City centre hotel

Reviewed Oct 28, 2021via mobile
Stayed at this hotel which is in the city centre just off the Jean Medicine shopping street. Great location for shopping and not far from the old Town of Nice easily accessible by the frequent trams.
The hotel itself is quite pleasant and the staff are friendly. We had booked a special offer room which was a decent size but the large window couldn’t be opened and it felt confined. Bathroom was quite small and the bath was very slippy and there is no bath mats provided. The bath does not have an anti slip bottom and I slipped while standing up and injured my arm. I did report this to a member of staff and asked for a non slip mat but was told that they didn’t provide them. With this in mind we decided to upgrade to a better room with a walk in shower. This room was much better with a large terrace with a table and two chairs however only one lounger, I suppose you’re meant to take turns. The room also has a coffee machine but you have to ask for coffee at reception. And we were supplied one small bottle of water per day. There is also a small fridge in the room.
The Sky Lounge is very nice however we found it to be a little soulless. Breakfast is typically French jams cheeses etc. and came with the room.
This hotel is very Covid 19 aware and we did feel very safe, masks to be worn in all public spaces in the hotel.
All in all an ok hotel although the response to my injury was I think inappropriate.

Stayed here for 3 nights in a standard room with sofa bed. Hotel is in an excellent location near the tram, train, shops and walkable to most attractions.

Room was modern and nicely decorated. Only complaint is that the air con wasn’t very effective.

Staff were friendly. Highly recommended.

Room tip: Room 402 had lovely views.

The hotel staff and catering were of good Mercure 4* standards. We stayed in a Privilege Double Room which like most parts of the hotel was in need of re-furbishment. The hotel has everything needed to enjoy the eastern extent of the Cote d'Azur and is good value for money. Proximity to Nice Ville train station is most convenient so we parked the car and explored from Menton to Cannes using the train. The walk down Ave Jean Medecin to the Promenade des Anglais was a daily pleasure. However, the hotel is tired with too many signs of wear and tear and needs to be re-decorated and the bathroom fittings checked and maintained.

Finally managed to get here for our 10th stay, its been a long time coming. Service as always is first class, the team at the bar on the roof always smiling and a pleasure to chat to. Rooms are spot on and the hotel is in perfect spot for local amenities. Always a great walk from the hotel down to the beach and we cant wait to return next year. Thanks again to all the team to making it another memorable holiday

5 nights stay,
+: Good location. Cleaning staff is really nice and fast to make the room properly.
-: Obtained a lower floor room while check-in around 3 pm as been told the hotel was fully booking.
No sufficient food when arrived at 9:15 am for breakfast even many people continued to come in till 10am.
During the high season with so many foreign tourists, the global quality of service is average compared to other seashore Mercure hotels in France according to my personal experience.
