Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the centre, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theatre that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.

Gran de Gràcia is a shopping street that has been the center of the commercial district since Gracia was a separate city until 1897. It stretches from the western side of the Passeig de Gracia to Lesseps Square.

Beware of the heavy traffic, but otherwise this street is made for strolling to admire the amazing architecture with some good perspectives at intersections. Shop for a place to eat or drink.

I posted a recent review about the pick pocket/thievery problem in this city. It exists everywhere you go and you will be a victim, no matter how careful you think you are. I have traveled to most of the world's major cities and thought I was impossible to rob in broad daylight. Until I came here!!
But the size of crowds in all parts of the city is a problem too.
With docks for up to 12 cruise ships in the port, the crowding problem starts there. Obviously, with a big set of train stations and a good airport, getting to Barcelona couldn't be easier. That makes planning a trip easy until you realize everyone in all parts of the world has figured that out too.
The rebirth of the city that occurred leading up to the '92 Olympics is something to see and the historical points of interest are quite something. But let me say it one more time, the crowds in Barcelona make places like NY, London, Beijing or Hong Kong seem like ghost towns!!
Spain has a lot of nice places to see. Try Sevilla, San Sebastian, or even Madrid instead.

Gran de Gracia is a lovely street. It is one of the large boulevards of Barcelona, and is full of upmarket shops. They are actually nice and if you can afford it you can do some serious shopping here! On the other hand you can do some serious window shopping too, which will cost you absolutely nothing! The architecture of the buildings is beautiful and this would justify a walk up and down this street.

Cool area to walk around. Nice shopping area. Even though it's a bit classier than other parts I still found cool street art.

Barcelona is justifiably famous for its long boulevards such as Las Ramblas and Avinguda Diagonal ,Gran Via and Gran De Gracia was another cool boulevard we walked down on our resent holiday to Barcelona.
Not as long or wide as some of the more famous streets but none the less packed with great architecture, lots of shopping outlets and innumerable pubs,bars and restaurants.
The boulevard is popular with both locals and tourists alike,it has a good vibe about the area and is most definitely well worth checking out.

This is one of the classier places in Barcelona and if you are into expensive brands and shopping this is the area. The streets near the intersection of Diagonal and Gracia are wide and tree-lined and worth a visit even without the shopping. Further north of Diagonal Gracia narrows and passes through an older area of Gracia also worth some time to visit.

If you want to do some shopping it's a lot better to go inside La Vila de Gracia, just get lost in the little streets and discover its pleasures.

Gracia district main street, plenty of shops and restaurants. Park at the end of Passeig de Gracia and walk along the street.

Except maybe in your price range.....
A continuation of the Passeig de Gracia but perhaps a little more accessible to the average shopper. Many interesting specialty stores and restaurants lead all the way to the top of Barcelona.
