Travelling through amazing scenery in the mountains to the north of Nagoya was in itself a treat. The stops at Gujo Hachiman, Takayama and Shirakawa-go were relaxed and enjoyable. The guide was very good, and the bus driver did an amazing job navigating a detour from the expressway. Excellent value for money. - deechoy63Singapore, Singapore109 contributionsTomoko is a fantastic guide. She met us punctually at the agreed meeting point with a sign, clearly printed with our names. We needed to purchase train tickets to Takayama but found it confusing, she immediately volunteered to help us. She’s very friendly and we can tell right away she genuinely likes people and love being a guide. She took us to all the sights as agreed and though the weather was hot, she was constantly thoughtful to ensure we walked in the shade and she also brought us ice cold hydrating drinks in her backpack. She’s very knowledgeable and taught us much about Nagoya, Japanese culture and even introduced all the specialty foods to us. We are so grateful for the wonderful day we spent with Tomoko. We travel all over the world and can say she’s one the best guides we’ve ever had. - Mitchell HCoral Gables, FL1 contributionWe joined Becki and Shawn on a wonderful 14 night/15 day small group (4 other guests) tour of Japan. Although we are experienced travelers and usually travel on our own, we were very glad that we joined Becki and Shawn. They did a fantastic job at every step of the process, including vetting the group members for compatibility; briefing us on Japanese culture, history and etiquette; developing an itinerary that covered Japan’s cultural and culinary highlights; booking us in beautiful accommodations; and, taking us to great restaurants. Becki and Shawn are steeped in Japanese culture and managed to provide us with multiple experiences that we simply could not have replicated on our own, including a two-hour dinner encounter with a full-fledged Geisha in Kyoto, a traditional tea ceremony and the Sumo wrestling championship in Tokyo. Beyond that, Becki and Shawn do everything possible to ensure that each of their guests has a smooth, enjoyable and meaningful trip. They shepherded us efficiently from site to site, packing in a lot of experiences, while giving us sufficient time to explore and enjoy each site. While we might have been able to tour Japan on our own, we would have had to spend twice as many days or see only half as much. And, had we done it on our own, we would have missed Becki and Shawn’s insightful commentary. Very simply, we heartily recommend Japan and More to anyone looking for a first-class, meaningful tour of Japan. The driver was also friendly and pretty good at driving. It was a safe trip. We could have tried some of these things on our own of course, but we definitely would have missed out on a lot by doing so. Little things like the service button at one restaurant, the different ways to eat the eel, the way you eat Nagoya noodles, and the hidden gem of a huge subterranean market with every snack and dessert imaginable.
