Stayed in Bertran for four nights in May 2011. Have to say it was a very positive experience. Rooms are spacious, not sure if they are really 45 square meters but there is plenty of space for sleeping quarter, decently equipped kitchen and nice sofa and armchair. My room also had a great balcony with patio furniture. Regarding the kitchen the only thing it lacked in my opinion was the microwave. The room was very clean and serviced daily. Both internet (free and wirless) as well AC worked fine. No complaints about the bathroom/shower. The guys at the front desk where very friendly and helpful. Lots of collateral like maps, brochures available. I did not try the breakfast as I considered 9 euros for continental breakfast too expensive, but should you wish to have it they will deliver it to your room. In the room there are also couple of menus from nearby restaurants, you can call them to order in or ask the front desk to do it for you. The hotel has a small rooftop terrace with a pool. Now – about the location. The hotel is not in the center but has an excellent and quick access to it.. You will reach the metro station in five minutes no matter how slowly you walk.
From there on its a ten minute ride to the Catalunya square. If you plane to use one of the hop on hop off tours they also have a stop nearby, right next to the metro station. I saw a number of restaurants and deli shops in the neighborhood as well as a small supermarket. If you do not mind a short metro ride to the center and appreciate extra space and privacy for a very decent price Bertran is a great choice.

I was lucky enough to stay here last week for 3 nights. The room was clean and spacious with a balcony. Although there was a nice kitchen area there wasn't really much equipment available for us to cook with (and no kettle!) but I'm sure they would have lent us some should we have asked as they did provide us with an iron promptly. Word of warning, don't arrive too late if possible (unless you get a direct taxi) as we got a bit lost trying to find the hotel and which metro station to get off at. The hotel is hidden down one of the smaller roads so isn't in an obvious place. I'd definitely stay her again though, a wonderful visit.

Stayed here for 6 nights in early september and paid 69 euros a night (!) through Venere.com. I honestly don't think I could have found a better deal in Barcelona. I got a spacious apartment with 2 singles, a kitchen (including a refrigerator!), bath tub, sofa, dinner table and a private balcony. Also, the air-conditioning works fine and everything was spotless (daily maid service). Yes, the interior is a bit outdated (think 70's style Costa Brava) and it's a little worn here and there, but nothing serious and the beds are fine.

The hotel seemed nearly deserted when I was there and I had the rooftop pool to myself a few times. Good thing, too, as it is very tiny. About 4 by 5 metres and 1 metre in depth. It's ok to cool off in, but don't expect to do any serious swimming here.

Using the Vallarca metro stop (line 3) means you'll have to climb a few pretty steep hills before reching the hotel. Not cool if you're carrying a heavy bag in hot weather after a flight. Luckily the receptionist mentioned Avinguda Tibidaba (line 7, goes directly to Placa Catalunya as well). The distance to the hotel is about the same (about 400 metres I'd say), but it's flat. So look up that one before coming to the hotel. I highly recommend the place.

Had an appartement. Very nice standard with a small kitchen. You can see the pics put out by people here. They don´t lie. Clean and cleaning every day.
Nice with the pool at the top. Though unfortunately it is very small. Nice bathroom, nice shower and water pressure. Always warm water.

The walls are a bit thin. If there is a party in the next room you will definitely hear it.

Breakfast served in the room and you can choose what time you want it served (No restaurant at this hotel) Croissant, bun, donut, butter, marmelades. Unfortunately you have to choose between youghurt/serial or ham/cheese. You don´get both. And one cold drink and one hot. But you can buy yourself additional stuff and add as you have a kitchen area and fridge.

Staff was helpful and nice, they didn't´t go out of their way to service you, but just ask and they will help in a nice fashion.

No balcony in my room (103) But window you could open towards the street on the side of the hotel entrance.

I got transported by bus from airport directly to the hotel as part of my package trip through my travel agency. It can be a bit difficult to fint the hotel. If you arrive late at night I would not go by train/metro. But I am horrible with directions generally.

Not much to do in the immediate area, but Metro 3 minutes to walk away. 10 minutes ride to Barcelona city. There is a pizza restaurant and two small convenient stores extremely close to the hotel.

I recommend using the hop on-off buses in the city. 29 Euros for one day unlimited access on all three lines. Took the red line, 2 hours ride when you sit on the bus the whole round. You can get off the bus anywhere and back on a bus when you are ready to go back. There are new buses arriving at the stops like every 5 minutes. Fantastic!

Could definitely stay here again.

The Aparthotel Bertran has all the advantages of good hotel service plus the convenience of an apartment rental with 24-hour reception service, roof-top terrace with pool and rooms with plenty of space for relaxing in front of the TV or eating around the table. The hotel is in a quiet area near to the Metro station with a mini-mart almost next door with plenty of fresh fruit and local vegetables , a friendly pharmacy a couple of doors down and many patisseries in the next block as well as a pizzaria nearby. The apartment was well-equipped for self-catering and it was no trouble to request a coffee-making machine. The hotel staff were very helpful and the cleaners friendly. This is a quiet area, so it makes for a relaxing holiday. The room where we stayed didn't have a balcony, but it had everything we wanted in terms of space, wifi and air-con. Probably not the place to be if you want to be in the centre of town, but since this is only a few minutes away by metro, you can experience the buzz of the nightlife and then travel home for a restful sleep and then a swim after breakfast. We will definitely be back.
