Nestled close to the majestic Niagara Falls, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Niagara Falls New York garners praise for its scenic location and the welcoming atmosphere created by its friendly staff. Although guests appreciate the cleanliness and the inviting vibe of the well-maintained rooms, some travelers are disappointed by the less-than-comfortable beds and extra charges for parking. While the hotel's service receives high marks for attention to detail, opinions are divided over the value, as additional fees and the lack of certain amenities, like complimentary breakfast, leave some guests feeling the pinch.

Hotel's Favourite
We chose this hotel as it is very close to the falls. If you exit from the back of the hotel the walking trail is right, there along the river. The falls are about a 10–15-minute walk. You can also park in the back lot.
We checked in a little earlier than our time and thankfully our room was ready. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and helpful with everything we asked them for. Upon arrival they offered us warm chocolate chip walnut cookies. This quickly became a daily routine with the kids as one of the staff members let them know they can have as many as they want. 😊
Our room (two queen bed suite) was enough space for 2 adults/3 children. This room has a sitting area with a pull-out couch and another TV. This room also comes with a refrigerator and a microwave. The first day we got here within two hours we could not get into our room with the key, we later found out the battery in the key reader was dead. We headed down to the front desk and they let us know someone would meet us upstairs to fix it. I’m thinking we would be waiting forever however this pleasant and efficient maintenance man took less than 5 minutes to meet us to fix the battery and make sure it worked. On the second day we were here we realized we did not have a microwave in our room. When we went to the front desk, we were informed these rooms are supposed to have microwaves in them. Not too long later another pleasant and efficient maintenance man delivered us one.
A note for families with children; they have a lot of TV channels to offer in the room during downtime.
The housekeeping department came daily and always replenished our towels, made the beds, and collected the trash. Whenever we would need extra of anything they would always have it in our room.
The kids loved the pool and jacuzzi and it was never overly crowded.
We had breakfast twice at the hotel. The first day we did the breakfast buffet which included cereals, fresh fruits, oatmeal, yogurts, eggs, pancakes, French toast, breakfast meats, bagels, breads, pastries, juices etc. Children 10 and under were free. The food was good, and everyone enjoyed it.
The staff at the restaurant were also very friendly. Fantastic hospitality by the entire staff during our entire stay.

Our family stayed at Double Tree while visiting the Falls. The location is perfect and all of the attractions in Niagara Falls State Park are accessible via walking path. We left our car in the hotel parking lot most of the week.
We opted to include breakfast with our stay. There is no buffet, they gave us a $30 credit per day to use in the restaurant on breakfast, The prices were a little high ($13 for scrambled eggs, bacon and toast) but the portions were large. My husband and I shared a breakfast and ordered from the kids menu ($7 for 2 pancakes and bacon) for our son and came in just under the $30. There was plenty of food to share and we had some left over every day. Our servers both at breakfast and at dinner were accommodating and friendly.
Our room was clean and quiet. My only complaint was that there was a (nice) shower but no bathtub. This made bathing our son a challenge. I don't know if the entire hotel was this way or if we were just unlucky. Otherwise, we were very happy with our room.
The pool was busy and felt crowded after dinner our first night so we went late afternoon/before dinner the other days and it was more enjoyable. There were plenty of clean towels available.
There was no housekeeping due to COVID, I assume. When we needed more towels/trash emptied/clean sheets, we called the Front Desk and they had what we needed delivered. Front Desk staff was polite and helpful.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you so much for your kind words and we are very glad you and your family enjoyed your stay with us! In regards to the tubs, all of our rooms have walk-in showers. The only rooms that have tubs are out jacuzzi suites, which have a shower and jacuzzi tub. I am glad to hear all your staff interaction was pleasant and even with a few COVID restrictions, everything was smooth and enjoyable. We welcome you and your family back anytime!

Although the check in process went smoothly, it was downhill from there. There was a very brief wait before check in. The check in agent greeted us warmly, answered all of our questions, gave us our warm cookies and bottles of water for being an HHonors status member and even looked for a room with a view without even asking.

The basics were met - clean and quiet room and comfortable bed. We were notified ahead of time not to expect housekeeping but we could ask for supplies. Well, when we wanted to get new towels, we were very disappointed that they ran out and we would have to wait until morning when housekeeping came in to do laundry to get more.

The pool was a disaster and COVID 19 protocols are not being enforced. There is a sign that there is a maximum of 20 people that can occupy the pool with a max of 5 per group. When I came down, I counted 37 people. Although not the hotel's fault per se, someone from the staff needs to enforce the rules. I saw security cameras in the pool area. Was security asleep at the job? When I came down later when there were less than 20 people, the pool water seemed very cloudy. Makes one wonder how often the pool is cleaned, filters changed and checked for cleanliness.

Another area that needs monitoring is the elevators. Understandbly, there is a limit of 4 per elevator and it is not practical to build extra elevators. Perhaps a staff member or security guard could be stationed near the elevators at busy times as I witnessed arguments and near fist fights when people tried to ignore the 4 limit rule.

The $15 parking fee seems excessive, as does the 7% marketing fee. It seems that this hotel is being booked to near capacity. If social distancing is not possible, perhaps the hotel can eithe use the money from parking, reduced housekeeping services and "marketing" fees to hire security to enforce the 20 limit max person pool rule and 4 person max elevator rule or not book to capacity. I'd even be fine if the hotel shut the pool down if people cannot follow simple rules.

Would think twice if health and safety matter to you especially during COVID.

When we checked in, the lady was kind but she was more focused on the conversation she had with the other lady behind the desk, she did not give me information about the pool or the hours of breakfast until I asked her. When we got to my room everything was fine until we decided to take out the sofa bed, went to bring the pillow and the extra blanket from the closet and found the pillow with three yellow spots, I called the front desk to let them know and ask for two pillows and two more blankets, the lady who answered told me that she would send someone with the extra things, 35 minutes later she called again because the pillows and the blankets did not arrive. A man answered and told me that they don’t have more because they had many people in the hotel. he only gave me a blanket of two that I asked for. I had to use some clothes as a pillow to sleep because my children and my wife had the ones that were stained. The next morning we went to breakfast and I had to pay extra for breakfasts because the reservation only covered $ 30 for breakfast. When I made the reservation I paid extra for the included breakfasts for the members of my family. On the second day we went to have breakfast at the restaurant and they told us that we had to wait 45 minutes to get the table, we decided to wait and I decided to go ask after 30 minutes and they told me that after 25 minutes they could give me a table but that they wouldn't serve breakfast 45 minutes after giving us the table because the kitchen was super busy with orders. We decided not to wait and I finally ended up with a $ 30 card that I will never use again. I understand that the situation with covid19 is very complicated but if the hotel is not prepared, it does not have the resources and the necessary employees would not have fully opened with all capacity. There was no apology or request for compensation at any time.

Good Afternoon Juangonzalez172, Thank you for writing your detailed review of your stay with us here at the Doubletree. We sincerely apologize for the service failures you had during your stay with us. Unfortunately the wait time at the restaurant was due to being sold out and a Holiday weekend, we appreciate your patience with the restaurant. In regards to the pillow situation, that is NOT ok from our staff and I would like to apologize on behalf of the Front Desk staff - this will be a learning opportunity. We hope you return in the future, and give us another chance.

We stayed as a family over the 4th of July weekend, and were generally appalled at the lack of services (especially given the price and capacity) offered by the Doubletree Niagara Falls New York.

For perspective, the property was entirely sold out, as one would expect for a busy holiday weekend. All rooms occupied. Room rates were $380/nt, as one might expect for a busy holiday weekend. Again, I am okay with and understand that.

What I'm not okay with is the continuing lack of service, still clinging to "because Covid" as a lingering and increasingly disingenuous excuse. To be clear, all capacity controls are gone. Every room occupied, sold out. Paid parking overflowing across the street. No masks for the housekeeping staff, the restaurant was severely understaffed, to the point of arriving at 0930 for breakfast, still not having food by 1020, and having to go ask the front desk for a late checkout fearing we wouldn't be done by the 1100 check out time. There is still no daily housekeeping service, meaning no made beds and no fresh towels daily. There was no mention of that at check in either. Upon check-in, there was only a single towel in the room for our family of four. Watching the housekeeping staff turn over rooms and roam the halls without masks, they're clearly no longer worried about catching Covid, but drastically reduced services persist.

It's great that the hotel is again able to operate at capacity, and I'm okay with busy holiday prices too. But if you're going to do that, you can't claim "all's well" with regard to capacity and price while still claiming "because Covid" with regard to drastically reduced services, to the point of destroying any value and guest experience.

Particularly with the lack of daily housekeeping, it just felt like they were still desperately clinging to the Covid excuse in order to save money while still charging guests full price and then some. It's July. Anyone who wants a vaccine has had the opportunity to get one, and any Covid measure that doesn't save the hotel a ton of money is long gone.

Reduced capacity, reduced price and reduced services. Full capacity, full price, and full services. Pick. You can't have it both ways.

Right now, they've chosen high price, high capacity and low service, which isn't a winning formula.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. During the 4th of July weekend, rates will be high as it's a Holiday. We are sorry that some services are still on hold due to COVID, but pretty much ALL service has resumed besides daily housekeeping service and room service. We have come a long way, and we hope to come back to 100% normalcy in the near future. In regards to the masks, all guests and staff members do not have to wear them if they are vaccinated - this is CDC and New York State rules at this time. I am sorry if seeing staff without masks caused an inconvenience...But we are not mandated to wear them anymore. The parking overflow was due to the Holiday, and a full capacity hotel... We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay...We hope you come back when ALL services resume so you can have a seamless stay.

We stayed here 9/21/21-9/24/21 and had a river view balcony’s room. We booked through a 3rd party and liked the available amenities like the onsite bar/ restaurant. Pool and hot tub did smell too strong of chlorine for my preference. I liked that the hotel was a little 15 minute walk along the scenic river to the tourist areas and other restaurants. I did not like that they charged $15 a day for a open/ unsecured parking space. I also thought the hotel was showing it’s age in the wear and tear of the carpets, wallpaper, and the bed was a platform bed- not the most comfortable for me. The cleanliness seemed a little lacking, especially in the hallways. Garbage and dirty towels and dishes stayed in hall all day on the 4th floor. Someone else’s hair was on our bathroom floor. Due to Covid, we were told housekeeping would not clean our room during our stay. None of the staff wore masks ( nor did most of the public) anywhere we went. So if Covid/health concerns you, I would not travel to the area right now. It was overall a nicer looking property compared to a lot of the others in the area. I would not rate this hotel a 4 star as advertised, probably closer to a 3. The town itself seems to be struggling to keep up a nice appearance, which is a little surprising with the amount of tourist dollars flowing. The State park itself was nice and clean and not as busy as the summer peak season.

Firstly, if you put the hotel’s zip code in your sat nav, it will lead you to the hotel’s car park that is located at the back of the hotel and is a bit of a pain to walk to the front carrying luggage. Make sure you arrive at the front car park.

My first impression of the Doubletree was one of a conveyor belt chain hotel that was just catering to a captive audience of people on leisure trips visiting the falls or for business conferencing. We arrived in the evening and check in was efficient.

We were soon in our room - a King two-room Suite. The bedroom had absolutely no natural light coming through but the living area with the sofa bed had a window. Overall it was clean and a good size with a spacious bathroom. We were meant to have complementary water in the room but this did not appear until I left a note for housekeeping the following day.

We stayed for two nights and I did warm up to the hotel a bit more towards the end. It is in a great location for walking to the Falls and not far from the centre of town.

Breakfast was served as a buffet - it was okay. Nothing special. Staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant came to its own at lunch and dinner. I was impressed by the quality of food that was served during this times from an a la carte menu. Again, the staff were very helpful and attentive.

We did not visit the indoor pool. Seeing it from outside, it was well used by families who seemed to be having fun and enjoying themselves.

All in all, this was a good option for visiting the Falls that was not too expensive in the peak summer season. I would recommend it but with managed expectations that there is nothing special about it.

We stayed with my family for 2 nights. For the cost of the hotel the rooms are in very bad shape (stained carpet, ripped curtain, balcony full of spiderwebs), they don't clean your room unless you "book it" which they failed to tell us at check in, so we had no cleaning in the room for our stay. We were 4 people and they only left us 2 towels, we asked for extra twice until we had to go looking for the cleaning cart our self to ask for them. Services in general (except restaurant) was very poor, we always felt they were doing us a favor for everything we asked.

Dear Guest, we are sorry to hear you did not have a pleasant stay with us, and the rooms were not up to standard. We are only a 5-year-old hotel, so I wouldn't say we are in very bad shape. But we do apologize if it was not to your satisfaction. Housekeeping service is based on request, and there are signed in your guest rooms, guest elevators, at the front desk and our front desk clerk should have also stated this. I apologize if they missed informing you of this detail. We hope you give us another opportunity in the future to change your impression around.

Upon arriving to DoubleTree, I met with Caroline, who at the time I walked in was juggling two calls at once and still made time to greet me with a smile. Caroline pulled up my reservation almost instantaneously and gave me a breakdown on where everything was located within the hotel. She is very knowledgeable about room locations and what the policies were in regards to closing times of the amenities and parking. Without hesistation, she was able to accommodate our request of a room change because we preferred to have a better view!!! After we had settled into the room, we went back down to the lobby to introduce her to my wife and she gave us suggestions and directions on where restaurants were located. Also, she made sure we knew how to get to all the good tourist spots nearby. Caroline provided excellent customer service and I would recommend anyone that will be staying in the Niagara Falls area to go to the DoubleTree by Hilton! We will suggest this hotel as the place to stay for anyone based off our interaction with Caroline! Thank you for everything!!!

All aspects of our stay here was 5 ⭐. From the front desk staff to the housekeeping and service people. Great location to the falls, it involves a walk down shoreline trail to the Niagara falls state park. The park is beautifully laid out. To the falls viewing, all ada accessable, you can see American, Bridal Veil, and Horseshoe falls. Truly magnificent. You can take paid excursions to the base of the falls, with the expected wet experience. They offer plastic rain ponchos, and flip flops for the trek down to the base- not ADA accessible. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
