The Aparthotel Bertran has all the advantages of good hotel service plus the convenience of an apartment rental with 24-hour reception service, roof-top terrace with pool and rooms with plenty of space for relaxing in front of the TV or eating around the table. The hotel is in a quiet area near to the Metro station with a mini-mart almost next door with plenty of fresh fruit and local vegetables , a friendly pharmacy a couple of doors down and many patisseries in the next block as well as a pizzaria nearby. The apartment was well-equipped for self-catering and it was no trouble to request a coffee-making machine. The hotel staff were very helpful and the cleaners friendly. This is a quiet area, so it makes for a relaxing holiday. The room where we stayed didn't have a balcony, but it had everything we wanted in terms of space, wifi and air-con. Probably not the place to be if you want to be in the centre of town, but since this is only a few minutes away by metro, you can experience the buzz of the nightlife and then travel home for a restful sleep and then a swim after breakfast. We will definitely be back.

Well located apartment in a quiet area on the edge of the city, had no problems getting in and out of the City on the Metro from the nearby station Tibidabo. Pleasant, helpful night reception man gave us lots of useful info when we checked in around midnight, only had time for two nights but will return sometime in future

I cant comment highly enough on how good a job the hotels cleaner does on a daily basis!! I wasnt expecting the standard of the place to be too high if I am honest, but was pleasantly surprised during our stay.
We stayed in one of the top floor 'penthouses' as was described through our booking agent, and possibly the only bad comment I could make is that there wasnt a lift to any of the floors in the hotel.
The room had a nice varanda which was enclosed to keep it private, a small kitchen in the corner of the living room and a nice bathroom with a decent shower. The bedroom was spacious, although you actually walked into the bedroom through your apartments door, which wasnt the best for early morning arrivals or late night departures as the walls werent the thickest!!
Location wise, with the metro station I didnt think the hotel was situated too badly. If you came out of the station the wrong side, as has been said in earlier reviews, it can be a pain to find. However getting a T10 card and using the metro, you can be in many of this fantastic places top tourist attractions within 45 mins of leaving your hotel! We took a cab back from the port and town centre on a couple of nights and the fare was never over 15 Euros...
Perhaps another negative is the hotel staff that we encountered didnt speak the best English, however my Catalan is none existent, but I did find the couple of interactions i had beyond awkward!!
There were a number of facilities,such as a pool, which we were offered the use of but didnt take up as we just wanted to be out and about, but Im sure others would enjoy such facilities in their stay.
There is a little supermarket next door to the hotel which is reasonably priced compared to many of the shops in the city, but the hotel does offer a room service option (one which we didnt take up) and its not a bad walk to Park Guell although in places that walk can be rather hilly!!
All in all, despite the odd little negative, for the price and cleanliness alone I think its well worth considering staying here on a visit to Barcelona.
