In an elegant historic building in the centre of Rome, the Hotel Canada represents the outcome of Hoteliers' generations experience. It shows the ancient tradition of hospitality that renews itself every day. A recent refurbishment has rediscovered the original architecture of the building. It was constructed in 1870 in order to provide accommodation for officers from the nearby barracks of Castro Pretorio. The Hotel Canada is easily reachable from "Termini Station" (500 m), the most important station of the Eternal City and the main rail yard of Italy. This Station is well connected with both airports of Rome: Roma Leonardo da Vinci/ Fiumicino and Roma Ciampino. The Hotel Canada is located in an ideal spot to visit the very historic centre of Rome. It is close to the subway (Line B, Castro Pretorio's stop) that allows every guest to reach the downtown in just a few minutes.

Just returned from a weekend break. Fabulous hotel near train station and good base for sightseeing. Great customer service, all staff were so friendly and helpful. Rooms were spotless with all the things you need for a break, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, vanity pack, toothbrush/paste and slippers. Huge bed and traditional furnishings. Tea and coffee making facilities. Lovely continental breakfast for €6, cater well for gluten free options and offer soya milk. Nice hotel bar for a drink after a long day sightseeing, very reasonable prices with crisps, biscuits and olives set out late afternoon. Would definitely plan a return visit.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Canada for 4 nights in May. We love this hotel so much and we've stayed here several times. We would always book this hotel on our trips to Rome. It has a chic charm and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble and they are extremely helpful with advice for how to get around the city etc. This isn't the boring business hotel that is seen everywhere with the standard furniture. The rooms here are unique and have Italian charm and instantly make you feel welcome and special. Breakfast was a delight! The hotel is in a quiet area, we heard no traffic noise in the times we've stayed here. Buses and trains are closely situated within a short walking distance and bars and restaurants close by, also within walking distance.

If you are looking for some Old World charm in Rome, please consider Hotel Canada. It is very close to the Rome Train Terminal, so close you wont need a cab or Uber. The closest Metro stop is right around the corner at Castro Pretoria on the Blue Line. Getting on and off there was a lots less of a hassle than walking down to the Termini station.
Hotel Canada has been run by the same family since the 1960’s. They clearly love their grande dame, as all the walls are scuff free, everything seems freshly painted and spotlessly clean. The ceilings are painted with frills and ribbons and there’s plaster moldings around the ceilings. We had the standard European room for a couple, 2 twin beds pushed close together. My husband loved the pillows. The bathroom was a little odd with the spray shower head on the long wall of the bathtub with just a half shower door. And the water pressure was a little on the weak side. However you get all kinds of toiletries, including toothbrushes and toothpaste,soaps, shampoos, body gels, lotions etc.
Our booking included the breakfast- don’t skimp on that!! Lots of fresh delicious pastries, breads tarts, eggs, cold cuts, cheeses, fruit and hand made cappuccinos or American coffee. Wait staff efficient and friendly.
There is also a little bar in the cozy lobby where you can have espresso in the morning or cocktails in the afternoon.
Some rules to observe: they ask that you drop your key at the desk when you leave. You can retrieve as soon as you return. And CLOSE the doors to the elevator as you exit. There is a quaint tiny elevator in the stairwell and if any of the doors are left open, it will not answer when another guest rings for it.

If your scrolling for a Hotel in Rome , Stop right Here. This is the place , about 3 blocks from Rome train terminal, buses inside Rome , and to outlaying cities in Italy , are right there , yet the hotel is in a lovely neighbourhood. It’s a Modern Hotel that feels like home , Clean , well kept , with an exceptional staff , Arber at the front desk was wonderful, Emanuelle the lovely lady manager was also so helpful . The water cooler in the lobby was great , filling up our water bottle with soda or water . The room was amazing , we were upgraded to a junior suite ( never happens to us ) the painted ceiling was a artistic Masterpiece, the room was 5 star , close to everything, You have the pick of all the restaurants in the area . Breakfast was a good buffet , for 9 euro each , 24 to 48 hour transportation passes available at the train terminal , which is also close to the Metro , We fell in love with Rome , and Hotel Canada , we will be back

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Hotel. Location is a 5 min walk to the main Termini. A number of dining options walking distance in the neighborhood. The Hotel decor is Old Rome and the rooms were clean and well serviced. High ceilings with a genuine feel. I’d recommend a courtside room, as streetside can be a bit noisy. The hotel staff were magnificent and supported all our needs with smiles and the utmost of professionalism. For the price, this experience was a great bargain. If you are doing a short stay vacation, you cannot go wrong with this Best Western location.

This was one of our favorite accommodations from our two week trip across Italy! Firstly, the lobby and rooms give an amazing old world atmosphere with the ceiling paintings and classy furnishings met with top notch cleanliness. The staff was very nice and helpful throughout the stay. The bar has very reasonably priced offerings and the breakfast (although an additional charge) also had great variety and staff providing speciality coffee options to guests, so in our opinion it was well worth the small charge. Secondly, the location is very practical. It is close (~5 min walk) to the train station which provided great ease getting in and out of town (it made a day trip to Naples very feasible). It is also about a block from a metro stop which allowed us to easily get around to all the major sights in Rome (Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps & Vatican). I would highly recommend this spot, especially to couples looking for a place with a slightly more romantic feel!

We just came back from our trip from Italy and stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. Like other reviews, the location, the staff, the facilities, the breakfast, everything was very good. Our room was a deluxe double room, which has a little balcony outside and a separate couch area. The bathroom has a skinny bathtub and it was a bit hard to change the direction of the shower but considering many hotels in Rome normally have just a small shower stand, I think it was good from the Roman standard. The breakfast was adequate for everyone. The old elevator was very unique and charming. What we loved the most about this hotel was the friendly staff. Almost every night we enjoyed some quick drinks at the bar next to the reception and the prices were quite reasonable. The lady in the breakfast room took good care of us, too. We highly recommend this hotel to everyone and will be back in the future.

Just spent three nights at this lovely hotel less than 5mins walk from Termini Station (just make sure you get the correct train station exit).
Very grand reception and seating/bar areas combined with traditional rustic style Italian bedrooms.
The staff are great, friendly and helpful and we paid for the €6 breakfast which was value for money.
We enjoy walking and walked the length and breadth of the city for all the main attractions from this hotel and was never more than 45mins from most places. Taxi, metro etc would be much quicker but this is to highlight the great location.
Travelled with three couples in total who all loved the trip and we spent the latter part of each evening in the hotel bar which is amazingly well priced.
Special mention to the lovely Massimo on the bar who was amazing, helpful, funny and is a great credit to the hotel.
We'll definitely be back!

I arranged to stay at Hotel Canada in June 2020 following a recommendation from a friend. As a result of the pandemic our flights were cancelled and we couldn't go so this is not a review of the hotel per se. It is a review about the compassionate, professional and responsible way this hotel has dealt with my request for a refund/hotel credit. Even though I booked a non-refundable room, I requested a refund when Qantas cancelled our flights to Italy due to Covid-19. The Hotel promptly replied and said I could have a credit or a refund. Initially I accepted a credit because I hoped the pandemic would resolve quickly but when it became apparent that the credit would expire before I could travel (as Australia is predicting international tourism will not return to normal until 2023), I wrote again & viola by the next morning I received a very courteous email saying that a refund was on its way. Wow! What a contrast to a hotel in Florence who were very rude in their response and said they would not consider a refund until December 2020 as the hotel is allegedly closed until then. I very much hope to stay at Hotel Canada one day...praying for a vaccine

The subway/railway line runs between Fluminco airport and Rome Termini Station (main train station). From there it is about a 3 block walk to the hotel.

Da Vinci Express is ~€12 per person then you are about 5 blocks away and will need subway passes or a taxi. Don't haul your bags like we did. Subway has options and will drop you off in view of the hotel but it takes 4 passes, taxi is about €10-15. The concierge offered us a limo for €75, but tip may be expected. For the simplicity, I'd probably go taxi/limo with 4.
