Records

Resources are available to help find adoptive and biological parent and child information.

Closed Adoption Records

In general, information from closed adoption records can be released to the adult adopted person, adoptive parents of a minor child, biological/former parent, or adult biological/former sibling. Review our closed adoption agency list to see who holds the records.

Central Adoption Registry

Our Central Adoption Registry contains former parent and adult former sibling statements giving consent or denial to have information about them released to an adult adopted person.

Confidential Intermediary Program

If the information you are looking for is not provided through Closed or Central Adoption records, the court where the adoption took place may be able to assist. Each court offers a Confidential Intermediary Program for adoptions where parental rights were terminated between May 28, 1945 and September 12, 1980.
