I stayed at the Bertràn aparthotel for 5 nights and I was very comfortable. The room was very functional, the kitchen was great for lunch and always clean. The room was always clean and tidy. The staff were great, always very helpful, welcoming and ready to meet your every need. I had a great time, I can't complain about anything and I strongly recommend it.

Booked this thinking we would get 2 double rooms but was really surprised to find that we actually got 2 apartments. The space allocated as ''double'' turned out to be an apartment. We did check the photos but was we had no idea how much space we would get. Double bedroom separated by a screen leading into a kitchen/dining area which in turn leading into a sitting room. Bedroom with crisp white sheets plus extra bedding in cupboard if needed. Kitchen equipped with basics ( 4 cups/plates/glasses etc) microwave/double sink. Dining Area large table 4 chairs. Lounge settee/armchair/2x coffee tables/tv. Bathroom with shower and bidet. Beautifully tiled in beige (towels supplied). Daily cleaned. The place was absolutely spotless.

The metro is about 10 mins walk. And only 3 stops to La Rambla ( 17mins and that included the walk to station) Train direction is the university. Alight at Diaginal to exit at the top of the Ramblas. Walk down to the bottom and arrive at the port or half way down the Ramblas turn left to see the gothic quarter with its beautiful buildings/alleyways and churches.

Any other places you wish to visit just ask at the reception in the hotel. The staff are so willing to help you. The reception area has loads of leaflets on places of interest (including all the Gaudi places) they also have a whole range of maps. The staff will even plan a route for you.

Near the hotel are 2 small supermarkets a couple of bars and restaurants for your immediate needs.

The swimming pool on the roof is small but enough to have a quick dip to cool down with a very spacious sunning area (loungers and tables/chairs ) again very clean.

I would say the only thing lacking is a kettle but we over came that by heating a cup of water in the microwave.

The place is a little difficult to find in the beginning but we over came that by taking a taxi. Once we had our bearings we had no problem. Taxi from airport was 26 euros but we only did this once and it was between 3 persons so not to bad.
Single ticket on Metro is 2.15 euros but if you are planning to use the metro more than 3 times in one day then worth buying the daily ticket which is 8.30 euros. This ticket can be used on the buses as well. Also from the metro station you can buy a ticket to the airport but as there were 3 persons it worked out about the same to take a taxi which the hotel booked for us.
The check out is 12 noon but the hotel do have a luggage holding room if your flight is later in the day/evening which we used.

I can not praise the staff highly enough for all the help they gave us and made our stay amazingly pleasant.......Thank you to you all.

Our overall stay was very good and we would stay they again for sure.

Spacious, clean and comfortable, our room (104) had three beds, an armchair and a sofa, with TV (but no BBC). For the two of us. Nice bathroom, including an actual bath, while the kitchen facilities included pans and plates etc with the two electric rings. Fridge was especially useful. AC worked well while there were cool shutters at the windows. Noise from the street no big deal. Wifi worked well. Around the corner, a supermarket as well as fruit and veg shop and a lovely bakery. We used the Valcarca metro stop. Get off fourth stop from the airport (Passeig de Gracia), then change from the railway station to the metro (green line L3, direction Trinitat Nova) which involves going up to street level. Once at Valcarca, you want the right hand exit of two, to the route de Argentina. The exit is on the same level as the viaduct. If you're looking UP at the viaduct once outside, you've taken the wrong exit. Then turn right and walk up the hill, across the viaduct junction, and on to the next traffic lights, passing the LObrador bread shop on the left. Turn left at the traffic lights (Vitages), up Marie de Deu del Carmel, then walk to the end where you will find Carrer Bertran and the hotel just on the left. Simples!

The hotel is clean, affordable, and the rooms are huge as they include kichenettes. The neighborhood is safe, easily accessible to local restaurants, pharmacies, grocers, etc. The staff is excellent. A few things to note. Please use the Thibidabo metro station, not the Vallcarca station. The latter involves a long walk and substantial hills. Second, unlike other reviews, we did not find it easy to walk to Park Guell. While walking is the best option (if not taking a taxi), plan on 30+ minutes and a good workout as the hills are intense. On that point, I would recommend older or out of shape travelers use taxis if staying in the northern part of Barcelona. The hills are quite intense.

Otherwise, this hotel is perfect. It's not fancy but its in excellent condition with fantastic maid service. Once you learn the metro system its easy to navigate to and from this hotel as you can take the metro from Thibidabo to Catalunya square in about 10 minutes. The sites we enjoyed the most were Sagrada Familia (arrive early and bring cash as no cards allowed), the Barcelona Cathedral, and the Las Ramblas shopping promenade. We also took a day trip to Montserrat and thought that was the best part of our trip. If traveling by metro, get the Barcelona Card online and pick up at the tourist desk right outside of baggage claim when you arrive at the airport. Provides free transport on all public transit and lots of discounts to museums. Well worth the money.

This hotel looks nothing special from the front and is in a small side street, that said the rooms were well fitted out, clean and having a proper kitchen was a real plus. We first stayed in a first floor room overlooking the front but found this a bit noisy because of the traffic, they were quite happy to move us to a quieter room to the rear of the hotel without any fuss. Another big plus for this hotel is that it is near the metro station and there were plently of shops and places to eat nearby. If I was to return to Barcelona I would definitly consider staying here again.

We are a family of two adults and two teenage boys. The hotel is a great little find. Going in peak season you would expect to pay a lot for a 3* hotel just outside central Barcelona. We have no problem with the price at all. The hotel has everything we need as we really only used it as a base for our sightseeing holiday. We had 4 single beds. This was great as the apartment was segregated by a hug wardrobe almost giving the feeling of having to separate rooms. Very good bathroom. Bath shower and bidet. Spotless. Sofas dining table and chairs in the lounge and a small kitchen area with fridge. Air conditioning very efficient and plenty of plugs for charging devices etc. There is a small rooftop pool with sun loungers. We used this a couple of times after long days of sightseeing. The maid comes in every day and the room was always spotless.

The hotel is centrally located near metro stops of Av. Tribidado or Vallcarca. A short tube ride to get to La Place de Catalunya. Also round the corner is a stop for the hop on hop off bus which we used on a two day pass €135. We saw lots of the city and you can get off look around then get back on. Buses run from about 730am until 930 pm.

There's a cable car which runs from the seafront to the Miramar hotel on the mountainside which is on the pricy side but gives great views over the city. There is another cable car which goes from the mountain up to the top to the castle which is another €10 each we didn't do this as too pricy in total.

Camp Nou is definitely worth a visit if you have footy fans in your group. They sell tickets outside if there are long queues if you pay by credit card you get 10% off entrance to the museum and tour round the stadium. This was a highlight for all of us. Also a surprise was the Olympic Stadium. Definitely worth a visit. It's free to go round and there are interactive sports which you can take part in like football archery boxing and many more €5 let activity or €15 for all of them. We did a couple. My son played football on the actual Olympic pitch. He was made up.

A personal highlight of Barcelona was walking around Las Ramblas. So busy and vibrant and with plenty of food on offer.

We had a great stay at Aparthotel Bertran and whilst it's not 5* luxury it was perfect for what we needed. I can find no fault at all. I broke a glass a midnight and called reception and they came straight away to help me sort clearing up. The hotel is €40 taxi from hotel but next time we would get the metro.

Had a great stay.

So glad we found Aparthotel Bertran! Parking spot (19 €/night) and price is what sold us on this place, but everything was great. However, if you need a parking spot, call in advance to reserve it. I didn't see anywhere to do it on the website, so I'm glad I called to check.
We had the "penthouse room" (not an apartment, just a hotel room). There was no fridge or anything, but a large (especially by European standards), comfortable room with a big bed and a big bathroom with bathtub (and even a bidet, if you're interested...). We also had prime access to the rooftop pool and very spacious terrace - right outside our door :) Clean room, friendly staff, working AC and TV, calm neighborhood that felt safe (residential area far from pickpockets and crowds, cheap-ish local cafés). Short walk to the Vallcarca metro and we were on the Rambla in minutes! Would stay here again, no questions asked. Only warning I would give is to anyone that has trouble walking - this area of Barcelona is very very hilly!

We are a family of four. Our "apartment" was a long, narrow room (&bathroom)with a queensize bed at one end ,a kitchen area (which we did not need), two single beds and a seating area at the window end.Furnishings were spartan. Our main difficulty was that when our children (aged 6& 9 ) went to bed, they were still in the room with us and so found it difficult to settle. We had no "adult" time. We could not even go out on the balcony because the air conditioner took up most of the space. The absence of socialising areas downstairs in the (very small) lobby meant that when we did return to the hotel we could really only go to our room, which felt very restricted. We did request to be moved to a larger room but were told that there was none available. As a result we cut our stay in Barcelona short. The photo of the lobby is much more glamorous and spacious than it actually is. Apart from the roof top pool, the facilities of this hotel are closer to a Youth Hostel, but not priced accordingly.I would not return to this hotel nor would I recommend it.

People at hotel helped us a lot with touristic information, and I saw the same with another guests. There´s a computer at the lounge to public use and this saved me, because I could do some backups.

The room is very big, we just think that it could have a microwave.

Location is a litlle far from city centre, but the metro is near, with it´s a awesome solution.

This is a good hotel. The rooms are spacious. They have a kitchen and a living room. The staff was nice and helpful.

It is far from the center of the city, but there is a metro station about 10 minutes from the hotel (walking). It is a hill, so it might be painful to drag heavy luggage from the metro station to the hotel. Also, if you like to be in the center of the action, don't stay in this hotel. The hotel area is residential. The metro closes at 11pm on weekdays, even though the people stay out until much later than that. Finding a taxi may be a hassle because everyone else is looking for a taxi too.

Overall, the hotel itself is very good. Location may be inconvenient for some people, depending on their priorities.

Take train from Airport for four stops and exit at PASSEIG DE GRACIA. Change from railway line to Metro by going up to street level where you will find Metro entrance. Take Green line 3 toward TRINITAT NOVA and leave at VALCARCA station. Exit station by the right hand exit toward ROUTE DE ARGENTINA [ you should exit adjacent to the terrace of a bar/café.] Go uphill past the junction of the bridge/viaduct till the next traffic lights which you can see ahead of you. Turn left at these traffic lights [Vitages sign on wall] onto MARIE de DEU del CARMEL which leads onto Carrer BERTRAN, Hotel is on left. SUGGEST YOU PURCHASE A 10 TRAIN JOURNEY TICKET FROM VENDING MACHINE AT AIRPORT RAIL STATION.
