At the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin, the grandeur of the opulent lobby and luxurious rooms is frequently lauded, yet some areas are criticized for being dated. While the hotel's location receives high marks for its convenience to historical sites, opinions on value diverge, with some guests finding the cost unjustified. The service is routinely commended for its attentiveness, though not without occasional reports of slow responses. Cleanliness is a strong point, with most guests enjoying spotless accommodations. The amenities, including the spa and breakfast buffet, are popular, though calls for updates are noted.

We are family of 4. Parents and two teenagers (boy and a girl 18/17). We have previously been at the Adlon. Also this time we called the reservations and I asked for rooms with a "Unter den Linden" view. The person in reservations sold us an Adlon Executive Suite and a Superioor deluxe Room - Both interconneted to each other. Booking this combination would guarntee us the desired view. I like when sales staff are attentative and are doing a good sale.
Adlon is ideally located and we enjoy the venue and used both the Pool and Spa area and dined at the restaurant Quarre as well.
We used the Valet parking and enjoyed that the car is made ready for travel when delivered back (mins and 2 bottles of water).

We booked the hotel already during corona lock down and got a special rate including upgrade and sparkling wine as welcome in the room.

Our upgrade was a room facing Unter den Linden and if you looked out of the window to your left, you saw the Brandenburg Gate. We were so happy. The room was spacious with all amenities and a huge comfy bed.

Every staff member was always friendly and at service. I was celebrating a round birthday and received a small cake and pralines as compliments from the hotel. What a nice gesture!!

Breakfast was table service with a huge breakfast menue. The staff was also touring the room with extra food like freshly cooked waffles. Food quality fresh and excellent.

We loved our stay which was made truly memorable by the friendliness of all staff members. Even in a 5 star hotel not always the case.

Would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed at the Adlon Kempinski for 3 nights with my husband on a short holiday. We realized we had never been to Berlin and decided to remedy this.
We chose the Adlon based on its proximity to the Brandenburg Tor, and this was the right decision as we literally looked at it every day from the window of our junior suite (had to lean out and look left but thats fine, we also had beautiful views of the large main boulevard, Unter den Linden).
I honestly write that from the second we checked in until the second we left, my husband and I were pampered and looked after in such a fashion that I think the Adlon must be one of the best hotels in the entire world.
Our room was large and spacious, and quirky in a good way. I was surprised to hear that the building itself is new, although there was actually always a hotel in the same spot (with the same architecture).
We took most of our meals in the large lobby/bar area in the middle of the main floor, simply because we were too busy out looking around or touring to be bothered with restaurant reservations.
I think the highlight of our trip was really meeting and getting to know Concierge Martin Werner. This person is the epitome of a genuinely nice man who wants guests in his charge to fully enjoy themselves. This already started before we even arrived, as we wanted to see a football match, specifically Union Berlin against Feyenoord. Martin helped us organize tickets, he met us for the game, we actually accompanied him to the stadium and then met up afterward (he was attending as well in a different area). He traveled safely back to the hotel with us as we discussed the events of the game (it was pretty eventful gotta say).
Martin also organized an absolutely amazing tour guide, Stephen, to speak with us about the city of Berlin and some of its history. He was so interesting we were sad when our time ended.
Finally, when it was time to go further, Martin was able to help us get appointments for our PCR tests - the testing facility is right next door and was the nicest facility I have ever been in outside the place where I live.
And even actually everyone on staff at the Adlon are so professional, yet welcoming, they ruin hotel stays elsewhere for any guest staying with them! An example: we arrived back from the game and wanted a quick drink in the bar before going upstairs. The hostess informed us that the bar was full for a private gathering, but then took an order from us for drinks and had them sent upstairs to the room. Wonderful!
I also believe the price to quality ratio is excellent. This hotel is outstanding in every way, yet you are not crying when the bill comes. It only makes me want to come again, and stay longer. Thank you very much!

The best thing about the Adlon is the location and breakfast. Having breakfast looking out to Brandenburg Gate is great. Breakfast was excellent , great choice including champagne and caviar . Service could be a bit slow when busy and my partner had to ask several times before omlette was brought and also coffee on one occasion. A 5 star restaurant should be better and service was far better in Regent Hotel. We had to change rooms after first night because the mattress was so soft our body shape were still showing next night . Hotel was quick to provide an alternative room but with a TV on which sound didnt adjust so they had to replace TV which was done promptly with complimentary bottle of wine as apology. No real bar except lobby bar which was also busy with non hotel guests due to hotel location, so had to queue to get in. Not acceptable for a 5 star hotel surely guest should get priority. Pool and sauna very small . Regent was far nicer hotel overall with much better service which you expect from 5 star hotel

Dear Guest David299 Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review on TripAdvisor. I am indeed very happy to read that we exceeded your expectations in regards to our location, breakfast ambiance and offer. I will gladly forward your praises to the respective department. But how very sad to learn that your very positive impressions were clouded in the aftermath through the service during breakfast. Please be assured that we take your feedback very seriously. We immediately discussed the point you raised with the team and will respond to them through increased training in this area. I would like to sincerely apologise once again for the issues you experienced in your room with your mattress and the television. This in no way corresponds to our high standards. However, am truly happy to read that your comments were immediately taken seriously and the points rectified without delay. I can understand your disappointment because of the waiting time in our lobby. Of course, first of all, the well-being of our hotel guests is very important to us. In no way we want to disappoint them. But as a Berlin institution, we are also committed to Berliners and Berlin visitors. However, our employees are required to reserve a large part of the tables for our hotel guests but sometimes also this area is completely occupied. I have to admit, your statement regarding our pool and sauna area surprises us. By splitting the Pool & Fitness area and Adlon Spa by Resense, our guests have the opportunity to choose their individual option. In fact, one of our saunas is currently closed for maintenance. Generally, the spa has more capacity for visitors to the sauna. Dear David299, we would be very happy to welcome you back again and to convince you with an even more enjoyable stay by providing a true Adlon experience. Kind regards Carsten Seubert Hotel Manager

We visited the Adlon for High Tea while in Berlin and it certainly did not disappoint. Every staff member was courteous and welcoming. Food excellent and ambiance in the lobby lounge super with live piano music and stunning furniture.

A special commendation to all staff for wearing their masks properly for the entire time they were working and not pulling them below their nose or touching them with their hands. We were in many other hotels and restaurants during our time in Berlin where we were put off by service personnel not wearing their masks properly or touching their masks with their hands. Every single employee at Adlon who we saw was doing the right thing which made us relax and is a credit to them because the masks are certainly not comfortable. In Corona times, this hotel is where I would like to be!

My parents who lived in what was West Germany had always wanted to visit The Adlon. Post Covid managed to persuade them to make the trip with us and the Hotel and its staff did not disappoint.
Clearly the location and the history of the Hotel are unique but that doesn't make as much of a difference to a successful stay as the way you are made to feel. In a hotel with a guest roster full of the global 'good and great' one could worry that 'normal' guests might get overlooked. Absolutely not! We were made to feel like VIPs with a room upgrade and Emmi who checked us in was an absolute star! Everything was ready exactly as it should be and even though we were very early arriving Emmi sorted everything and even showed us to our 'private lift' (not quite, but it only went from outside our rooms to the pool and we never saw anyone else using it in our 3 days there so it felt 'private' :-) ). But that's not all. Emmi then spotted us as she left for her lunch break and stopped to chat with us and check everything was ok. She didn't have to do that but the fact she did made us feel really special. Thank you Emmi.
We spent each evening in the Lobby Bar and the young lady who greeted us was also exceptional, moving armchairs so we could sit together as a group of 5 (those things are HEAVY, I know, I tried lifting one!).
Hat tip to Sebastian too who took time to chat with us about our travels.
As I have said, there is no 'pecking order' among guests. It is a special Hotel and everyone is made to feel equally special.
Finally, you have to try the Currywurst. It's expensive sure, but not unreasonably so when you consider you can eat it in front of the Brandenburg Gate and it comes sprinkled with gold! A real treat.

I’m very happy I stayed at the Historic Adlon Kempinski Hotel. From the moment my taxi arrived and the doorman greeted me I knew it was special. Check in was flawless, staff friendly, a grand and historic atmosphere.

The location is great overlooking the Brandenburg Gate, one can only the comings and goings of many historical figures for meetings or balls at the hotel.

My room was way in the back overlooking and interior courtyard so no street or other city noise. The room was of good size, comfortable, and clean. Bathroom was great.

My room included breakfast, which was great, the buffet has something for everyone and all was fresh and of great quality.

The lobby bar and restaurant was enjoyable and great to people watch.

Check out as with check in was smooth and once again the staff very friendly and attentive. I’m very pleased with my stay and hope to return on my next trip to Berlin.

The Hotel Adlon Kempinski is a beautiful hotel with a great location. My husband and I stayed 4 nights as a last-minute break in December and had a lovely time.
The service is excellent throughout – you really know you are at a 5* and all staff go over and above.

It's right on the Brandenburg Gate, a few minutes from the Reichstag, and walking distance to many other tourist attractions.

Check in was efficient, although we arrived earlier than the room was ready. This was no problem though as we walked down to the Reichstag, and then to the Christmas markets at Potsdamer Platz.

We were upgraded to a similar room, but in a better part of the hotel which was nice. The room was an Executive, and it was really very good indeed. I honestly don’t think we needed any more than the room we booked. It was plush, classy and spacious, with a beautiful bathroom, powerful shower and gorgeous Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries.

One thing to note with the room, there was no iron. We were eating in the Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer on the first evening (2 Michelin star on-site restaurant, I will do a separate review) and my Husbands shirt came out of his case very creased. However, we asked the reception for an iron and they sent one up which was good.

A few times we went for drinks in the lobby bar which was elegant with great service.

One afternoon we had a spa treatment which was excellent. The therapist was very good and professional and the spa itself felt very luxurious. My only niggling issue with the spa is that the rest of the facilities are in a totally different part of the hotel, this wasn’t explained at all and we were a bit confused after our treatment where to go or what to do as this wasn’t explained.

I’d absolutely recommend the Adlon Kempinksi – it’s a very special hotel and even though you can stay in much cheaper hotels in Berlin, I think it is worth the price tag.

We had our honeymoon at Siam Kempinski Bangkok and we really love it. We booked that hotel because our fave restaurant is situated there, sra bua by kiin kiin.

So for our first Yr anniversary, we decided last minute to have weekend in Eastern Germany and try 1 night in Aldlon kempinski and decide later on if we will extend 1 more night or drive somewhere again.
My husband was so excited for this stay because of what we experienced in Bangkok.
So we checked in today and was given room 302.sadly it was facing the back part of the hotel, with scaffoldings/construction site and smoking area for staff. Wanted to let it pass and just close the curtain but I'm sad thinking how excited my hubby was for this stay. I checked our agoda booking and it stated executive room with street view. So gathered my courage and called reception while hubby was parking the car. As soon as I asked if they have a better view room, I was told that the rate is higher as it is a different room type. When I mentiond about the street view stated by agoda, was then told to wait and he will call back if there is an availability.
Male staff called back, I think aryan, saying a staff is on the way to assist. We waited 10 mins not touching anything, to be considerate.

Moved to 338.okay Street View indeed. But nothing special. But at least no scaffolding. Not complaining coz that was the booked room. But still dreaminh how beautiful Siam was. Lol.

Just wondering if this time of pandemic all the rooms are booked out? If not maybe give the best rooms to guests who takes the risk to travel? Just an opinion (of course to guest's advantage) :D

So anyway, even though we are a couple, 338 has 2 single beds joined together but weren't stabilised. When my husband sat on one bed, it kinda moved or rolled. We stared at each other and just laughed it out. We couldn't be bothered calling again to ask for a room change nor someone to fix it. We just want to sleep in tonight and check out tomorrow.
Thanks to aryan for calling back to check if we are happy with the 2nd room. He offered to send someone to check on the bed issue but hubby was really tired of the long drive, we couldn't be bothered.

Still love kempinski. Maybe not to stay here again, but, next time we come back once sra bua is operating again. Lesson learned, don't expect too much.

Great hotel, world class service, breakfast a la carte, spend some extra money to get room facing "Unter den Linden". Luxury, classic rooms - great interior. So far the best hotel choice in Berlin. Location close to the Brandenburger gate - must seen. It takes some efforts to get to shopping malls.
