My parents treated our family (two families of four, kids 4,5,8,9) of 10 to a super special trip for Spring Break!
Day 1: SoundWaves! Checked in at 1, two of the three rooms were ready. They had us park near the Magnolia lobby and truck our luggage through the whole place to the Delta area. This took an hour because we could only find one cart. Super overwhelming.
TIP: study the map!! if your room is ready, ask to park closer to your wing of the hotel. We could’ve parked right outside of our room door basically and we did once we found that lot. Huge improvement in logistics.
The water park is AMAZING, felt like we were the only people there. Lifeguards and servers were so nice and helpful. Food was $$$$!! At least drinks were free refills. The 18% resort fee makes getting the bill more painful than I’m used to. Packed some snacks and peanut butter sandwiches for day 2 and the kids (and our wallets) were happy!
Day 2: Breakfast at the Cascades American Cafe. Ask for Elsa! She was the sweetest waitress ever. Took great care of our large party, took pictures for us, and hooked the kids up on the buffet. The food was amazing, great value we felt.
More SoundWaves after that and then heading out to Downtown Nashville for dinner. Hit Puckett’s and scored the nicest little table tucked back away from the crowd. We sat out on the Delta Island back at the hotel to catch the last few minutes of the lights and fountains show and an adult beverage to unwind.
Day 3: Old Town Trolley tour of downtown Nashville. We picked it up at the Farmers Market stop with free parking and easy access. Plus good bathrooms and snacks for before/after. Ordered tickets online, saved 10%. Great tour guides on each trolley and we were able to cover a lot of ground for a group of 11. (Had a cousin who lives in Nashville join us for the day) We had lunch in the Gulch area, Burger Republic. The service was top notch! Had great drinks of all kinds, affordable kids’ meals, and one of the best burgers we’ve ever had! Thankful for the grandparents that put the kids to bed in the hotel rooms while us parents got to venture around the hotel for some adult beverages. We walked to the Garden Conservatory space enjoyed Mexican beer, some mules, and margaritas at Solario Cantina. Chips and Queso for dinner?! 🤷🏻♀️ Yep!
Our favorite spot was close to our hotel room on the Delta Island where you can buy or bring your own snacks and drinks and just watch the fountains and lights dance to the music.
Favorite parts of our trip:
-Country music soundtrack to the whole trip!
-Food, expensive but worth it
-Family, quality time with so much to do!
Opportunities:
-Logistics for Opryland hotel. Followed instructions for the SoundWaves package but it could’ve been better for sure.
-Wish there was more live music around the hotel so it felt more like Nashville immersive experience.
-should’ve split up from our large group while on the trolley tour, we could’ve covered more stops and spent more time where each person wanted
Overall, a fantastic portion of our Spring Break spent at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & SoundWaves Nashville. 💙
