I was at the Gaylord for a meeting this past week and did stay at the hotel several years ago. it was great hotel if you like the one stop shop and do not want to walk around anywhere to eat or drink. I persoanlly do not like being held captive to these sort of resorts. I just feel like they know you are captive to this resort and take pricing advantage of you when it comes to buying something from the gift shop or eating there. The hotel was nice, the service was good, and the food was good. I would consider coming back if i wanted to stay at one resort with my kids, but would not recommend for a romantic weekend.
The gym was very nice also, but the hotel is so big you would have a hard time working out in the morning.

Hello--

Without a doubt, we are a very large and inclusive facility. Our motto is "Everything in One Place." We certainly don't wish to be anybody's captors, though. In fact, we will gladly provide transportation downtown so that you can enjoy the great things that Nashville has to offer during your visit to Music City! But should you want to stay close to your room, we want to be able to provide everything you might want or need here as well.

The wife and I spent two nights here and very much enjoyed the experience. We were here as part of a road trip vacation. We chose it because of its general reputation and its proximity to the Grand Ole Opry. It is a massive facility. I sense it was not more that half full the evenings we were there. Had it been filled I sense that our experience would have been different. No problem at all at check in. Room overlooking the atrium was very nice and worth whatever extra cost may have been involved. The three huge, highly decorated atriums are the highlight of the hotel. On our first day we went to downtown Nashville and got back to the hotel about 10:30 PM wanting to get something light to eat. We were first advised by several hotel personnel that nothing was open but a gift shop employee knew who to call to find out for sure and found one (Jack Daniels) open until midnight. This was a nice place but, as was expected, it is expensive ($15 hamburgers) relative to places outside the hotel. We had appetizers (country ham sliders and specialty french fries) at about $8 each along with drinks for a late night snack. A live c&w group played the room. Food this night and at other times was distinctive and enjoyable. I thought the hours of the many restaurants could have been better communicated at check in. My expectation was that the pizza place would likely be open late but it was not. Parking was easy and it was easy to get in and out of the lot whenever desired using the room key. We are walkers and it was a nice but long walk to the GOO. (The hotel provides a free shuttle to the GOO.) The Opry Mills Mall, a bit further than the GOO, can also be walked to.

There are a lot of add-ons to the basic room cost. I was aware these charges were coming but they really add up. A $169 base rate per day had the following per day charges: state tax $15.63, occupancy tax $10.14, city tax $2.50, resort fee $18, sales tax on resort fee $1.67, self parking $20, sales tax on self parking $1.85. All that brought it up to $239 per day!

It is a huge place and very easy to get frustratingly lost in. A map is provided at check in and it is worthwhile to closely examine it and to try to locate things of interest while in a good mood. The map is useful but it takes trying it out to really understand it, particularly as to the different levels things are on which are difficult to comprehend just using the map.

The indoor pool was closed when we were there and was undergoing a substantial renovation judging from the size of the crew and the equipment they had working on it. It was not a warm day so the outdoor pool had few takers other than kids but the large outdoor warm jet pool got plenty of enjoyable use from us. I found it hard to find the indoor/outdoor pool area. You have to go through doors which appear to be solely to the spa but are really to both the spa and the pool complex.

Overall, using the hotel added to a great Nashville experience.

This is my second time visiting this hotel and I feel exactly the same I did the first time.

Positives - it’s unique. Beds are comfortable. Staff is friendly. Rooms are somewhat above average but not worth the cost.

Negatives - It’s too big. It’s difficult to navigate. Everyone is wandering around with maps trying to find their way places. It’s ill-equipped to handle the number of people it can host for a convention.

I’m traveling alone and can’t find a place to eat at 6:15 at night without waiting at least 45 minutes for a table unless I take an Uber downtown. I’m about to eat my third meal of stuff I could find in a gift shop because it has been this way for every meal. I don’t want to stand in long lines to eat - especially when I see - and I counted at the Mexican restaurant - 12 empty tables.

I would never stay here voluntarily and feel sorry for people that paid good money to do so. For what it costs - there are far better places to stay. I’ve attended 25+ conventions. This is by far my least favorite place to have to go.

This is a very large hotel complex and is nicely done with the gardens and the rooms are large and well kept. Staff is friendly and helpful but the price structure is just greedy! Almost $5 for a Snickers candy bar in the gift shop. After checking in I found out there is a $20/night charge for incidentals. Perhaps the most irritating is the $29/night charge for parking (Valet was $35) and I never found anywhere where the parking was 'free'

I would much prefer a hotel that put all of these charges into the room rate and allow a better comparison of expenses between competing properties.

There are 'restaurants' in the complex but there is no breakfast provided with the accomodations.

I have traveled the world and this hotel takes the prize for the absolute worst staff I have ever encountered. On check in we were informed that our reserved room was "given away." Yes that's a quote! I have a car full of kids and drove 5 hours to be there and they gave our room away. We had a whole itinerary of events already paid for at the hotel (ICE and such) so literally had to demand a room. The check in clerk kept telling my wife “I am sorry. What do you want me to do? We are booked solid…” After waiting a while a room magically appeared, which turned out to be a corner room with a fold out couch and a mattress that literally pulled out of the wall. No box springs and cheap lumpy mattresses. My back still hurts!

While waiting for my wife to check in I parked in a line of parking spaces near the main lobby. I was literally yelled at by a parking security guard who told me to move or I would have my car booted. I looked over and saw to my surprise the car next to me was indeed booted! As I started to move my car, the owner of that booted car came out after checking in and I heard him say to the security guard "You are basically charging me 120 dollars to check in?" So yes, if you park in the wrong spot you will be berated by a parking attendant and possibly forced to pay $120 to remove a boot from your tire. As I was pulling away, another car pulled up and the guard literally screamed at him "If I catch you over hear one more time I am going to kick you out of this hotel!" I couldn't believe they would treat their paying customers this way.

We did ICE that next day in the evening, which was neat. They have this big setup inside a convention building where you can buy hot chocolate, a gift shop, and also a bar with Holiday themed winter alcoholic drinks. My wife was in line to buy drinks and I was waiting at a table with our kids. My 4 year old spilled her hot chocolate on a glass table in the bar area. I got up to get napkins and the bartender completely lost it. He rushed over and screamed at us “Get out! Get out of here now!” I was in the process of cleaning it up and shrugged, “Ok let’s go kids”. As we were leaving he screamed at 2 other families in the bar area “Get out! Get out of here! No kids!” I told him to calm down and it was just a spilled drink that I could have taken care of. Plus, I told him, this was a kid event so of course there are gonna be kids around and they might spill a drink. Instead of calming down this guy stood up, looked me in the eye, and took a step towards me like he wanted to fight me while still yelling at me! I backed down because my 3 and 4 year old were standing there looking terrified. My wife later went in and talked to a manager who told her, and I quote “I said I was sorry ma’am. What do you want me to do?” The bartender just continued making drinks like it was a regular day for him.

Finally, the morning we left we went to the Peanuts character breakfast. Its pricey and was over $200 for our family . We sat down and asked for drinks. We went and got our food from the buffet which took at least 10 - 15 minutes with the kids in tow. We started eating. After about 30 minutes we still had no drinks. No water, no nothing. We inquired about our drinks to another waiter and he acted very strangely saying “You never talked to ME about your drinks!” while laughing. It was very weird... We then got a manager who said the drinks would be right out, which apparently meant another 15 minutes later, as him and 2 waiters disappeared into the back section. We were done and ready to leave as they brought out water and coffee.

At this point I just wanted to run back home as quick as possible and leave this nightmare “resort” behind, which we did.

Bottom line: The strangest and worst staff I have encountered in my life. It was like they hated you for being there and spending your money. The only time in my life I have paid $2500 dollars for a room, over priced food, and over priced activities to have staff yell at me, apparently try to fight me, give away my reserved room, and never even bring me a glass of water during a $200 meal.

My advice is Avoid this place at all Costs. If you have to go because you wanna see ICE, stay somewhere else in Nashville, anywhere else, and just drive over to see ICE and the other activities.
