Most popular question about the shops
My 14 yr old granddaughter and I have booked a room with the sofa bed. My question is will we have access to all the restaurants and shops from that room?

... I think. These are just the two areas (or wings) I have stayed in. They have different shops and restaurants in each area.

We stayed at the Gaylord Opryland for a 4 day conference. The hotel is HUGE! It's also beautiful. We were fortunate enough to get a balcony room in the garden conservatory area. Despite having the balcony it was very quiet. There were shops in the hotel which were overpriced, but I guess that's to be expected when it's inside a hotel. There are also a few restaurants /bars. The disappointing thing about that is that they stopped serving food to early in my opinion. A lot of our conference activities didn't end until 10:30 and then room service ended at midnight. It's a bit of a drive from downtown where all the nightlife and bars are. It's about a $23 cab ride each way. Overall we had a good time.

First all the positives-
The gardens and atriums here rival Disney World, they are beautiful and obviously well -tended. The elevators are quick! The buffet at the Cascades Restaurant was good, high priced but good, even the scrambled eggs! When you FINALLY get to the end of the registration line- the check in is quick! The shuttles run on time and there are plenty of them( meaning if you go to the Grand Ole Opry -don't worry if you miss the first bus back to the hotel- there will be several more!) You can walk to the Grand Ole Opry if you choose ! The majority of the employees are very friendly and helpful. The hotel has plenty of "you are here" maps to help you navigate this huge complex! The hotel has free Wi-Fi and it is easy to access! There are several shops to purchase snacks etc. Several little boutique shops are there as well. The cookies and the Gelato @Bravo Gelato are worth the navigation to find them!
And...
When you pull your car in to registration you are queued-so at peak times there is a wait.( I did notice if you go to self park you can park and haul your luggage to the lobby and then register.) We checked in on a Sunday around 3:30 or 4:00 and the line was lonnnggg. Although they have two sides of the lobby for registration -only one side was open. We got lost going to our room- even though we were following our map! We went to a totally different part of the hotel -tried "our" key in the room and when it didn't work asked the housekeeper working on that floor to help. She ( bless her) saw our map and told us we were in the wrong section! Our room was fine, nothing special but we never could get it as cool as we liked. Every day we would have to reset the thermostat, but it would never really cool off. Aggravating! They have in room coffee makers but the coffee was horrible- and I will pretty much drink anything in the morning that remotely resembles coffee! Your choice is to go to the Coffee Bean ( Starbucks) by the lobby or the restaurant which was a maze of hallways and hotel rooms away! The hotel is not very close to downtown, but they do offer a shuttle!
I never saw the pools-so can not tell you about them.
I personally can not see why someone would bring young children here, I did not see any activities for them.
I enjoyed my stay here but most likely would not stay here again.

Awesome property! The grounds are magnificent. Lots of walking. Great shops. Plenty of places to eat. It is a bit of a self service place because of the enormity of the property. Definitely a must see and I would stay there again. We had an atrium room with a balcony and it was definitely worth the extra money. It is probably the most sound proof room I have ever stayed in.

The pros: The Opryland Hotel & Convention Center is unlike anything you'll ever experience. It's a huge facility, so it's easy to get lost just trying to find your room. The garden areas of the Cascades and the Delta are so lovely though, you really don't mind wandering through them. There are water features and lots of beautiful plants and flowers. There are several shops and restaurants on premises so you really don't need to leave.

The overall hotel facility and sleeping room were very clean and the housekeeping staff did a great job.

The cons: It's expensive to stay at the Opryland plus there is a daily 'resort fee' and parking fee added to your tab, which increases your bill by approximately $38 dollars or more per day. The parking fee seems ridiculous - they have tons of parking. It's not like when you're at a hotel in a city where real estate is at a premium. The food stops I selected in the hotel seemed overpriced, and they charge to ride the riverboat through the Delta section. Bottom line, the hotel is gorgeous but get ready to break the bank if you go.

We spent Christmas night here as a treat to ourselves. It was very crowded, but checking in was not too bad and went quickly. We had made reservations on line several weeks before, which is good because I am sure I overheard the clerks telling others that they were booked solid. After checking in around 4 we wanted to explore the 9 acres of gardens, waterfalls and shops in the atrium but there were just too many people around for us. I think a lot were just there to see and shop, not actually staying there. The hotel was beautifully decorated for the Holidays. The lights inside the gardens were just as lovely as the lights outside. We settled for just stopping for light dinner and drinks at a couple of the 9 restaurant/bars in the property and slowly making our way back to the room. It was freezing rain outside and being able to do all this without going outside or having to drive anywhere was really nice! The next morning we walked to the coffee shop and had a nice time exploring the now empty atrium and gardens.
The room we had was nice, not overlooking the gardens but a less expensive king facing the parking lots. Nicely decorated, with the only complaint being for the price of the room I expected at least a good coffee pot in the room. It was a worthless single cup maker....good reason to head out to the coffee-espresso shop or one of the many Starbucks stands on the property. Parking was at a premium. I could understand asking parking fees from those not staying at the hotel, but how about at least hiding the parking fee in the room charge for those staying there. We had to pay $20 to park our car for the night. Ouch. Overall.....I would do it again!

Yes, but some of them might be quite a walk, depending on the area your room is in. They have The Delta area, The Cascades, and several more, I think. These are just the two areas (or wings) I have stayed in. They have different shops and restaurants in each area.

Good afternoon Taylor N, We appreciate you reaching out to Gaylord Opryland with your questions. To have better Wifi access to the resort, you will have to be a guest by using your last name and room number. However, if you visit our registration desks, one of the front desk agents may provide you with an access code that will be a one-time use while on property. We hope that you consider staying at Gaylord Opryland if you ever find yourself in the Nashville area.
