The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center offers a vibrant and festive atmosphere that can be simultaneously enchanting and overwhelming, according to guests. While the hotel boasts a range of amenities, including diverse dining options, stunning atriums, and a water park, some travelers feel these are overpriced and have noted maintenance concerns. Opinions on the hotel's location are divided; it's great for events but not ideal for downtown excursions. The rooms often receive criticism for noise, cleanliness, and general upkeep. Service quality also varies, with reports of both friendly and unresponsive staff encounters.

We are staying at this hotel now and it is really very good but just falls short of being excellent.
The hotel is a huge resort and has some amazing features and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Nashville. It is located next to the Grand Ole Opry and a shopping mall but some distance from the main bars downtown. However, there is a regular hourly coach service that is decent value at $20 dollars a day.
The rooms are good with comfortable beds but strangely, very little storage space.
There is a big water park attached to the hotel that is partially closed in winter and therefore not really a good attraction.
A lot of the advertising talks about the infinity adults only pool that has its own bar. When we visited the bar had closed for the day, no idea why and this is unfortunately typical of how the hotel is operating.
There is only one place open for breakfast each day and a number of small coffee shops that all have very unappetising snacks and the slowest service I have ever seen.
There is an excellent sports bar with over 100 screens.
We spent one night in a small Irish bar but the music was stopped at 10pm and the food service had already been stopped before we arrived.
We expected to find music on everywhere in the hotel but it is very limited and the bars and restaurants all seem to be closed more than you would expect.
Anyway, we are enjoying the stay but are a bit bemused by these strange problems and rules that are affecting the quality of our stay and look simple to fix.

We took 6 of my sons classmates to the hotel and to SoundWaves to celebrate their 8th grade promotion. It was very nice. Having experienced the Opryland Hotel in the past, we knew what to expect, but the water park was a new experience for all of us. It is nice. Some things you might want to know. Towels are provided. There is food and beverage available and while a bit pricey, it was good quality. The park attractions are quite fun and there is something for all ages. There is an adult only area upstairs with a pool and bar. There are lounge chairs up there. On the main level there are plenty of comfortable chairs (not loungers) and little tables. There are lifts for those needing hep getting in and out of the pools. They have life jackets for little ones and those needed a bit of peace of mind. There are lockers to rent, but I felt my belongings were safe at my chair. I would consider water shoes. The concrete floor is textured and was a little rough on tender feet. You can also put your shoes on to walk between attractions. The main bathroom was the only one I went in but I noticed that it had showers for those needing to rinse off and change before leaving. The kids had a great time even though we were only able to use the indoor part because of the time of year. I am not into water parks, but I have to admit I like it too. I would go back.

The website describes SoundWaves as “your new happy place” and I would have to agree. We were very pleased with every aspect of our stay. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, and service was impeccable. My kids loved the indoor water attractions. The lifeguards and staff did a great job of sanitizing and enforcing Covid protocols. Overall, a great experience. We will be back.

I travel a bit and have stayed in quite a few hotels and resorts, but this resort truly blew my mind of how beautiful and large it is. Every person that worked there seemed to be very helpful and friendly; from house keeping in the hallways, the guy sweeping the lobby, the waiters in the restaurants, they were all first class service! I could not get over all the 'realms' (I've been calling it that since they do seem like different worlds!) and how lovely the place is. From the waterfalls, the light and water fountain show, the stores and different restaurants...

I downloaded the Gaylord app and have the Marriott Bonvoy app, so I not only didn't have to stand in line to check in, but had the mobile key on my phone, had the interactive digital map of the resort (where I could filter, sort, and check out menus of places beforehand) and order room service when it was getting late.

The rooms were spacious and I am thankful that I stayed in an exterior room so I wouldn't have to deal with the live music playing and crowds at night... I used that extra sink (outside of the bathroom) quite a bit and enjoyed that convenience as well.

This is definitely a resort you can just park yourself and enjoy; sure, you're paying for the convenience, but depending on your style of travel, it may be worth it. I agree this would not be for a family with young kids, other than the waterpark I don't know how else you'd keep them entertained. However, even with the waterpark, nothing smelled musty or too chlorine-y. Maybe a great destination for a bachelor/bachelorette party, since you wouldn't have to worry about driving home, but there's also enough space (with all the realms) to keep your distance if there's drama going on :P

The hotel is beautiful and well-organized. Great service and staff all around. They handled the large convention that I attended very well, moving people in and out quickly, etc. My critique is that all the restaurants seem to have pretty close to the same menu and the food is just so-so. The hamburger place was actually really good. The water park makes this a great hotel for kids and easy to walk over to Opryland for a tour or concert but all the other action is downtown so you either have to pay and wait for the hotel shuttle or opt to Uber back and forth a bunch as we did at about $30 round trip each time.

I was not prepared from the pictures just how massive and beautiful this resort/conference center really is! There are gardens and waterfalls with restaurants tucked in along the paths through the gardens. There is a river to take a boat ride and learn about the plants and history. Suzanne was our guide and shared a wealth of information during the ride.
There are five sections to this resort. It takes a while to find your way as there are upper and lower paths. All beautiful walks.
All the staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and professional.
We ate at Jack Daniels restaurant a couple times as we enjoyed the food and the people working there. JJ, the bartender, was friendly and fun. He made us laugh and feel very comfortable each time we we sat at the bar. Malcom was our server one night and then was also a bartender another night. We enjoyed talking with Malcom about many things. Very nice young man and so helpful.
We had and issue with our key one evening. The bell hop brought a new key with in minutes and the security guard followed up immediately. Since the Gaylord is so big, I figured it would be a long wait for a new key. It was less than a 5 minute wait from the time I contacted the front desk to delivery of a new key.
The security guard (I do not remember his name) was so helpful with information on navigating the hotel and the surrounding area. Hannah, at the Delta front desk, was very helpful when we let her know of a couple of minor issues with our room. She immediately took action and maintenance was repairing with in an hour. Hannah also sent a communication and gift for our inconvenience. Wow! We were very surprised by this thoughtful gesture.
Our rooms were wonderful. We had joining parlor and standard room. Each room had its benefits and was very comfortable.
We hope to return for a family fun vacation in the near future. There is what looks to be a very fun indoor waterpark and game room our grandchildren will enjoy.

The Gaylord Opryland is a lovely resort, however, it is extremely poorly planned. When we arrived for a conference, a young man who barely spoke English put us in a room at the opposite end of the resort from the convention center. It was 1.2 miles from our room to the conference center. Round trip, that is two and a half miles. I ended up walking over 6 miles the first day. We asked them to move us the second night, and they did.

The room they moved us to had a non- functioning toilet which they promptly fixed. I ended up walking over 6 miles the first day.
The day we were set to leave, there was a high school show choir completion and the lines to get a $4.00 lemonade were exceptionally long. I would, perhaps, make sure my conference planners were aware of this before they set up a conference since the atmosphere was like Disney World at Spring Break.

I will say that the staff was for the most part friendly and expeditious. This is the reason I gave them a 2 instead of a 1.

I would never return to the hotel unless I had rooms booked in the main cascade hall by the front desk due to the excessive walking paths that separate the different wings of the resort in a maze like manner. I got completely lost twice.

You need a golf cart to navigate this monstrosity.

The Gaylord Opryland is an amazing and most unique resort. It had been several years since we visited, yet the Resort continues to thrill us on any visit. Beware, with CoVid restriction lifted, the Resort was very busy so check-in can be a bit hectic. Valet parking made it easier and it is just a little more than self-parking. Our King Room was conveniently located in the Cascades, which is near front of the resort. The room offered fantastic views of the Cascades Atrium with its waterfalls, Falls Bar and scenic area. It can be a bit noisy with the waterfall and musicians but the sound is muffled by the French doors to the balcony. Our king room was very nice with a comfy lounge chair. We liked the two sinks – one in the bathroom and one outside.
This is a HUGE hotel. It has 2,888 rooms and covers 9 acres. We took one afternoon to acquaint ourselves with the hotel’s layout and the various atrium areas. There is the Cascades with its waterfalls, the Garden Conservatory with its plush gardens and gazebo, the Delta that has a waterway flowing through it (one can even take a boat ride), as well as, Delta Island with various eateries. The Magnolia has the grand staircase and was part of the original hotel. Plus there is a huge Convention Center. It is fun just strolling the areas and enjoying the awesome plants and many unique features of each atrium. We also liked strolling at night to see the awesome lighting.
The latest addition is the massive waterpark – SOUNDWAVES. It has adults and children thrilled with the variety of water activities from a lazy river to wave pool to surfing to many slides and even rock climbing.
We encourage guests to acquaint themselves with the hotel atriums and layout. It can be easy to get lost or confused in this massive resort. While they have several restaurants some were not open on our visit and many have converted to a buffet. Be sure to check on availability for dining. Due to other activities, we ate outside the resort except for dinner at FUSE. Luckily, there was space at the bar, eliminating a long wait.
Gaylord Opryland is a most unique resort! Visitors will be excited to experience this beautiful property.

Great for a day visit but not for an extended stay and would not stay at this hotel again. This resort style hotel has a lot to offer but one quickly learns it’s lipstick on a hog.

If one is staying here expect to pay additional for almost everything. Breakfast, lunch and dinner start at $22/per person for a lackluster buffet. There are numerous restaurants and shops but only 1/3 are open on any given day. The grounds, amenities and pools are beautiful and clean but if one wants to do more then walk around the hotel except to pay.

There is a $32 plus tax/per day parking fee, $55/per person per day for the waterpark, and $18 per person ticketed shuttle to downtown Nashville but it only ran on Friday/Saturday on the hour. There was a free shuttle that ran a loop to the nearby mall, Grand Old Opry and the steamboat tour (addition fee applies).

It’s worth a visit and if one does park at the mall and stay elsewhere your wallet will thank you.

So, I recently stayed here for a conference. The photos and videos online do not do this place justice. it is so immaculate. it is an oasis. I love almost everything about it. i circled through there about 5 times the first day just to get a since of direction because its that huge. The room was clean and spacious and we were near an exit close to the shuttle service. the opry mills mall and grand old opry house are in walking distance, about 10 minutes. getting an uber or using door dash service was so quick and easy. downtown is about 15 minutes away and going there and back was a breeze. we also used the shuttle to get to the mall when we didn't feel like walking. cracker barrel and waffle house are close by also. There are no microwaves in the room. Some of the food places in the hotel, particularly the breakfast buffet was over priced. The pizza there is the most reasonably priced and very good. I only had a few issues that you should be aware of. I was overcharged on the 25/day resort fee. I only stayed 4 nights and they charged me for 7 nights. I am waiting on the refund. On the bonvoy app, it asks you if you do or don't want daily room service. I opted for daily room service but the second and third day, no service. the third day I had to go do housekeeping to get them to come service the room. on the day of checkout housekeeping knocked on my door 3 times starting about 8am. each time i had to remind them check out is at 11am. I addressed all of this with management before leaving and thank them for their help. All that being said, I do plan to return for a personal vacation because its still worth it. Nashville is beautiful
