Civil Monetary Penalty (CMP) Grant Program

Website Updated 12/5/2023

Description

Civil Monetary Penalties (CMPs) are fines imposed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on nursing facilities that do not meet federal health and safety standards. The Michigan Long Term Care Division, a branch of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, is responsible for the oversight and administration of the grant programs and seeks innovative projects that support, protect, and benefit nursing facility residents. The goal is to enhance the quality of care and quality of life for nursing facility residents through initiatives that focus on enhancement or educational philosophies through current and sound evidence-based practices.
