Integrated Behavioral and Physical Health Care in Michigan

Michigan has long-been a national leader in behavioral health. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, working with our stakeholders, is eager to build on this proud history and the expertise in our state to strengthen Michigan’s Medicaid-funded behavioral health system. Leveraging the best of our state’s health care ecosystem, the Department has outlined a vision for care integration that brings together physical and specialty behavioral health services to better meet the whole-person needs of the people we serve. These changes aim to simplify access to care, support the growing demand for behavioral health services, and improve health and quality of life outcomes.

Thank you for visiting this site to learn more about the future of behavioral health in Michigan. MDHHS cannot do this important work alone, and we look forward to collaborating with stakeholders from across the state to design a system that serves people well and meets the critical needs of our communities.
