I have visited Somodo a few times in the last 7 years and it has always been a joyful experience. Their service and food are both impecable, their menu is dynamic and I guarantee that they will always have something new for you to try. They cook seassonal food using locally source ingredients of the best quality, their wine menu is thorough and the decoration is elegantly subtle. this restaurant is a must and do not give it a miss! You will not regret it!

It's barely six weeks since the restaurant has just moved into its new premises at 4 Passatge Batlló on the left of Eixample, and as we were passing through Barcelona we went once again, like a pilgrimage, to this exceptional restaurant. This time the formula has changed. A maximum of 8 people can be accommodated in the restaurant and all are at the counter where chef Toshi Suzuki is alone in front of you to cook and serve a unique menu as usual. We have always been captivated and surprised by the excellence of his cuisine, the balance of flavors and his creativity, but I must say that if we were once again surprised by the talent of the chef and the quality of his culinary proposals which are worthy of the best gourmet restaurants, it should be noted that there is also a significant factor in this new place which is the intimacy that is created with the chef and the feast for the eyes in seeing him prepare his exceptional menu in front of us. The cooking is perfect, the sauces unique and the desserts refined. Always a subtle marriage of Mediterranean and Japanese gastronomy. Don't hesitate to take the plunge into this place dedicated to the cult of flavors, you won't regret it! On the other hand, you will have to book in advance because the place can only accommodate a very limited number of lucky people... Enjoy your tasting!

We had been loyal customers at Somodo since 2010 and were sad when the Gracia restaurant closed, so this was our first visit to the new restaurant in Eixample and what a place this is. A different experience and setting to the previous but at a higher level. In my opinion it is such good value and stupendous experience. The food excellent and the chef charismatic in a low key way, so that sitting at a bar watching the cooking becomes an intimate experience.

Great experience. Six dinners all at the bar overlooking the kitchen, watching the chef work his magic. Saturday night, 8 courses, part Japanese, part Catalan. Interesting flavors, some fish, some poultry, even some jamon. Plus, the price was reasonable, especially given the quality and creativity of the dishes. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend the lunch at Somodo. It is a great value with delicious appetizer, main and dessert. Their lunch menu is a set, with one appetizer, a soup, a main with choices of meat or fish and dessert, plus a drink. The appetizer I had was salmon croquet, nicely plated. Crunchy crust with flavorful salmon paste. A great starter. Then, I had eggplant soup with salted ham. Nice and warm for a chilly autumn day. The eggplant is roasted and grinder into the soup with a smoked flavor in it. The salted ham gave a fuller taste of the soup. I chose pork belly for main, and it was absolutely a wonderful choice. The pork is well seasoned in the special soy sauce, and the crunchy garlic flakes were a perfect match with the pork. The meat is very tender, and the proportion of fat is just right amount. For those who are looking for healthier main, I would recommend fish as the fat in the pork could get a bit greasy. I had a cheesecake-ish dessert, drizzled with fresh green apple slices and roasted hazelnuts. Refreshing and creamy. Before you go, make sure to get a reservation by phone as this restaurant gets quite crowded during lunch time.

Eat here with my son and grandson. What an experience, it was truly one of those special meals, art in the making. Seven courses, one better than the next. Friendly staff. It's worked out at 50 euros a man, including wine and water, safely say the same meal in Dublin, London,Paris would cost a minimum 100 euros a head. Amazing, we will be back.

Both food and service excellent. Had a really good time there, we took the ‘somodó’ menu: ratio price|quality very good! We would definitely repeat

We were a group of nine who shared the special menu on St. Stephen's Day. Three of our group were vegetarians. The staff and chef did so much to make our dining experience special. The vegetarian dishes looked very similar to the meat, fish dishes and tasted great. The galet stuffed with eggplant puree had an interesting smokey flavor. Excellent! The miso salmon was also terrific, cooked perfectly. We sat upstairs and can't thank the wait staff enough for treating us so warmly and making us comfortable.

That was the best dinner I had during my trip in Barcelona. Well balanced, short menu and full of emotions clever made food. I chose fish menu and every new dish came up was a perfect continue of previous. Amazing deserts and perfect service. That’s what you are looking for from your favorite restaurant.

At entry, the place is very unassuming, and the pictures in the reviews appear like petite portions that understates the unending stream of incredibly plated, finely crafted dishes in a prix fixe menu, along with the attention of the chef (who personally served us). Definitely my favorite place in Barcelona, and highly recommended.

Gorgeous little restaurant in an interesting local feeling part of Barcelona. Service was informally formal and very welcoming. English very good. Menu and wine explained very well. Food sensational, very interesting, perfectly cooked and the balance was just right in every way. A delightfully frank and modern food experience in a very pleasant atmosphere.

Somodò is a small restaurant with a very clear identity: it's focused on putting an asiatic twist on traditional catalan ingredients, creating something interesting and modern. The place is small and the decor doesn't match the contemporary vibe of the culinary offering, but don't be fooled: the people in the kitchen are not afraid of experimenting, the quality of the cuisine is top notch and the restaurant is definitely worth a visit. We went with the degustation menu and were very happy we did.

Gracia
Gracia literally stands out from the pack. It used to be an independent town until late into the 19th century. Though it’s just a short commute away from the centre, a visit here feels like you’re in a whole different city. The bohemian vibe has drawn many international artists to this area, resulting in a wide selection of galleries, live music and artsy boutique stores. The nightlife is centered around the vibrant Gracia’s plaças, where young and old gather to enjoy a drink outside. Carrer de Verdi, its main street, offers affordable restaurants and a movie theatre that screens new as well as classic films in their original language. However Gracia's greatest treasure lies just up the hill at Guell Park, where Antoni Gaudi's vibrant and revolutionary art sculptures stand atop unequaled views of Barcelona.
