We stayed at this hotel for 4 days for a convention. It is just amazing. It is gorgeous!! The hotel is enormous and you will do alot of walking within it. But I feel that is part of the attraction of it. It has so much right on site. Shopping, restaurants, 2 pools, fitness center, spa, boat ride around the atrium etc. Our room was a bit on the small side but immaculate and nicely furnished. The service everywhere in the hotel was outstanding.

We ate at the Jack Daniel's restaurant inside the hotel and it was outstanding! The fees for onsite parking are ridiculous just as any other large hotel! Although we did get a break being with a convention. The Opry Mills outlet mall is just next door and had great shopping. The hotel has a shuttle daily going back and forth from the mall.

There was a kids/teenage convention going on while we were there and all night there was continuous slamming of room doors and yelling/running up and down the hallways. I do not blame the hotel for this but it was noisy for the first 2 nights that is for sure.

I would love to come back here in the future it is just a beautiful resort!

I love staying at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel because I know the rooms are noise-free, the beds are extra comfy and the rooms are a generous size. Since we had stayed at this property before, it was easier finding our way around. The prices at the restaurants inside the hotel are still high but the food is good. We went to eat lunch at a restaurant inside the hotel and the same server we had last year was still there (Mohammed) and he remembered where we were from!! Truly amazing!! Mohammed was SUPER NICE so I would like to give him kudos for remembering people from 1 year ago! I would definitely stay here again... but I already did!!

Spent the weekend with my girlfriends for my 40th birthday. The hotel is beautiful and has a resort like atmosphere. There were many restaurant choices within the hotel and it is right next to some fabulous outlet shopping. The front desk customer service was lacking and made it difficult for check in and check out. Also, you may want to bring your own beach towels for poolside lounging because there were no clean towels available until late afternoon. However, the bellman service was AMAZING. Tyson, stopped to help us and all of our luggage to our room. We were having difficulty finding our room because of construction near our wing of the resort. Tyson was so kind and informative and alleviated the negative experience from the front desk.

While in town for an event at the Grand Ole Opry, we stayed at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. We arrived at 2:30p.m. which was early for the 4:00p.m. Check-in. We were told that we would receive a text when the room was ready. (This was Thursday and today is Sunday and I still haven't received that text.) At 4:15 I went to the concierge and was told that our room was cleaned, however it needed to be inspected. I said how long would this take? She said "a couple minutes". Ok.....at 5:00p.m. I went again and asked again if our room was ready. After she called someone she finally said it was ready. (No reason for the non-existent text). I knew ahead of time that we had a $24 a day parking fee. She told me that there was also a resort fee that included our internet. I said when the reservations were made we were told that the Internet was included in what we were paying (which was over $1,100). She said no you have to pay the resort fee to get that. I than asked would our Marriott rewards would cover that and I was told yes. I advised I would call her from my room if that was ok and provide her with the number. She said that would be fine. After we got to our room I called the bell hop since that was the only number I could find. The gentleman asked what I needed and I said I need to reach the concierge desk. He said well, they work one on one and don't take calls. I said well that's odd, she just said I could call her?!? I then explained the issue to him and he said he could add the Marriott rewards number to the account and it would be taken care of. After being in the car for over 8 hours and waiting 3 hours to get in our room, we were starved and wanted to change and go to dinner. The one place we wanted to eat was packed and was seat yourself. There were no seats so we decided we needed to find another place. We went to have pizza which was good but for one pizza, an iced tea and a beer it was $36. The next day we thought we would get to go to the restaurant we initially wanted to go to the day before. It was closed. This resort boasts about all the restaurants they have but fail to let you in on the fact that they are not all open on the same days. So we settled again and went to the sports bar. We got an appetizer of cheese fries and I got 6 wings and my husband a philly cheesesteak. I had 2 drinks and my husband had 2 beers. It was $72 before tip. Needless to say, we were ready to go home. When we awoke the next morning, the bill had been slid under the door already. (Even though we couldn't get into our room on time, they wanted their money in a timely manner). The bill was over $90. It had the resort fee for 2 days and the parking fee for 2 days plus tax. I called the front desk to inquire about the resort fee that I was told by the concierge and the bell hop that I wouldn't be charged. She said the resort fee is for the Internet, the pool usage, and the phone usage. (The pool we never saw and the phone we never used). I said so we paid over $1,100 to sleep in this bed and we will pay for every little thing you want to charge us for whether we used it or not. She said yes ma'am. So save yourself the money and frustration and stay somewhere else!!

Questions & answers about the restaurant

We were just there again and I wrote a review that the restaurant situation has greatly improved. There is a great "sports bar" called Fusion that would work well for what you described. You may want to call ahead or check when you get there to see about 20 people at once but they could probably accommodate. It's just that staffing throughout is not 100% so all restaurants are not open every day. There is a newer area downtown (across from the Bridgestone Arena) called 5th & Broadway that has a lot of shops and restaurants. Not sure about parking as it was just my husband and I and we "Ubered" it. The downtown shuttle from the Gaylord (which I believe you need to buy a pass for) currently only runs on Fri and Sat. Hope that helped.

There are two outdoor pool areas at the resort, one outside Magnolia, the other in the Cascades section. We did not use the indoor pool. You need to go past the Cascades spa to get to it. Both pool areas have outside bars. We used both pools during our stay, and found the Cascades pool to be the better of the two. The Magnolia pool did not have umbrellas around the lounges. We did not use the indoor pool. In regards to non-guest swimmers, I did not see any of the pool staff request a room key or any other form of ID to use the pool. Note, that this is summer, any storms within a 5 mile radius of the resort will shut down all the pools, including the indoor pool. There's really not much to walk to outside of the hotel other than the mall, but the resort offers free shuttle to the mall and Grand Ole Opry. Resort restaurants will be higher priced than Nashville restaurants. My wife and I ate most of our meals in Nashville while touring. I would recommend reading the TA reviews. Hope this helps. Enjoy your stay.
