About
We are an association of artists, cultural managers and creative people from different disciplines who created Drap-Art with the aim of making the ecologic desasters provoked by our current consumer society visible through art, and proposing alternative, more sustainable lifestyles. Drap-Art was born in 1995, in Barcelona, as a platform for artists who recover the concept of the objet trouvé and reflect it on their environment and its concerns. Drap-Art has been present in more than 16 countries and in its 24 years of activity the project was extended to the Americas, with an annual event in Barcelona, Montevideo, Pittsburgh, and since 2017 also in Buenos Aires, spreading the work of more than 780 artists and conducting awareness-raising activities for all audiences. Drap-Art has become a network of the emerging sector of Catalonian artists, designers, artisans and other creative professionals who work with trash and encourages the exchange with artists from other parts of the world

Neighbourhood: Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the centre, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theatre that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.

Excellent art and sustainability association and gallery located in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona. Every year, with a lot of collaborative effort, they carry out a festival that raises awareness about our treatment of the planets and others. They also have a craft and recycling market every Saturday in Plaça Reial.

We visited this peculiar gallery where we saw wonderful works of art made with recycled material, in a little corner of the Gòtic neighborhood, near the port. Original and affordable works. Highly recommended!

It is a wonderful creative space. Where our waste comes to life. A space that brings together various artists who work with our waste. They give life to objects with soul.

…A place full of creativity, magic, emotions, sustainable art and good intentions. Essential visit. Totally recommendable the gallery-shop, and the market that they do every Saturday in Plaza Real!

La Carbonería is more than a gallery and the headquarters of the DRAP-ART artistic recycling festival. It is a meeting and exchange place for artists who work with waste material to raise awareness, surprise and make us participate in the change of mentality that our world needs to reach a better place.
