Although the check in process went smoothly, it was downhill from there. There was a very brief wait before check in. The check in agent greeted us warmly, answered all of our questions, gave us our warm cookies and bottles of water for being an HHonors status member and even looked for a room with a view without even asking.
The basics were met - clean and quiet room and comfortable bed. We were notified ahead of time not to expect housekeeping but we could ask for supplies. Well, when we wanted to get new towels, we were very disappointed that they ran out and we would have to wait until morning when housekeeping came in to do laundry to get more.
The pool was a disaster and COVID 19 protocols are not being enforced. There is a sign that there is a maximum of 20 people that can occupy the pool with a max of 5 per group. When I came down, I counted 37 people. Although not the hotel's fault per se, someone from the staff needs to enforce the rules. I saw security cameras in the pool area. Was security asleep at the job? When I came down later when there were less than 20 people, the pool water seemed very cloudy. Makes one wonder how often the pool is cleaned, filters changed and checked for cleanliness.
Another area that needs monitoring is the elevators. Understandbly, there is a limit of 4 per elevator and it is not practical to build extra elevators. Perhaps a staff member or security guard could be stationed near the elevators at busy times as I witnessed arguments and near fist fights when people tried to ignore the 4 limit rule.
The $15 parking fee seems excessive, as does the 7% marketing fee. It seems that this hotel is being booked to near capacity. If social distancing is not possible, perhaps the hotel can eithe use the money from parking, reduced housekeeping services and "marketing" fees to hire security to enforce the 20 limit max person pool rule and 4 person max elevator rule or not book to capacity. I'd even be fine if the hotel shut the pool down if people cannot follow simple rules.
Would think twice if health and safety matter to you especially during COVID.
