What travelers are saying
- fionayyyHong Kong, China221 contributionsis bigger than expected, with different things like books, swords, clothing, not all have English explanations, though. Quite informative, can get a set ticket with the garden.Written December 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChuzaaVancouver, Canada3,484 contributionsA small but very tastefully decorated art museum based on the collection by Mr. Teruyuki Yamazaki, the founder of Yamazaki Mazak corporation.
Yamazaki Mazak is one of the most well-known machine tool manufacturers of Japan.
Paintings, furniture, household decorative arts from European countries, especially France, are the main items of its collection.
It takes about one full hour to enjoy the whole museum. Photography of regular exhibits is allowed here. A nice cafe is on the ground floor near the museum's information corner.
Written August 2, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. But it has a modern hype and trendy design.
We were visiting the science museum, but it was closed (as it's Monday) and so we decided to come by for a visit but it was closed too! Most of the signages were in Japanese though. Admission fee was 700yen, considering very reasonable.
We walked around the place and quite like it because it's layout is straightforward and ergonomical!Written January 12, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It carries special exhibits and is on the 10th floor or the building in which it's located. Still, the exhibit was quite extensive and what a find to see almost 100 pieces on loan from The Hermitage, so be sure to check what this museum has to offer when you're in Nagoya. There is a subway station below the museum but I took a taxi both ways, which cost about $9 each way.Written September 27, 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HibouBrieselangBrieselang45 contributionsI didn't know about this place and my friends took me there telling me that I'll really like it and they were right :)
This is a wonderful display of Japanese tea culture and architecture.
The building looks wonderfully delicate and elegant and every detail in the construction seems to be carefully thought out and every material carefully selected from the stones used as a foundation to the glass for the window panes :)
This is a wonderful place to sit down and enjoy a cup of tea and enjoy the view of a Japanese garden :3
I can highly recommend visiting this place if you like tea, Japanese architecture and craftsmanship :)
If I could think of a place I would show someone to explain tea culture in Japan I'd show them this place :)Written February 24, 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Many of the pieces are adorned with beautifully crafted, detailed figures. I had never seen such detailed ceramic "bas relief" like this before. These figures are almost never passive. They are engaged in some type of action that is part of a story from Japanese folklore. Every piece has a fascinating story to tell. I was so impressed by that, and have never seen an exhibition like this anywhere else.Written February 3, 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
