We weren't sure what to expect specifically, but so glad we went.
Our family learned a lot about the history and got to play in the interactive portion of the museum.
The displays and machinary were impressive. Overall, we recommend it!

I am slightly disappointed to know the castle is closed. Yes, you cannot enter the castle. We can only walk around the compound of the castle. It is nice but of course not as interesting as those castles which you can enter. There is a photo booth which a photographer will take 3 photos of you and you get to choose 1. A small photo is free while a bigger version costs JPY 1,200.

Breath-taking place so much to see! Make sure to know the schedule so you know where to go at what time so you don’t miss something you’d like to see
Beluga training and Dolphins was the best, you can get really close to them and they’re so cute!
There is a mini mall with food court next building l, prices are reasonable. Best is, their place is really near train station. They also have several parking spaces if you bring your car.

This railway museum is slightly away from Nagoya central/station but accessible via Aonami line. We spent around an hour+ here touring the old trains to the current Shinkansen, playing with simulators and learning how the modern high-speed rails can travel at such fast speed. There are plenty of seats around so visitors can take their breather if required. Worth it if you could slot it into your itinerary!

Such a great variety of shops! Some good bakeries (which I ended up patronizing) and great eating places, plus almost everything you could think of for sale. There aren't many chain stores, which was one of the things that made this area so interesting.

I normally don't like shopping, but this was interesting and fun.

Easy to get to from the Osukan subway station.

The park is big and I have to admit that I have seen one of the biggest animals a zoo could have! All of them are so big in size!

We went with our teen child (13 y/o) and the entrance for her was free, which it was unexpected.
They had like 4 different prices depending on what you want to do (simple visit to the permanent exhibition, planetarium, and other two prices with special activities)
I was surprise that my teen daughter (13 years old) was free to enter. We got the tickets that includes the planetarium. It costs 800yen for adults. If you go with a senior, I think you also have discounts. Ask anyways!

The planetarium is nice. We didn’t understand anything because it was in Japanese but it’s well done. The voice of the lady explaining everything was like a white noise. The temperature was perfect, the chairs are like business class airplane seats and they also turn about 40 degrees to the sides. We saw a lot of people sleeping there! It was relaxing. Don’t take little kids there.
The planetarium part lasts about 40 to 50mim.
The permanent exhibition was also nice. We spent around 3 hours in the museum THINGS I WISH THEY HAVE:
    - I know that what they said in the planetarium changes depending on the time and dates, but it would be nice to have not a translation (because that would be imposible) but at least general information with some subtitles. They lady in the ticket did mention tho, that there is not translation. It was a relaxing time anyways. We went in January so it was very cold outside and very cozy in the planetarium.
    - I think the permanente exhibition could easily have translation at least in English. This exhibition doesn’t change in years and it would benefit even international students studying in nagoya.

is bigger than expected, with different things like books, swords, clothing, not all have English explanations, though. Quite informative, can get a set ticket with the garden.

We stayed in Sakae for 3 nights. There are 3 underground shopping streets that are connected by Sakae subway. Two major shopping malls are close by as well. Oasis21 is just 10 mins walk from our hotel. There are many restaurants in Sakae.

It is a place where you can enjoy a sense of open-air in the center of Nagoya.
On sunny days, look at the beautiful ripples projected on the buildings.

One of the icons of Nagoya city. The tower resembles the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It is no surprise considering the fact that Nagoya is a sister city of Paris. It is not very tall but gives you a pretty good view over Nagoya city. In the nights, it shines in various colors and allows you to take beautiful pictures with the background of Sakae downtown.

Cherry blossoms are beautiful all day long. Twilight walk on the riverside of Yamazaki river is recommended.

The place can get rather crowded during the cherry blossom period, however the lively atmosphere along with numerous food stalls makes it an enjoyable experience.
