Nestled along a pristine beachfront, The Lodge at Jaguar Reef garners commendation for its immaculate rooms and lush grounds. The wealth of amenities, including well-equipped kitchens and exclusive plunge pools, is a highlight for many guests, although some find the services to be overpriced. While the hotel's location is consistently lauded for its stunning beach access, the luxurious atmosphere adds to the allure. The staff's attentive and professional service further enhances guest experiences, despite isolated reports of room noise and maintenance issues.

The Lodge at Jaguar Reef was our favorite accommodation during our 8 day trip to Belize (out of 6 different hotels/"resorts.") I thought for sure we were at the wrong place - it looked way too nice for $150/night (price for stay in early March booked through hotels.com). Looks like a $300+/night property. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Our experience was excellent from the second we arrived (an hour early) til our departure. The room was the most comfortable and nicely decorated of any place we stayed. The shower was spacious and had great water pressure and hot water (the whole time!) - which we didn't find at any other stay. The grounds are meticulously kept and there's ample free activities from paddleboarding to floats right off the beach. They have an adult pool and separate kids friendly pool. It was very windy with rough seas when we visited but that didn't stop us from taking in the beautiful views. Lunch onsite was delish (I ordered the eggplant pasta dish) and drinks were also the best of our entire trip. We loved our stay and would definitely choose The Lodge again if we ever make our way back to Belize.

My Wife and I stayed for two nights as part of our Honeymoon. We did a few nights in several different parts of beautiful Belize.

We’re fortunate to have been to a lot of different countries and stayed in many different accommodations around the world, but this place is a game changer.

First impressions when walking in to reception were ‘Wow!’ but we’d seen nothing yet! We were given a warm welcome by Denise who was incredibly friendly and professional, she even got us a drink from the lobby bar whilst sorting our booking!

We were then shown to our room - Sandia. This room was beyond all expectations, neither my Wife and I knew what was to come! The room was huge and the decor absolutely stunning! There was a large sunken bath and the shower room was huge, as was the bed. The standard of the room was Absolutely mind blowing!

We had an evening meal both nights, the food was out of this world, as was breakfast each morning. The staff are a huge credit to this accommodation, every single member of staff we met were SO friendly & were happy to chat - it’s things like this that we notice. At each meal, Shakira (who showed us to our room) would come to us and ask how we are and make conversation, such a lovely girl.

We absolutely LOVED the Dock Bar - a stunning bar at the end of a short pier/boardwalk. Their Strawberry Daiquiris were incredible! The setting of this whole accommodation was just in a league of its own. The attention to detail was unbelievable, on our last morning we met a guy called Larry who was collecting leaves and raking the sand to keep it looking pristine, he is also a credit to this accommodation, what a friendly guy!

If you are reading my review & wanting to stay in Hopkins, look no further. This place is in a league of its own, we will return!

Thank you to every single member of staff who made dreams come true for us!

Chris & Liz from England.

When we arrived we received a non alcoholic “greeting” beverage to cleanse the pallet and let us know we were welcome. We were explained to the finer points of all the amenities and where the happy hours were to be. We were also told about the tour operation. In the end we ate at the great restaurant beside our property and we drank little more than the bottle of top shelf tequila we were given to a returning American couple on the short hop from San Pedro to Belize City.

We stayed in 2 apartments (we knew in advance we’d have to move) on the site over our 4 days, including Christmas. Both were very well presented and comfortable, looking over one of the two pools, the beachfront and dock. The beachfront with the inclusive paddle boards and surf skis was clean and attractive. We were unlucky that north winds meant the sea, though warm, was murky for our trip. The resort restaurant ‘Paddles’ is very good, as is the Dock ceviche bar, and there is a choice of good restaurants locally to eat out. There are good activities organised by the helpful Lodge adventure team; if you visit Dec-May when there is little moon take in the bioluminescence boat trip - amazing. A 20min walk or 5 min hired golfcart ride into Hopkins is well worth it. As often in Belize the people make it, so thanks to Patrick and all on the Lodge team.

We stayed in a Deluxe suite with plunge pool, the room and bathroom were clean, modern and spacious, with a view of the beach. The staff was friendly and accommodating, however both the food and overall organization was sub par compared to the sister property Sleeping Giant. I would suggest booking tours independently through a local company, rather than through the resort. We did three activities, for all 3, we were given incorrect departure times by the activities director (for one we were told a later time than our guide, so he waited on us for 30min). The beach is raked beautifully each morning and there is a beautiful pier with lots of unique seating. I am giving this location a “very good” rating because I think they are doing their best, and it was a beautiful location, but it might be “average” to someone who frequents tropical resorts.

I emailed Jaguar Reef to confirm my booking and never heard back from them. When I got there they said: "right, so you're here for 5 days." Nope. I booked for 7. After they checked their records they asked me to produce my booking (which I had luckily printed out). This wasn't a relaxing way to start a vacation. Next they said that we would have to change rooms twice. I refused. In the end, they upgraded us and made us change rooms once (which kinda broke the vacation vibe). Initially they said that we had to be out of room A by 11am but weren't sure when room B would be ready..."could be sometime in the afternoon." Again, declined. Said we paid to have continuous access to a room and had booked an excursion at 12:30pm so needed room to change. They finally sorted it out. But when we changed rooms they removed us from their system so we then had trouble trying to put dinner on our room bill.
The shared parts of the facility are beautiful. Our upgraded room was lovely. The second room wasn't nearly as nice and it was LOUD due to the road and a wedding.
While the chef tries, I think he tries a little too hard. There also weren't prices on the vegetarian menu, which was frustrating. The food was expensive. Also, you had to book a table for dinner which killed some of the spontaneity of the vacation (most of the time we went elsewhere).
The staff were all very pleasant.
I think 4 nights would probably be the max I would stay here and I would count on eating other places. We also booked our excursions through local guides as they were far more flexible and cheaper.
If you pay for a very fancy room, you'll likely be happy.
***the pier and bar on the pier are great for adults but not at all toddler-friendly.
We wished the property had more bikes. We planned to use them one day and they were all out for the day.

Lovely huge rooms with a private plung pool which we used all day long, well appointed room and clean. Upright water dispenser right in your room is amazing. The resort is beautifully landscaped. Good location at the end of town, within walking distance of two great restaurants LA Trattoria and the #1 place Chef Robs. All rank 5 out of 5.

Now for the bad and why I give them only 4 out of 5. Not once in 3 nights did we have any sort of room clean, no new pool towels, just have to reuse the soaking humid dank ones you had yesterday. No new shower towels, or even a bed made. We had to beg for coffee, and that took 40 minutes to get.

The staff are terrible, honestly terrible. For more than $500 US a night, I expect to be respectfully treated and questions and inquires handled knowledgeablely. Inquired about taking a complimentary bike for a ride at 4:30 pm, took the desk clerk asking 2 different people and 20 min wasted just to make sure we were allowed to go with only 1.5 hrs until dark?! We wanted to ride up and down the road and were gone, maybe 15 minutes. Tried to get a tour for cockcomb jaguar preserve, tour desk couldn't give us a price or assurance trip would go or exactly how long it would be. You sit at breakfast table and staff just look at you and walk away, so you say hey?! Oh, you want something? Yeah, how about a menu, good lord. Asked the pool bar man for a hard seltzer in a glass of ice, same brand as the local beer, he pours me a beer over ice, never stopping to question is that was what I wanted?! English is the official language; communication is not a problem. In 3 days, we didn't come across a single team member worthy of more than a ranking or 1 or 1.5 out of 5, not one person! We constantly said, "Where do they find these people?"

For prospective this was just one of six properties we've stayed at this trip, all other hotel staff were helpful, knowledgeable and went out of their way to help in any way, and no one expects a tip, they are just nice hospitality professionals. Not the folks at Jaguar.

Our family with three kids (3,6,8) spent seven days at Jaguar Reef in late January. We all had a great time. The staff were very sincere and interested in customer service and proud of their work. Larry was amazing and is one of the hardest working people I have ever seen in the tourist industry. He got our kids coconuts, checked in with us continuously every day, and even gifted the kids some shells. We were sad when we had to leave and say goodbye. The pools, bars, and lodging were all pretty top notch. It is worth it to explore around Hopkins however as you will find good food at more reasonable rates. Their is rotating happy hours from 2-4 at the pool bar, 4-6 at the dining room bar, and 6-8 at the big dock Ceviche bar (the ceviche is great by the way!) with 1/2 price belikins and local rum. We did a few tours and loved the Monkey River tour where you get to visit a village by boat, eat some traditional foods and explore the river and forest with a local guide. Also got some time to walk around Placencia afterwards. Also did the Silk Caye snorkel. If you have snorkeled in other areas you will likely find the snorkeling average. However you also get to swim with and view a lot of reef sharks, angel rays, and some turtles which made it more worthwhile. All in all this place is pretty legit with helpful, friendly staff and other travelers who are pretty relaxed and chill. It was also a great place for kids

My wife and I went here on our honeymoon for 6 days. This place is absolutely amazing in so many ways. The food was always fresh and tasty. I can’t say enough about the Staff!! So many amazing people here. We did the all inclusive package, we ate 90% of our meals here. Stacey,Jason and Alex are amazing servers and remembered us and what we liked for every meal. Marvin at the big dock bar and Walter at the pool bar were awesome. We did a few excursions and were lucky enough to have Francisco lead us multiple times, this guys knows his stuff!!
Carlos and Noel were very helpful and friendly at the adventure desk. Gilbert the pool guy was on top of our private plunge pool making sure it was always clean. Patrick and Shakira were very helpful and friendly at guest services with anything we needed. If you need a laugh or just someone to talk too find “Captain” Larry, this guy is so funny and always wanting to help everybody. He went up a tree to get us coconuts and cut them so we could drink them and have drinks made from them.
Just outstanding service from so many people, we can’t wait to go visit them again.

My husband and I stayed at Jaguar Reef Lodge in April 2021 and Absolutely loved it! We booked a private villa plunge pool and honestly it’s the only room category I think you should book. Worth the extra money because they are right on Jaguar Reefs property with ocean views, large, completely updated and the plunge pool is incredible!
We ate at both the overwater Ceviche bar and at the restaurant. Wine is hard to come by for reasonable prices in Belize and we found a bottle of rose on their menu for 50bze which is roughly $25usd. They have mini fridges in the room as well and I highly recommend picking up wine from the duty free airport in Belize when you land.
The main reception/bar/resto is stunning both during the day and night and you can walk along the beach to Chef Robs for another delicious meal.
They’re also following COVID protocols and I felt very safe here!
My husband and I did see one of the beach front villas but compared to the plunge pool villas they’re older, dated and not nearly as nice. Do yourself a favour and spring for the upgrade!

We only ate breakfast at the resort each day, there is an option for that. There are so many restaurants around the resort and a short ways from the resort that we just ate out every evening. We did book a snorkeling/island hoping tour through the resort and it was great!
