We absolutely lucked into this place. We made somewhat last minute reservations to go down to Belize and we are so lucky to have found this place. There are not very many rooms total (only 4 in the main building on the water) and maybe 8-9 overall. It seemed like everyone knew our name from the moment we arrived and were treated like royalty with each interaction.
The location is wonderful (just about 2 miles north of the bridge into town) and we walked it once in less than an hour, most of which was walking along the waterfront. San Pedro is pretty hustle and bustle but, this is the picture of serenity. The food was fantastic! Breakfast burritos (sounds simple but, these were 5-star), fryjacks with pineapple jam, ceviche, etc. All of it was simply delicious and not very expensive at all. Belize has to be one of the least expensive places to visit. Also, don't forget about happy hour (both here and along the water at different places).
Linda (bartender and caretaker extraordinaire ) made is feel like family. I will definitely book here again.

The staff at BV Resort were amazing. You can’t ask for better. Top notch service and they went out of their way to make our stay as great as possible. We were able to check into our room extremely early when we thought we would just be dropping off our bags. They were very attentive, friendly, and accommodating. You will still feel like you’re in Belize here versus some of the larger resorts. The grounds are gorgeous and tucked back in to the shore. 10/10 recommend taking the kayak out to the reef, tie it up to a buoy, and have a gorgeous reef to explore/snorkel and clear shallow water to swim in all by yourselves.

Liked · The Bella Vista staff is superb, probably the most accommodating group of dedicated employees we’ve had the pleasure to meet in a long time. The grounds are pleasant and the on-site restaurant, Aji’s, is fantastic. Whether for breakfast or dinner, the quality and presentation of our meals —and the service— were excellent.
Bicycles are available at no charge, but the only road on the north of the Caye has no sidewalk or bike path. You share the road the lots of gas-powered golf carts and the occasional minivan and dump truck. And the roadway is not in good condition.
While access to the beach is blocked by a significant amount of what looks like seaweed, there's a very pleasant walkway that parallels the beach. Heading north the walkway is not very long. But going south one can walk for over a mile, passing lovely private homes and highrise condos. Some of the beach areas are maintained by the condos or timeshares, making the water accessible.
Disliked · There are several apartments located in what appears a modern building next to the pool and Aji's restaurant. Our accommodations, “Barracuda,” were located closer to the main road and connected to the rest of the property by a bridge of a mangrove swamp. We enjoyed watching the many birds and (huge) iguanas! We wanted privacy and quiet, which we enjoyed.
Our suite, which included a kitchen, was adequate but in need of updating. From the outside, it appeared that other guest rooms have been updated with fresh paint and new windows. Hopefully, the updates will continue.

This is a gem of a hotel with a great location (15 mins north of San Pedro town), right on the beach and the staff really makes you feel at home with their warmth and help with anything you need from booking a golf cart to an excursion on the island. The plus is the Aji restaurant that it is attached to. You don't have to go far for an amazing meal. Zamir was a rock star! We can't wait to come back to this amazing place and would highly recommend.A very different experience from a big chain hotel so if you want the bells and whistles of that comes with that kind of hotel, this if not the hotel for you.

Stayed 6 days at Bella Vista. Quaint smaller style resort with beach front restaurant. Small friendly staff with great service. Complimentary bikes and kayaks and was able to rent a golf cart and fishing/snorkeling tour. Speared lobster and caught a hog fish and snapper. They took us to cay caulker and we had our lobsters cooked at a local beach side grill. The rest of our catch the Aji prepared for us which was amazing. Complimentary breakfast. You can’t beat the ambiance of the beachfront restaurant! Snorkeling Hol Chan and shark ray alley is a must! Much more personable than a big resort. Definitely recommend!

We want to thank everyone that works there, everyone was so nice and helpful. People who really need a special thank you are Zamir he helped us so much with the booking and even made our plane reservation from Belize City to San Pedro, Boney was also a big help. Linda who took very good care of us for breakfast and was such a joy to talk with first thing in the morning. She made sure my coffee cup never ran out. Pablo, for giving us such good service for dinner and reserving our table. I believe this is probably the best restaurant in San Pedro, people staying in town make the 2,5 mile ride there to eat.I would also like to mention Manner and Bella did a great job in the restaurant . The Kitchen staff Julio and Letty did a great job on preparing all of the food. The one and only house keeping person, Angie cleaned our room every other day and changed our sheets on the bed and made sure we had plenty of clean towels. Aner took us on a sunset cruise for our birthdays celebration. We were pleasantly surprised our appetizers consisted of conch ceviche, bacon wrapped dates with pineapple. To drink we had sangria and plenty of beer. The grounds keepers Alvaro and Alfonso keep the place looking very nice. Last but not lease the owners Mike and Sandy, very nice people and they take good care of the staff working there. Everyone had nothing but, nice things to say about them. We would recommend this place. We will stay there on our next trip to San Pedro. It was so hard to leave. We felt like we were leaving our Belizian Family.

My fiance Bob and I stayed at Bella Vista in March 2021 and loved it so much we came back and stayed there again in January 2023. The staff here is amazing. They are so welcoming and kind. The vibe here is very chill and relaxing. Manny, Zamir, Linda, Suzie, Pablo, Honor...I'm sure I'm missing some - we loved everyone. The first time we stayed, was during Covid so there was a curfew and masks were required everywhere. Since then, all the restrictions have been lifted. You come and go as you please - walk around barefoot, and relax!!! The Baracuda house we stayed in was very spacious. Had a living room, kitchen and bedroom. All the cabinets were stocked with plates, cups, etc. The bathroom had a blow dryer. Pretty much everything you need to live there. We went parasailing, which I was terrified of, but ended up loving it. We also went out on the kayaks, which is free to guests. We didn't make it out very far, mostly because we are out of shape, but enjoyed it anyway. We went out on an all day trip with Honor and his son. We swam with sharks, snorkeled, went fishing and visited Caye Caulker. We like to drink, so we would go to dinner at Aji, listen to their live music and enjoy drinks at the bar. Few tips: Don't get a golf cart by the airport, Bella Vista will pick you up and you can rent a golf cart from them. It's much cheaper than all the places by the airport. Get the package where breakfast is included. I seriously CRAVE their homemade hot sauce. I'm pretty sure Bob would drink it if he could. Bring your sunscreen or you can use the ones they have available at the bar. Bring cash to tip. Look up and around while walking to your room at night, you'll see all kinds of little lizards. If you feel like heading out, check out Secret Beach. Pur and the Truck Stop. We are currently planning our next trip and will be staying at Bella Vista again. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.

My husband and I stayed at Bella Vista for 9 nights right after the reopened in late September for our 5 year anniversary. The staff was so friendly and welcoming from the minute we showed up. We immediately felt at home and loved our Casita near the pool. Zamir, Pablo, Enrique, Manny, Julio, Honor, Kevin and all of the staff were just amazing. They became our friends from day one and we had so many laughs and memories with them! The food and drinks at Aji are awesome and they're so accommodating. Housekeeping was so sweet, they made up our room special for our anniversary, it was so thoughtful. Also, Pablo and Enrique made us a surprise romantic table on the beach one night to celebrate as well. They all just go above and beyond for their guests and it really shows. We went on a fishing excursion with Honor and Kevin and had an absolute blast. They knew all of the good fishing spots and everything we caught they prepared for us fresh to eat right there at Aji, straight from ocean to table, it doesn’t get much better or fresher than that!! We CANT WAIT to go back!!! Thank you Bella Vista and Aji staff for everything!! The best vacation ❤️❤️❤️

We were in the Crocodile Suite which was spacious and clean. The deck overlooking the pool to the ocean was lovely. There is a great outdoor shower that we used every day (there is an indoor one also but we never used it). The location is between town and the turn to secret beach which was perfect. With our golf cart we went all over the island. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful with all our questions. It was quiet in the morning and evenings. Our husbands fished off the dock and we kayaked out to the reef to snorkel. We could run along the coast in the morning. If you really want to cook a lot of meals in the kitchen you might want a few more cups and glasses and kitchen utensils. The food was so good everywhere that we used the kitchen far less than we thought we would. We felt right at home and part of the family while being spoiled.

We stayed at Bella Vista for 1 week at end of Nov 2022 and had a fabulous time. The resort is very well maintained and beautiful and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Reef Shark room, which has the best ocean view in the resort. We are an active couple and did almost every excursion offered - snorkeling Hol Chan and Shark + Ray alley, toured Mayan ruins + zip lining through the jungle + tubing down a jungle river through enormous caves, scuba diving, and fishing. All the activities were spectacular with very friendly and knowledgeable guides. On our fishing trip we caught 5 lobsters with a spear and the hotel restaurant cooked them for us for dinner! The rest of the food at the Aji restaurant is also terrific and reasonably priced.
Compared to Mexico and many other places in the Caribbean, Belize is relatively affordable and in good shape, and they have the largest (and probably healthiest) coral reef in the Western Hemisphere - definitely an essential destination if you are a snorkeler or diver.
