Address
Neighbourhood: Eixample
Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.

A series of five buildings of widely varying architecture make up the strip known as the "Block of Discord." Casa Mulleras along with Casa Lleó Morera, Casa Bonet, Casa Amatller and Casa Batlló are a series of tremendous architectural wonders on Passeig de Gràcia that are not to be missed. Casa Mulleras was originally built in 1868 and remodeled in a Neoclassical style by Enric Sagnier between 1906 and 1911, as commissioned by Ramon Mulleras. The more sober Neoclassical style of Casa Mulleras contrasts sharply with its more opulent Modernist architecture neighbors. Nonetheless, Casa Mulleras does incorporate some eclectic features from Rococo architecture such as the gallery and the balconies. Another beautiful building to enjoy.

Casa Mulleras is a building in the "Illa de la Discòrdia” of Passeig de Gracia, in the same block of buildings as Casa Bonet, Casa Amatller, Casa Lleó i Morera and Casa Batlló. Unlike the latter three, but similar to Casa Bonet, this building is built in the Neo-Classical style in contrast to the opulent Catalan Modernism. Despite the seeming restrained design when juxtaposed against Catalan Modernism, this building has some beautiful features such as the bay windows, the gallery just above it on the first floor and the classical balconies on either side of it.

Worth a look if visiting Illa de la Discòrdia

Walking with my girlfriend and a couple of friends, we passed by Casa Lleo i Morera and next to Casa Mulleras. It was built by the architect Pau Martorell i Roig and is located in the quadrangle of discord with works by Gaudí, Puig i Cadafalch, Domènech i Montaner with the Lleó Morera house, the Batlló house and the Amatller house.
