Tapas but innovative, and so good. Their patatas bravas looks like a cupcake with butter cream frosting but tastes like the best version of this iconic dish I’ve had so far. Also get the albergines and cannellonis.

This is a great eatery. The food is delicious and the waiters are very friendly and helpful. It is not cheap but if you're not on a tight budget, fancy eating beyond set menus and are in the neighbourhood, be sure to check it out.

My family, friends and I have eaten at Hidalgo a number of times over the last 5 years and have always found the food and service to be excellent. On our most recent visit we had, de primero, aubergine tempura with honey, cod croquets, salmon salad and smashed eggs (huevos estrellados) with cod and then, de segundo, cod a la catalana (steamed on a bed of sautéed vegetables topped with an alioli foam) and the dorada al orno - baked sea bream with potatoes, tomatoes and onion. This was followed by a delicious thin, light apple tart, chocolate mousse and a very light crema catalana done as a foam rather than in the usual way as a sort of custard. The majority of the clientele are locals in the fairly upmarket neighborhood of Putxet where the restaurant is located (directly opposite the station on Balmes). The menu reflects this. It is also influenced by being over the road from the local food market.

We had a very unrushed pleasant evening. The waiter spoke little English but he was patient and we had no communication difficulties. The food was good. I recommend the pear cheese and rocket salad. An informal restaurant and I would go back there.

I was unfortunately disappointed by this restaurant. I chose the degustation menu; it was a bad decision. None of the meals was really to my taste. All were a bit complicated, and the quality of the products and the preparation were average for the best of them. The waiter didn't try to understand the problems, to apologize or to offer a coffee... better to order something simple or to find another restaurant...

We ended up here by chance and really enjoyed our lunch. The waiter brought out some meatballs for us to try and they were fabulous. We had patatas, croquette, and I had the pear and Brie salads. All were wonderful. Served with fresh warm bread. Husband had a steak sandwich that was delicious as well. All in all my favorite meal of our trip. Not touristy and waiter speaks no English.

We had a great dinner at Redtaurant Hidalgo. The black rice with stuffed squid was superb, just like the entrecot from Galicia. And dont forget the deserts the spuma de crema catalana was brilliant with a touch of maracuja underneath. When in this neighborhood I’ d surely return. Very kund service and very reasonably priced!

We went here on the strength of online reviews, but I have to say we weren't impressed and don't agree with the plaudits it has received. The restaurant is off the beaten track, so must rely on locals, but I think I'd rather head towards town to find something better. It started well enough, the pear and rocket salad was actually very good. However, for mains my wife had a mushroom risotto (a dish she is very familiar with), and she didn't like it at all. To make it worse, it came caked in a layer of cheese. I've never seen that before anywhere. I had the "pig and apple", which turned out to be a terrine of dark roask pork in gravy. It wasn't bad, but it came with no starch and the dish was unbalanced. The restaurant isn't very pretty, the chairs are plastic, and the service was anything but friendly - the waiter looked glum the whole time and had no enthusiasm for his job.

one of the best this part of town. tapas are generally top quality, bravas are special, and they generally have very interesting special dishes every day. service is good, the place itself is nothing special but who cares when the food is that good?

We had an excellent dinner at Hidalgo last night. All the food we saw around us looked great too. Reasonable prices as well. 4 of us ate and had 2 bottles of wine for about $25 each. The restaurant was clean and the waiters very friendly! Highly recommend Hidalgo!!

Being for the first time in Spain, and specifically in Barcelona, I decided to take the diner in a specific Spanish way. Soon I find out that going to a restaurant before 20:00 does not make sens: they just open! Hidalgo was a complete surprise: english language menue completed with explanations from staff. The starter called Tapas is must! Ask for it! Excellent Paella with sea fruits, rise and lemon. I fully recommend it! Try also the "bonito" fish!

We were on a day tour to Tarragona and Sitges, and arrived at Sitges in time for a late lunch. We asked our guide for a restaurant recommendation, and he suggested Restaurante Hidalgo. We had a delightful delicious lunch, served by a very friendly staff, and found out that this small restaurant has a Michelin rating - which is well-deserved. Highly recommended - seek it out1
