with around 8/9 soft and alcoholic drinks in there and were all complimentary too. I’ve stayed in a load of hotels in London and around the world and this is the first time (outside of an ‘all inclusive’) that I’ve come across this service. It’s a small thing but was so welcomed when we got back in the evening after the pubs had closed.
I will definitely be staying here again in the future when I have regular catch ups with my old RAF mates.
My friend and I are both catering managers and we were both very impressed with the service you provided.
Thanks to you and your team

Thank you for your review. I am flattered that we have impressed you both and would love to welcome you back. My apologies for the heat of the room; 19 is one of the hottest rooms, as the hot water pipes run right past it. May I suggest requesting room 22 for your next stay? The little details make all the difference, and I'm happy that you made the most of them.

I booked a room here with my best friend for Monday 19th, leaving Tuesday 20th. We booked back in April so our room rate was more than reasonable. Check in was straight forward, and we had a lovely young gent give us the instructions for our room. We were in room 19, which was quite a hike for us (especially as we both suffer from disabilities) but again, we got such a reasonable price we weren't too bothered. We found our room was incredibly clean, and very prettily decorated. The only downside to the room was the fact that only one of the windows open... But didn't even open very far. So, in 26-28 degree heat this was difficult. We queried the fridge in the room and was informed that all the drinks (two Japanese beers, two ales, two Pepsis, two waters and two non alcoholic presses) were free... Bonus! We thoroughly enjoyed the drinks over dinner that we bought. The bathroom was also very clean, and we loved the difference/choice in which shower head we could use, which benefited us because I am taller and my friend is shorter. Breakfast was also included in our price, which was also excellent. The staff were very accommodating of my coeliac disease and offered a number of gluten free options. The chefs Scrambled eggs were excellent and we also enjoyed the drinks bar. My friend was particularly a fan of this as she loves having juice in the morning (routine based, as we are both also autistic) and was concerned she would miss this. To find we could have as much as we liked from the menu and drinks bar really boosted our morning. We would like to visit again, but perhaps in a colder month so we aren't too hot in the room.

Hi Hollie, Thank you for leaving us a review. The stairs can be a pain and I apologise that we don't have any first floor twin rooms. Next time you come, our team would be more than happy to help you with your luggage, just ask - we're a friendly bunch. I'm sorry that the room was hot - room 19 is one of the warmer rooms as the hot water pipes run past the room. You might like to request room 22 for your next stay - it's on the same floor, just a couple of doors down. I'm glad that we made it possible for you to carry out your daily routine, with our great selection at breakfast, and that you enjoyed everything else about your stay. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

The hotel is located right opposite Waterloo station so location wise it’s great. I knew when booking it was close to the station and could be noisy and hoped to get one of the quieter rooms. Seems they are the other side to where we were. One side has rooms 1-12 and the other 13-27 which I believe is the quieter side. When the trains went past it wasn’t just the noise but the vibration too. The track was right next to one side of the hotel which we were in. I saw on other reviews since coming home that earplugs were provided in rooms but there was none provided to us. I wear them anyway so had a pair but hubby had to buy some but they didn’t stop the vibration wake ups. We had a double room which was ok but seemed really small compared to the pics on the website. You could barely walk around the bed which was also pretty hard and uncomfortable to what I’m used to. Probably the hardest hotel bed I’ve experienced. The rooms have a little fridge which contained a bottle of ale, two cans of beer (I think) and 2 cans of Pepsi with 3 small chocolates. The room has a kettle and tea/coffee etc, hairdryer and the bathroom is equipped with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash and body lotion aswell as shower caps and vanity pack. The rooms are serviced daily although we opted for every other as we weren’t in the room much. There is no lift which we were also aware of and were on the second floor which was hard enough carrying cases as the stairs were windy ones. There was also a fan in the room and a radiator. The breakfast was served daily in the pub downstairs between 8-10am and had some pastries, fruit, cereals, tea, coffee and juices and the full English is pretty good 😊 there are other options on the menu and vegetarian options too. It’s a lovely old building and nice pub and I would stay again if I could get a room on the quieter side and would probably opt for a larger room. The pics on the website of the double room looked much bigger so either clever photography or there are bigger double rooms. There are luxury doubles I believe so would probably book that. Was a lovely break away just a tad squashed in and noisier than we expected. To anyone going here, take earplugs, ask for a lower room if you have mobility issues. The check in area is also a tiny part of the end of the bar In the pub downstairs and you do have a private entrance once you are checked in

We have just spent a couple of nights here to visit the South Bank and had a marvellous stay . Location could not be better.
This is a pub/hotel and so the Reception to check in is at the bar , so when we arrived to see a bustling crowd we initially thought, oh heck , we will be ages . However , as we stood by reception we were acknowledged straight away and a staff member checked us in as soon as possible .
The person who gave us our room was really friendly , choosing a room based on requests I made .
Our room was a fair size for central London , with a comfy bed and pillows ( I am fussy !) and a good bathroom with a super shower . Fresh fluffy large towels were provided . Nice soaps and shower gel / shampoo and conditioner.
There was a small fridge with some complementary drinks which was a lovely surprise. Lots of coffee abs tea and biscuits. Welcome after a long day ..
Breakfast was second to none !! Great selection of drinks , pastries , cereals and an extensive cooked breakfast menu . All cooked to perfection with good size portions . Coffee was particularly nice .
In the evening the bar was buzzing and we enjoyed a few reasonably priced drinks, not ‘London’ prices at all ! The bar staff were as pleasant as the afternoon staff .
Our room was above the bar and so until the music stopped it was rather noisy and the windows didn’t close fully so ambient street noise wasn’t blocked . Earplugs were provided though , and in fact , we both slept soundly after the bar quietened . As breakfast was served until 10 , we had plenty of rest so not a problem. Room cleaned daily , which was fab.
In summary , we really enjoyed our stay , so pleased with how friendly and welcoming the staff were . If visiting London again , we would definitely choose The Wellington .

Me and one of brother's arrived Sunday and stayed til Tuesday. We arrived early and well before check In time, one of the friendly staff Keighley let us put or cases in a secure cupboard and we went for a bit of sightseeing. Was only a few minutes walk to the Thames on this side was the London Eye first and over that bridge was the houses of parliament and big Ben so we was pretty close. I'd point out also that Waterloo Station tube is just over the road from the hotel. It's a pub hotel so you can chill with a few drinks at the end of your sightseeing, we are from South Yorkshire and as its London we expected prices of alcohol to be pricey so that wasn't a shock. Along the street the hotel is based are numerous bus stops, sainsburys, tesco and other pubs and some nice restaurants, I'd Defo recommend the tasty bro's pizza restaurant which is just a 2 min walk away on same side of road. The hotel itself, first of a the staff we're so nice and cheerful and helpful if we had any questions. The room we had was just right for us. It had fridge, your usual brewing facilities, kettle, coffee/tea bags etc. Hairdryer. Shower and shower/wash jels etc. As it was one of the hottest few days we stayed, it obviously got a little stuffy in the room but one window did open and as we we're out most of day and night that was spot on. The breakfast: we we're offered pastries, hot/cold drinks and choices of full English or other choices which we didn't need because we went for the full English which was fantastic and really tasty and big, e.g sausage, double fried egg, bacon, tomatoe, beans in a small pot, toast, butter, honey and jam, Black pudding, hash brown, large mushroom, it was gorgeous. If I was to visit london again I'd Defo return here. Prepare to expect a little noise, as the bus's are always stopping outside and there's a nearby tube that's noisy. Overall I'd definitely recommend this hotel as we had a fab stay and felt very welcome and looked after.

Absolutely loved this place. We enjoy the hustle and bustle of London and The Wellington is a part of that. We walked through a nice busy pub to check in at the hotel reception and were greeted by a lovely, pleasant lady who dealt with us swiftly and efficiently. Up to our room we went. The room itself was beautiful, the furniture and fittings all nicely done, with a really comfortable bed. All nice toiletries and thick soft towels in the bathroom. When we returned from our wander around London, we had a couple of drinks in the bar, again served by great members of staff. Breakfast is not to be missed, and you can tell when a hotel doesn’t scrimp on their ingredients, the English breakfast was top notch, and the salmon delicious.
The location is perfect for what we come to London for, really central and easy access to the tube.
Our room was right next to the train track, but we knew before we booked about the location and possible noise, so it didn’t really bother us.
We will definitely stay here again, but we will see if there’s a room just a little further away from the tracks. :)
I would like to thank every member of staff who we came in contact with, for making our stay a memorable one.

I stayed at this hotel with my 13 year old daughter at the weekend while we went to the platinum party at the palace for the Queen's jubilee. The hotel is ideally situated opposite Waterloo station which made it very easy to travel to Buckingham Palace and Euston station on our way home.

The room was well decorated, clean and very comfortable. It had coffee making facilities, a hair dryer and in the bathroom provided you with big pots of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash and moisturiser (so you don't really need to pack a lot to take with you).

We met the manager on our return from the palace in the evening and he was a very nice man who took the time to chat with us about our evening.

In the morning, we went for breakfast and were served some delicious hot food, as well as there being other items like pastries, fruit, coffee etc available to help yourself to.

I would definitely stay here again I'm the future and hope to return on our next trip to London. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Booked for a Saturday night and got a room for 85GPB with a private bathroom and breakfast included for two people which was sensational value for Central London.
Rooms are not spacious, but comfortable and had all the amenities we needed and included a mini fridge with some complimentary drinks.
We were out of the room all day but came back to the pub late evening for a night cap.
Very lively and felt like a local pub. Once we went up, we couldn't hear any noise from the pub, just from the street outside as we had the window open - but slept soundly in a comfortable bed.

Good choice of breakfast, cold choices available on the counter and hot choices from the menu. Staff are friendly and efficient but not obsequious. Got good advice from them on options if we chose to stay again, and they gave our umbrella back as we left it in the bar area.

Overall, the room is adequate, clean and excellently located opposite Waterloo Station from where you go anywhere in London and the South.

We have booked again looking forward to our next stay .
