Room was paid for and we upgraded to a balcony room - so worth it!!

We were in the "C" section and it was so beautiful!! So enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching people and the beautiful surroundings while hubby was attending the convention during the day. Restaurants are kinda pricey-- it is a resort, but food was very good.

The Relache spa was soooo amazing!! Massage and facial are must haves, but skip the pedi as I can get for under $30 locally and same or better quality. This is probably because i have been going to the same salon for pedis since 2004 and they know me well. I am an 8 hr drive away and so want to revisit the spa! Yes, it is more pricey as is a resort, but was TOTALLY worth it!! Leaves me sad and longing for more.

Great experience all around, our fridge was not working at first and within 2 hrs they swapped it out with a working one! They take customer service/satisfaction very seriously. I cannot wait to go back!

My family and I stayed at this hotel for 7 nights. Part of our stay was prior to my husbands convention, so that one of my daughters could enjoy the fun of this hotel and Nashville prior to her gymnastics camp she was attending in Crossville. Although the place is HUGE, and I'm not kidding AT ALL (almost 3,000 rooms), it was beautiful and well maintained!

The room we were in was in the delta wing and was an accessible room as my middle daughter, who is 5, is in a power wheelchair. It had ample room for the 5 of us, out daughters medical equipment, and 7 nights worth of stuff. It had a gorgeous view if the atrium and the delta river.

Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable- I am a neat/clean freak and had zero problems here. Not in the room or on any part of the property.

Service/Entertainment: The staff was amazing. All were very courteous, and they went out of their way to help us understand all the Gaylord has to offer. The pool staff were awesome, and the magnolia pool had a ton of fun things for te kids to do: karaeoke, rock band on-stage, nightly "by the pool" movies.

Prices: The room price was probably a tad high, but at such a nice place, it wasn't outrageous! The food on property was a bit overpriced - more-so at the quick cafes than the restaurants. The restaurants were overpriced as well, but not quite like our premade turkey sandwich, small bag of chips and 20 oz. drink that was $12 before tax. At Fuse, a restaurat in property, I paid $12 for chicken quesadillas and $14 for a warm beef and cheddar sandwich with fries. The kids meals were $8 and included a drink. There is also a spa/salon, a daily scavenger hunt and more.

Overall, we had an amazing time at this hotel. The kids absolutely lived it, as did I. I can see it being a bit more "boring" if you were by yourself at a conference, but having our family there to enjoy it all - the indoor river, waterfalls, fish etc., as well as the other entertainment, it was super. We will certainly visit again.

After standing in a long line for check in, my name was not on the registration because someone else made them and my room mate had to walk a long distance to come to the desk which was difficult since she has a hard time walking.Brandon, manager on duty, went to find her because she had arrived prior and was not familiar on how to navigate such a large place. He was our Angel. He not only went and found her, brought her to the desk, got us into a restaurant and took my bags to my room. My friends checked or tried to check into their room. Their reservations were made in January for a handicapped room with 2 queen beds. They had a room with one king bed which was not handicapped. They did get a room which was the furthest away from our convention rooms. It made it very difficult for someone who has trouble walking and is using a walker. We went to the concierge to get tickets for the bus to go downtown, which were $20. You would think as much as you pay to stay there you wouldn't have to pay for a bus. Anyway, after standing in line for 20 min the concierge disappears never to return. Someone comes to help people with key problems. Still waiting. Finally someone comes that sells us bus tickets. We find out on the bus, The Wild Horse Salon is closed due to a block party. Shouldn't they have known that? The lines were always long for everything! There doesn't seem to be enough help. The room was nice and clean. My last night after coming back from downtown I was locked out of my room. I was not happy as it was late and I asked a cleaning person for help. They told me to use the phone as the front desk was closed. Someone did come and let me in. It was just another screw up . I don't plan on ever staying there again. Thanks Brandon for your help.My roommate checked in at 3:30 after calling, got her luggage at 10 pm.

This will be a bit of a long review only because we just returned from a 5 night stay and there is so much to share.
First of all, let's get this out of the way from the start. This is an expensive place to stay. It is a destination vacation for sure and the prices match that. The cost of the room is on par with a very nice hotel, but the food and drink prices may shock you if you haven't done your homework. BUT.... it is all what you are going for in a vacation. If you are looking for a beautiful spot with so much to see and do and you know going in the food/drinks will cost more than the average spot, then you know what you are signing up for. Having said all that... here is my review....
First of all, our room...WOW. We originally booked a king atrium view room and requested the Cascades area. We were supposed to go to the Caribbean this February but opted out due to the risk of getting stuck there. So having been to the Opryland Hotel before, we decided this would be a great alternative. The Cascades section has this beautiful, large waterfall and we could listen to it all night (not the ocean but not a bad substitute at all). Then there is the lush greenery all throughout the hotel. We never left the whole time we were there. No coats, flip flops when we wanted etc. So before arriving we upgraded to a suite. They added a deluxe murphy atrium parlor to our reservation. Holy Cow! The parlor was huge. We walked in and there was a door that I thought was a closet in the entry. NOPE! It was a small kitchen with a refrigerator, bar, sink and coffee maker. TIP: no microwave and the coffee maker is NOT a keurig. You cannot bring your own pods)
Then we walk into the living space. The windows go on for days with automatic blinds. There is a huge TV with an electric fireplace below the TV. The parlor had its own full bath and a murphy bed if you don't reserve the connecting king room. There is dining table that seats 6 and 2 large chairs and a sectional couch. Absolutely roomy and comfy. Then there was the king connecting room with yet another full bath, king bed, TV, coffee maker, smaller fridge and a sitting area with a couch looking out large windows to the atrium. (NOTE: I asked before we went if the windows opened because I normally would like a balcony-this room was on the 6th floor with no balcony-I was told all windows opened slightly which is not true. The parlor windows were screwed shut so they would not open. I was able to open the bedroom windows enough to get my needed waterfall sounds through the night-but, for the price we paid, it would have been nice to get accurate information on the windows so I could have made a choice about whether I wanted to stick with a balcony room)
Moving onto the food. We got take out from Jack Daniels twice. I think I had the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Delicious! We ate at Fuse twice. Probably one of the best southwest chicken salads I've had as well. We also got pizza from Passianos and it was very good as well! The market place has great salads and sandwiches and of course, there is The Falls for a delicious evening beverage while listening to some live music. Overall, while the prices were truly overpriced, the food was great and we knew what we were getting into when we booked.
Then there is RELACHE spa. I made an appointment to get my hair cut, highlighted, colored and styled and got a conditioning treatment. Yes, again, I paid a very high price... BUT.. Ricki was absolutely amazing. She is the salon lead. My hair had not been touched for 2 years and what a transformation. No, I'll never be a super model but she sure did wonders and I left there feeling amazing! Thank you Ricki.
Finally to the CID (Consider IT Done) Team. I won't remember everyone but it started with Shauna who helped upgrade our room, then there was Wanda and Ray who confirmed everything was reserved where we wanted. They were all amazing. And when we got there, we didn't want housekeeping but called the CID team for water and coffee. They delivered promptly and enough for our whole 5 day stay.
So.. Thank you Gaylord Opryland Hotel. Yes, this was an expensive trip but my husband and I had a wonderful time. The room was as advertised (well, except for the windows that would not open-very disappointed about that seeing as I was going for the whole water view and sound) But, truly I can't complain. We were so blessed to have the opportunity to stay here.
To those that were upset in prior reviews about long waits for food/seating at restaurants or restaurants not open.. my only thought on that is patience. This hotel is not unlike any other business right now struggling to have the staff to run their operation and keep their doors open to provide a happy place for people to visit. The staff we encountered during our whole stay were amazing. But I am sure they are struggling just like everyone else. We are all so lucky to have a place to visit like this. Please be patient...
Thank you again to everyone at the Gaylord. We will be back!

So, for the first time in our lives, my wife and I spent Christmas away from the family and chose to stay at this resort, checking in the day before Christmas Eve and checking out the day after Christmas.

Here is a summary of the experience:

OVERALL: huge, fantastic resort - like three hotels under one roof, beautifully decorated for the holidays - VERY crowded

ROOM: we took the standard room w/two queen beds - pretty unremarkable, but clean with all the basics

STAFF: with the exception of the one restaurant we ate at (see more below), everyone was great and helpful. Only criticism that everyone seemed to have was the lines at the Concierge Desk - they definitely need more help during the holidays.

PARKING: if you drive or rent a car be advised that parking costs about $25 to $30 PER DAY, depending whether you choose Valet or not. There is no where else to park, you must use their lots.

EATING: there are about 6 restaurants, ranging from "fast-food" pizza and burger to high-end steakhouse, as well as various coffee and ice cream shops. We ate at four of the restaurants: the quick pizza place PAISANO’S PIZZARIA & VINO for lunch (Ok, $5 per slice of a large, greasy thin pizza), CASCADES AMERICAN CAFE for lunch (outstanding sandwiches but pricey - about $34 for two), dinner on Christmas Eve at OLD HICKORY STEAKHOUSE (outstanding food, service, atmosphere and selection - about $150.00 for two), and a very bad experience at FUSE SPORTS BAR (over 30 minutes for a couple sandwiches, couldn't find our server for even water, had to find the "manager" who kept saying "This is not our standard, and we hope you come back" - this meal should have been comp'ed, but she wasn't going there - terrible, terrible experience). NOTE: the hotel does have a weird rotation of closing the restaurants on certain days, which when it is not busy might work, but during the busy holiday they all should have been open all the time.

SPA & RESORT FEE: there is an $18 per day resort fee, which most resorts and large hotels charge - you can fight it, we didn't because we used some of their amenities. The spa, Relâche Spa & Salon, is unbelievable - I didn't want to leave. They pamper you, have a ton of ways to relax, and if you are an Elite Member, it is free (extra for massages). This is a great spa to visit and not overly priced. The staff is outstanding.

ACTIVITIES: we saw the "Radio City Rockettes" on Christmas Eve and bought tickets for the dinner/show on Christmas day - both excellent activities. We also went and saw their "Ice" exhibit - basically a building with amazing ice sculptures in a 9 degree building - very cold, but very cool! There were a ton of other things to do if you had kids.

CROWDS: at times the resort was overly crowded, however it was amazing to see all the people from so many parts of the U.S. and the world - everyone was friendly except a couple we encountered at the dinner show from Washington, DC, but I guess there are idiots all over and a manager saw this and moved us away from them - good for her!

The resort is an amazing place that we would surely visit again, maybe even for Christmas again!

Thank you so much for taking time to share the details of your recent experience. We are also delighted to hear that you had great dining experiences at Cascades American Cafe and Old Hickory Steakhouse and are disappointed that your service at Fuse did not meet your expectations.
