The area
Neighbourhood: Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the centre, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theatre that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.

There are many lovely and charming neighborhoods in BCN, and this one is my absolute favorite because it is so lively, especially at night when the many cafes and bars are crowded, mostly with youth. Many narrow streets to explore and a few big squares. You can find international food here.

This is the place to go in BCN for authentic atmosphere, lots of narrow streets full of cool bars and restaurants. Lots of young people hanging out. This is where I would live if I were a native.

We were actually staying in this area and whilst it was lovely to be away from the hustle n bustle of central city life it didn’t have the atmosphere and village like feel that we were expecting.
Notwithstanding that it is full of small neighbourhood plazas with small restaurants and cafes.
We did a self guided walk around the area and were pleased to find some great examples of Modernist architecture

Gracia has been my favourite part of Barcelona for many years and I still find it delightful. A part of Barcelona that kept its character of a charming village and offers a welcomed break after the noise and crowds in more touristy spots across the city.

There is a bohemian vibe here. We walked through the neighborhood on our way back from Park Guell to our hotel at Las Ramblas, so we got to experience a bit of the neighborhood. There are lots of family owned markets and stores, and cafes and coffee shops here. Would not be my favorite place to live, but it is cute.

Barri de Gracia is a well-known area built in the 19th century. At first it was an independent city, but in 1897 it became part of Barcelona. Narrow streets with small squares and low houses remind of the age of Barry de Gracia. There are many beautiful buildings around the area.

This is a nice neighborhood — mostly upper middle class — which has some tourist sites, galleries, boutiques, restaurants etc. It is clean and mostly safe. But I feel that is it is not the primary destination of tourist coming to Barcelona. That would be the Gothic Quarter, El Born, Montjuic even Eixample. But it is just OK.

Nice pace to stroll about for half and hour or so. This place gives the neighborhood Spanish charm. Not touristy at all. But I also saw several graffitis ‘Tourist go home’ sprayed on the walls.
Anyway, I didn’t feel unsafe unlike the horrific El Post.

A less crowded neighborhood, so better for those who like to escape the confusion, but still a very pretty neighbor, I advise you to go to plaza del sol for a drink

Barri de Gracia is a really fun area to explore, with wonderful Moderne architecture scattered along the streets, along with a very pleasant local neighbourhood vibe. Nothing particularly touristy about it - just people going about their business in a really lovely place.
