What travelers are saying
- Ms30Canada35 contributionsWe weren't sure what to expect specifically, but so glad we went.
Our family learned a lot about the history and got to play in the interactive portion of the museum.
The displays and machinary were impressive. Overall, we recommend it!Written July 11, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We can only walk around the compound of the castle. It is nice but of course not as interesting as those castles which you can enter. There is a photo booth which a photographer will take 3 photos of you and you get to choose 1. A small photo is free while a bigger version costs JPY 1,200.Written May 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Hamlet JOrlando, FL4 contributionsBreath-taking place so much to see! Make sure to know the schedule so you know where to go at what time so you don’t miss something you’d like to see
Beluga training and Dolphins was the best, you can get really close to them and they’re so cute!
There is a mini mall with food court next building l, prices are reasonable. Best is, their place is really near train station. They also have several parking spaces if you bring your car.Written July 13, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We spent around an hour+ here touring the old trains to the current Shinkansen, playing with simulators and learning how the modern high-speed rails can travel at such fast speed. There are plenty of seats around so visitors can take their breather if required. Worth it if you could slot it into your itinerary!Written May 27, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- geo3Calgary, Canada1,598 contributionsSuch a great variety of shops! Some good bakeries (which I ended up patronizing) and great eating places, plus almost everything you could think of for sale. There aren't many chain stores, which was one of the things that made this area so interesting.
I normally don't like shopping, but this was interesting and fun.
Easy to get to from the Osukan subway station.Written July 30, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. They had like 4 different prices depending on what you want to do (simple visit to the permanent exhibition, planetarium, and other two prices with special activities)
I was surprise that my teen daughter (13 years old) was free to enter. We got the tickets that includes the planetarium. It costs 800yen for adults. If you go with a senior, I think you also have discounts. Ask anyways!
The planetarium is nice. We didn’t understand anything because it was in Japanese but it’s well done. The voice of the lady explaining everything was like a white noise. The temperature was perfect, the chairs are like business class airplane seats and they also turn about 40 degrees to the sides. We saw a lot of people sleeping there! It was relaxing. Don’t take little kids there.
The planetarium part lasts about 40 to 50mim.
The permanent exhibition was also nice. We spent around 3 hours in the museum THINGS I WISH THEY HAVE:
- I know that what they said in the planetarium changes depending on the time and dates, but it would be nice to have not a translation (because that would be imposible) but at least general information with some subtitles. They lady in the ticket did mention tho, that there is not translation. It was a relaxing time anyways. We went in January so it was very cold outside and very cozy in the planetarium.
- I think the permanente exhibition could easily have translation at least in English. This exhibition doesn’t change in years and it would benefit even international students studying in nagoya.Written July 10, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - fionayyyHong Kong, China221 contributionsis bigger than expected, with different things like books, swords, clothing, not all have English explanations, though. - ChloeTaySingapore, Singapore133 contributionsWe stayed in Sakae for 3 nights. There are 3 underground shopping streets that are connected by Sakae subway. Two major shopping malls are close by as well. Oasis21 is just 10 mins walk from our hotel. There are many restaurants in Sakae.Written November 7, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

With expectations in check, this is an excellent little aquarium, with a big focus on education about the sea, pollution, and sea life.
They sell activity packs for just 500yen (in Japanese or English), which added a lot to the experience.
Among the exhibits were some amazing seahorses, clown fish, and moray eels. Sea Life Nagoya is tied to Legoland, so it was also full of Lego models which made it even more interesting.
It took around half an hour to go through the aquarium, and then a while was spent in the final area where you can color in sea creatures and then watch them come to life on the wall, which was fun.
Finally, there is a gift shop, which you can only enter from the aquarium, which sells Sea Life souvenirs, animal toys, and some Lego sets, so be sure to look around and not miss anything before you leave.
It is well worth getting the combination ticket of Legoland and Sea Life Nagoya.Written September 5, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Whether you are taking the Shinkansen, metro or bus, you will not miss this place.
There are departmental stores like Takashimaya and Tokyu Hands that each covers several floors where you can shop until drop, among others. Also have lots of eateries, cafes, restaurants all around, and on the 12 and 13 floor too where you can have a good bird eye's view of the city.
Of course, convenience stores and souvenirs shops are around too. And if you walk further out, there's a Disney store and also more underground shopping street where shops selling fashion, shoes, bags and lifestyle products etc are located.
It's so convenient and accessible to move around and sometimes easy to get "lost" as there are so many entrances and exits and all look quite similar. LOL. So good to "recognize" some key shops or landmarks!
And the place is full of people all day long as people meet their friends here!Written January 17, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Yamazaki Mazak is one of the most well-known machine tool manufacturers of Japan.
Paintings, furniture, household decorative arts from European countries, especially France, are the main items of its collection.
It takes about one full hour to enjoy the whole museum. Photography of regular exhibits is allowed here. A nice cafe is on the ground floor near the museum's information corner.
Written August 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There is little in English but the staff are helpful and things are relatively easy to figure out. The tourist class bunks are much like a capsule hotel and better than the tatami mat rooms. If you have family recommend getting a private room. Now on to the food. Overpriced and low quality. Breakfast and lunch are ¥1000 and dinner is ¥2000. Choices are mostly low-grade Japanese. If you can survive on the salad bar with only shredded cabbage and one choice of dressing you’re okay. Bring your own food!Written November 21, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
