Magnificent church, built in the 14th century. It is relatively plain on the outside and without a great deal of art on the inside, but the incredibly high vaulted ceiling and soaring columns let great deal of light in and imbue a heavenly feeling. While there is apparently a charge to enter in the daytime, we were able to enter in the early evening without payment.

The oldest neighborhood in the city where there were settlements in Roman times. Many of the buildings here are from centuries before ours, lots of history, lots of narrow streets, and a good place to wander. You will enter some big open squares where there is more air and sun.

The Gaudi House Museu in Parc Guell is closed (as of 7 April 2024 when we visited). Appears to be under renovation but there are no signs or information to indicate what is happening or when it will re-open. The rest of the Parc is open and well worth visiting. Expect a steep walk up from either of the closest metro stations, but we chose Vallcarca which leads you to an upper, side entrance gate and a quieter walk on winding paths down through planted areas to the main attractions.

What an amazing place. Beautiful and interesting, with the added bonus that it was almost empty. Well worth hopping off the bus to visit - only €5 entrance fee.

The old bull fighting area has been turned into a shopping center. There is a good food court here as well as some good restaurants with outdoor seating. Great view of part of the city from the roof. And outside the Plaza is expansive and leads to a big traffic circle and fountains.

Went to Barcelona to see BARCA soccer team play. They are currently at the stadium here in the Olympic area. Glad we made it up to the area. Very beautiful and well maintained. Access by bus.

Parc del Fòrum is a modern place located in the surroundings of Barcelona city and close to the Mediterranean Sea, where you can walk, run, go to the beach or come to this place to see some temporal exhibitions. I came here with my almost 7 years old daughter to see "Expo Dinosaures", an exposition of large models of dinosaurs. A nice place to come with children, where they can see a lot of dinosaurs, see a documentary film and play with other children in a children area, where they can dig and find dinosaurs bonds ot they can go up to a "real" dinosaur. Small, but funny and too artificial.

There are lots of lovely things on this street, one of which was a large number of chocolate shops.

The children were spoiled with chocolate milkshake and chocolate churros (sneakily it gave them the calorie hit they needed to keep walking, 7.5 miles this day!) If you want a sweet treat make it here. We went to Granja La Pallaresa and it was good!

Casa Sayrach is a modernista building, but one of the last, built in 1918.
The building was designed by Gabriel Borrell and built by Manuel Sayrach.
Casa Sayrach hasn't overwhelming many datails, like many other modernista buildings.
Casa Sayrach is more simple and classy, and it is a graceful building.

The Palau Reial Major is a Royal Palace located in the Placa de Rei which is located in the heart of the Gothic Quarter.

This is where Christopher Columbus met the Catholic Kings on his return from the Americas in 1492.

It's a park that could be enjoyed for all the family (and free). It's better to have a picnic there, because there are not any bar nor restaurant.

This is a Royal palace for Ferdinand and Isabella. The ceiling is especially cool. There is a place to see some Roman ruins underneath. It’s pretty cool.

We happened upon this square by chance. Unfortunately nothing much was going on during our visit. There are a few cafes and restaurants in the general area and you can have a drink or a meal in relative peace and quiet. Apparently lots of buskers and artists frequent this area and it becomes quite lively at certain times. The church Església de Santa Maria del Pi, is quite beautiful and is worth visiting too.

If you face the statue, you will see a very medieval square, because modern houses will remain behind and to the side. The grey gloomy walls of the Santa Agata Chapel will be the backdrop for the statue of count Ramon Berenguer III by sculptor Josep Llimona i Bruguera installed here in 1888. The stylish architectural ensemble shows that the history of Barcelona doesn`t begin with Gaudi and Catalan modernism...

Located just off the rambla within Plaça Vila de Madri, is a Roman burial ground, it ias possible to see it from street level, or 2 euro entry, amazing the things you see when cruising the streets of this wonderful city.
