The reviews are right - it is an experience at this hotel. It's gorgeous and grand, to be sure.
However. Here are some things you need to know:
1. Add fees and parking to your expected bill. Along with all the hotel tax and fees, you need to know that you will pay $29 to self park and $38 to valet per day. There is free parking IF you are willing to walk but that walk is also GRAND. There are no free lots close, they will tow your car if you leave it at the Opryland Mall overnight, so be ready to pay or walk. If you pay the self park fee and that lot is full when you return to the hotel, call the front desk and they will refund your parking for that day. Yes. That happens.
2. Bring snacks. Literally pack an extra suitcase if you can. Drinks, snacks, breakfast stuff are a BIG help here, especially if you are traveling with children. Again, this place is huge and you will walk to find a place for breakfast, you will wait in line, and prices are high.
3. Take a photo of you room number. You will need it.
4. Pack a coverup if you plan to use the pool. The pool is not close to rooms and unless you are a fan of walking around in your suit dripping dry, you will be glad you packed something to walk to and from your room in.
5. The mall has reasonable places to eat and a movie theater. Again, be ready to walk or take a shuttle. Think Disney on this shuttle experience - add that time or the walking time to your plans.
6. The boat ride. Expensive. Your kids will want to go. If you choose to spend the $$, make sure you tell them it is a one time only kind of thing. They will likely get off the boat feeling let down; there are no pirates or special effects...it is just floating thru looking at plants...ha.
Having said all of this, it remains an amazing place. The rooms are first class and it is something to see; it is something to plan for too!

My son stayed here for a national academic convention, the room they stayed in was on the small side, no microwave and faced the trash can. They did not have their room cleaned for 3 days in a row, disappointing for rooms that cost several hundred dollars a night. The hotel is too large to really enjoy and even though we were there for 5 nights we never really were able to find our way around the hotel. Everyone commented on how it would have been nice to have staff around the hotel that could have directed guests but they were very hard to find and many did not know themselves.
It takes too long just to go to the pool or anywhere else. Everything inside is extremely expensive and most of the restaurants were poorly rated. You could stay in a really nice hotel for much less, and just come to see the gardens for a few hours. We enjoyed Nashville but would not recommend the Gaylord Resort.

There is no way to describe the grandeur of this hotel. The rooms are very quiet and welcoming which contrasts the size of the hotel. It is necessary to get around the hotel with a map because it is difficult to locate your room. International brand stores, restaurants of all venues are within the hotel promoting an endless variety of options for eating, entertaining or fraternizing with friends. The pool is small for the size of the hotel but pays for the area it is in, as it is an area outside the hotel and very quiet. The proximity of the mall leaves women crazed with shopping.

Hi Carlos-- Thanks for the lovely review! To be clear, we have THREE pools, and now we also have a four acre water park. It sounds like you visited our Magnolia outdoor pool. You'll have to come back and check out the rest! Tim S. Customer Care Specialist

We spent 5 days and 4 nights at this awesome place. They have 3 swimming pools, sauna, retail shops, restaurants and so much more to offer their guests in 2881 rooms.
Once we found our way around we adventured outside. Being there during their Christmas time there was so much more to see outside as well as the Festival of Trees inside.
There is the Osprey Mills Outlets within walking distance of the Resort plus the Resort offers bus rides to and from the mall every 30 minutes.
We enjoyed every breakfast they offered to us. There is the Delta River flatboat ride inside the hotel, not to be missed.
The dancing water was spectacular to watch in the Delta Area. There are so many areas to be at to enjoy. We chose to sit up above at the pizza area for a perfect viewing area.
Foliage areas all through the Resort. I could go on and on. Our room was so spacious with sink and large counter in bathroom plus an area outside of the bath area was another sink and counter. Nice sized wardrobe area to hang your clothes...with doors.

The place is huge and gorgeous; so many things to do inside, the food is great and you have shopping stores and live music. Worth every penny. The Cascade restaurant has great food, even sushi; the drinks are really good as well.
Indoor and outdoor pool; very beautiful
